Ok Am I being unreasonable to think I might actually be pregnant??!

We have been trying for a baby, on and off for about 5 months now.

All preg tests have been neg except one which was touch and go but the next one was neg. Last one I did about 4 weeks ago.

I have had three periods since we started trying BUT have also been on and off the pill and we have changed our minds/changed again etc. In fact I have just finished a period today (but stopped pill about a week ago so probably not a real one IYKWIM).

For the last two weeks or so I have FELT A BABY MOVING IN MY TUMMY. I HAVE SEEN MY TUMMY MOVE - feels and looks exactly the same as when I was pregnant with DS.

DH just saw it and is totally freaked out.

Is this even possible ???!!!!!

Ooh intriguing!
I sonetimes get little flutters like early movements but nothing that makes my stomach move. It's interesting you can feel something below tummy button too.
I know when I was quite early in my pregnancies first thing inthe morning I could feel my uterus very easily as my full-bursting bladder must have pushed it up further.
Some people do get -ve pregnancy tests for a while.

Ooh let us know

faverolles · 04/09/2011 12:04

When you feel the drop off below your tummy button, I think that's a normal feature of your body. I have been fooled by this before!

clappyhands · 04/09/2011 12:05

spooky

i could have written this OP but was too embarrassed Blush

i have 3 dc and it is the same symptoms you describe

i am not pregnant but have been to doctors (not that embarrassed! just with you lot lol)

i am for a pelvic exam in 2 weeks with radiographer at the hospital

hth

heroinahalfshell · 04/09/2011 12:06

I realise it is most unlikely!!! Will go to doc's in am - off work tomorrow so good opportunity. They'll prob tell me off for stopping and starting the pill!

Fertile days this month are 11-16th (although a bit hard to be sure as just came off pill.. again Hmm )

Will check back in at the end of Sept :)

My sister made it to 5 months before she knew she was pregnant. She was on the pill, put all symptoms down to wind etc, preg tests were negative and she still had periods. You never know, but it is likely wind, but it might not be. Goodluck

ChippingIn · 04/09/2011 12:08

Wind etc

Sorry.

If you were pregnant your test would come back positive, Ive had it where it has felt like Im pregnant, however for me that would be an impossibility, no periods and been steralised!

You are however fucking up your hormones and your body and keep stopping and starting the pill will mess with your cycle.

thisisyesterday · 04/09/2011 12:09

it's wind. trust me.

all the signs are that you are not pregnant. negative tests, period etc etc

to be pregnant enough to both feel and see a baby moving you would have to be like... way over 20 weeks....

heroinahalfshell · 04/09/2011 12:11

I know Fabby but we've had some major family problems over the last which has led us to change our minds about trying and then think no why should we etc etc. I do know though.

I get this a lot. Especially if my jeans are too tight. It feels so much like a baby moving but usually I get my period a few days later so I've put it down to that, wind, IBS and general wishing I could have another baby and praying that my coil would spontaneously combust so I could get pg without being blamed for it.

I get this too, I find it strangely comforting, like a little memory of when my boys were inside me.

Tis just wind though, I think.

Sending you lots of luck though!

GwendolenHarleth · 04/09/2011 12:18

I've had two kids and I get feelings like baby movements sometimes, despite there being absolutely no chance of it being pregnancy due to no sex. It must be wind.

HoneyPablo · 04/09/2011 12:21

How weird. I have just had this very sensation, sitting on the sofa. It felt like a definite kick, followed by another one, very high up.
But, I have the mirena coil fitted and DH had a vasectomy 10 years ago, so I know that I am not pregnant.
But, I can see how I might convince myself I was, if it was what I really was wishing for.

Kalypso · 04/09/2011 12:47

I'm sorry, I also think it's more likely to be wind. I can explain seeing the movement. Have you a gap between your abdominal muscles? I do - it commonly happens after pregnancy - and have been referred to a physiotherapist to try and sort it out. Basically it's like a hernia (although usually the fibrous strip between the muscles stops your innards really popping out!) It's also a common cause of post-pregnancy 'mummy tummy'. Mine is mostly okay and not overly bulgy, but when I have wind, my stomach bloats out so much more than it used to, basically because the muscle isn't holding it all in as well as it used to.

There are ways to check if you have it: Google diastasis recti (sorry if you know all this already).

Basically the gap means that when I lie on my back, or lean back, I can sometimes actually see the wind moving through my intestines, because they're no longer hidden behind the layer of muscle. It's gross and fascinating in equal measles.

However, I really hope for you the movement is a baby! :)

Meglet · 04/09/2011 12:53

I have IBS and can see my stomach move with all the wind / bloating that is in there. I've got quite skinny lately and now I can feel it as it moves across my stomach, it's frickin' weird.

kalypso I think I have a gap in my upper abs which might explain it all the freaky movement.

parentfailure · 04/09/2011 13:00

I would just like to say that I got to 22W PG with DS with (i) periods (ii) Neg tests and the same symptoms as the OP.
I got to 18 weeks with DD.

I never had a single symptom of pregnancy. No sickness, no tiredness, no nothing. Seriously.

Cocoflower · 04/09/2011 13:01

OP I would also consider if your possibly having a phantom or false pregnancy caused from psychological route (i.e been very desperate for a baby so your body mimics some pregnancy symtoms)

It is worth googling

Tortoiseonthehalfshell · 04/09/2011 13:06

I'm just over 28 weeks pregnant with #2, and felt kicking much earlier this time, as one does, but DH has only been able to feel kicking from the outside for about the past two weeks. I still can't see it. The outward sign thing is very odd, but you'd have to be far further along to be able to see a baby's movements, I think.

PorkChopSter · 04/09/2011 13:09

Have you farted yet?
I'd try that before the Clearblue Wink

Jodianna · 04/09/2011 13:14

I would go to the Docs, probably wind/IBS.
Having said that, My GP was fascinated that I failed every pregnancy test with my PFB, the one the GP gave me the day before he was born, was negative. I also had six periods whilst pregnant with him. The only thing that proved it was a scan at fourteen weeks. I just knew I was pregnant, so insisted, from that point on, the GP was doing a pregnancy test every fortnight, all negative!

parentfailure · 04/09/2011 13:16

I would consider a scan.

Only thing that proved my DS's existance!

EricNorthmansMistressOfPotions · 04/09/2011 13:28

I've had this - wind or something. Very disconcerting.

What do you mean by having one test that was positive though? You can't have a false positive.

If you change your minds about trying for a month then use condoms. Not sensible to skip on and off the pill, just because it messes with your cycles.

5inthebed · 04/09/2011 13:55

Friend has just found out she is 26 weeks pregnant Shock

Only way to tell would be GP, or if you are really worried about it, go to A&E. ot sure what they would do, maybe a scan?
