Ok Am I being unreasonable to think I might actually be pregnant??!

We have been trying for a baby, on and off for about 5 months now.

All preg tests have been neg except one which was touch and go but the next one was neg. Last one I did about 4 weeks ago.

I have had three periods since we started trying BUT have also been on and off the pill and we have changed our minds/changed again etc. In fact I have just finished a period today (but stopped pill about a week ago so probably not a real one IYKWIM).

For the last two weeks or so I have FELT A BABY MOVING IN MY TUMMY. I HAVE SEEN MY TUMMY MOVE - feels and looks exactly the same as when I was pregnant with DS.

DH just saw it and is totally freaked out.

Is this even possible ???!!!!!

Oooh, good point, and actually, shit (may I call you shit? Grin), I think that's what I used to get. I'm a very twitchy person.

Interestingly, the muscle twitching seems to have stopped now I'm pregnant...

OracleInaCoracle · 04/09/2011 14:14

Why, oh why is this an aibu? Surely health is a better place for it?!

pregnancy tests work on a hormone that peaks early in pregnancy and then declines. when did you have the positive test? is it possible you got pregnant before you started truying and there for tested as the hormones were declining?

I would go to the dr any way if you can feel something hard. always worth checking.

SouthernFriedTofu · 04/09/2011 14:18

Sorry but I think it would be too early to see kicks. Maybe feel them but defintly not see them. Baby woudl be tiny I'm 18 weeks and baby is the size of a green pepper... apparently Hmm

youarekidding · 04/09/2011 14:23

Not too early to see baby moving if very little amneotic fluid. Unlikely but not impossible, and it may be the movement not the actual alien hand and feet you get towards the end.

I get these movements and feelings all the time, I'm single so not PG, and it is something to do with my IBS.

However a friend had periods, went out got drunk every week, had hangover, ended up in A&E with suspected appendicitis and had a DS 3 hours later. Grin She hadn't even put on weight.

I think GP is the only way you'll know for sure.

bananamam · 04/09/2011 14:29

I saw DD move from 15 wks....I had lost a LOT of Wight through morning sickness(extreme sickness) but when I lay flat you could def make out movements and she was very obvious to others at 18wks.

bananamam · 04/09/2011 14:29

Weight even

easylife73 · 04/09/2011 14:45

Marking place through sheer nosiness as want to know what happens at the docs tomorrow Grin I've almost been fooled by these sorts of flutterings and movements though - was wind and nerve twitches (realised after I started getting them in my thigh as well! Definitely no baby there!)

stoatie · 04/09/2011 14:48

Like others have said, I also have this but it is wind for me! (thankfully as no more babies for me ).

Only way to tell would be GP, or if you are really worried about it, go to A&E. ot sure what they would do, maybe a scan?

I think it might be worth seeing GP but not worthy of A & E as it is neither an accident or an emergency and cannot imagine they would arrange a scan at a weekend!

WhoseGotMyEyebrows · 04/09/2011 15:10

Apart from wind, it could simply be a muscle fasciculation. I got alot of these after dd was born, as did someone else on my postnatal thread. Still get them time to time, they are visible and feel exactly like a baby moving.

I had exactly that too. Think mine was triggered by birth combined with extreme stress and anxiety. Had it for 5 years!

VeryLittleGravitas · 04/09/2011 15:58

HCG levels start falling after 13 weeks. By 16-18 weeks they may reduce so low as to be undetectable with over-the-counter pregnancy tests. Blood serum analysis is more reliable in this case.

It's far more likely to be wind though.

whackamole · 04/09/2011 17:27

At that sort of gestation it didn't feel like kicks to me, it felt like wind! I have and ahem, active bowel, so regardless of whether pregnant or not have a lot of movement and noise etc.

You should see your doctor though - the only way you will find out now is with a scan as I'm pretty sure pregnancy tests are not effective after a certain gestation.

spookshowangellovesit · 04/09/2011 18:06

to see baby movement you would have to be quiet far along, i get mad wind that feels like baby kicks. i actually liked it because it reminded me of when i was pregnant.

TheMonster · 04/09/2011 18:10

Have you been eating marshmallows? They make me have horrible feelings in my tummy.

mousseschoice · 04/09/2011 19:22

I had 3 NEGATIVE home tests and a blood test done at the DRs (which didn't show anything!) and was told that I had bowel spasms...Went for an ultra sound and low and behold there was a little 17 week old baby...Who is now 21 months old. Trust your body, because the tests don't always work.
Go to the DRs and get it checked out.
Hope it all works out for you.

knittynoodle · 04/09/2011 19:50

I had two pregnancy tests that didnt work when I was pregnant. I got no result at all on either and thought they were just cheap crap. I was about 3 days pregnant when I did them (although didnt know this at the time) You can get a false negative I believe, but not a false postive.

I get 'phantom' kicks from being broody for a second! Grin

ihatecbeebies · 04/09/2011 20:07

I've got IBS and I get the same feelings too and it feels just like it did when I was pregnant with DS. Maybe you should stop ttc until you are both very sure that you want another child if you are starting/stopping pill and changing your minds so often, what if you change your mind again and don't want another child only to find out you're pregnant?

MrsBloomingTroll · 04/09/2011 21:48

OP, haven't had a chance to read the whole thread but I did want to urge you to keep pushing for medical advice until you get an answer.

A friend of mine quite recently had several negative pregnancy tests, was told by TWO GPs that she wasn't pregnant, was referred for a scan to find out the cause of her abdominal pains....bingo, she was over 20 weeks pregnant.

You know your body better than anyone. Keep going until you find out what's going on. Good luck!

heroinahalfshell · 04/09/2011 22:21

Eric it was really really faint, but definitely a line there. The next day, no line.

Tortoise love the name!! Wink

No farting going on there I'm afraid.... docs it is tomorrow!

Well you could be preggers or it could be wishful thinking?

I know someone who took 12 weeks to get a + preg test. Lots of negative tests at first but she just knew she was and she was right.

Most women do get a + by 4 weeks though. However the hormone that gives a + preg test peaks first then lowers later on and could maybe show a negative preg result?

I agree - see your GP. Then let us know what happened. Fingers crossed.

skybluepearl · 04/09/2011 22:42

second thoughts - faulty pregnancy test? Go buy yourself a Tescos own preg test. Cheap and sensitive.

skybluepearl · 04/09/2011 22:44

have you had any sickness or exhaustion? Cravings?

LoopyLoopsPussInBoots · 04/09/2011 23:02

Well, good luck!
