Conception

When's the best time to get pregnant? Use our interactive ovulation calculator to work out when you're most fertile and most likely to conceive.

We are jolly well going to get preggers this month and keep it with some Rat smacking, pom pom waving, baking, visualising and brooking no argument. JUST FERTILISE!

Ladies, here we are.
Let's crack on.

Mmmmmmm all this talk of cocktails is making me think it might be time for hair of the dog.

(Shakes up a batch of peach bellinis and hands then round in an ironic way cos obviously none of us should be drinking!)

Re the 'relax' thing. Yes - my DH never wants to know when I am ovulating etc. But I feel lucky that he agrees to preseed, marathon shagging (although doubt many men would complain about that) and baby name conversations.

If I'm not actually pregnant this month (impossible!) then I am going to tentatively suggest he takes vitamins / lays off the booze a bit like I am. Saying that, a lychee martini sounds fabulous :)

wants I doubt that I will POAS until the day AF is due as I never feel confident enough before then. So that's 21 days and counting then.

MyGoldenNotebook · 25/08/2011 17:27

Or a peach belinis. I'll take what I'm given I'm not spoilt :) Besdies my french doctor friend insists that the occasional tipple is good for pregnant women. So there.

MyGoldenNotebook · 25/08/2011 17:28

Besdies is french for besides

MyGoldenNotebook · 25/08/2011 17:29

Or maybe the peach belini is getting to me? :) 'Besides' doesn't even look like a real word. Must be baby brain!

BartletForAmerica · 25/08/2011 18:12

I guess I am lucky with DH. He is interested in TTC, but (unlike Bartlet's increasing -obsession- interest) is all relaxed about it. He is good at listening at me chatter on about things.

Unfortunately SWI might be hampered a little now, because I've just been diagnosed with shingles. I thought I just had back pain from the mattress but no. It is SO sore too.

I quite fancy joining you for a cocktail to help with the pain. I've got some Pimm's that needs to be used up before the summer ends. Anyone fancy some? Wine

Maybe, you are doing well! Your egg can't fail to be fertilised this month!

Golden, we tried the Pre-Seed last night. Not sure how much everyone else uses but the recommended amount seemed a lot!

Solars, your cousin needs a bit of a slap. Hope the other woman was okay about it. Must have been really hard to listen to.

Hope everyone is dutifully taking their folic acid! It is just a matter of time! Smile

CakePigeon · 25/08/2011 18:31

maybe excellent shagathon there, rat couldn't possibly have escaped a good smacking!

Ooh yes put me down for a peach bellini Grin last time I had one of those I was watching the sun come up at the end of a uni ball... quite a long time ago!

My DH is pretty ttc obsessed too, he works with babies so is majorly broody. He demands SWI much more than me, I'd prefer every other day but oooh no!

scarletfingernail · 25/08/2011 18:35

Oh no Bartlet Sad that's not good news. Maybe you could carry on with the rat smacking if your DH is happy for you to just lie there? Grin I know it wouldn't be much fun for you, but you're bound to then get an ironic BFP.

BartletForAmerica · 25/08/2011 18:51

Grin at scarlet. Thankfully I have some decent painkillers (that probably should not be mixed with peach bellinis) and have decided I'm getting a BFP at the end of this month, so will be SWI through gritted teeth if needs be.

dreamfeeder · 25/08/2011 19:08

Grin at bartlet gritting her teeth to get through it, thats the spirit!! Your BFP is on the way. I did not use the recommended amount of Preseed, all the reviewers said it seemed like way too much, so I just used what I thought was a suitable amount.

I was lucky with the TTC in that DH was interested, and if push came to shove, performed the Duty Shag when told it was necessary.

maybe platinum SWI badge, your BFP is only a few days away...

dreamfeeder · 25/08/2011 19:42

oh, and the 'we weren't even trying' brigade don't know how lucky they are, they really don't. That doesn't make it less annoying.

And talk about unresaonable- I saw a mum of a little boy we see at group sometimes on the way back from the swings today (she was on way there) sporting a beautiful neat bump of maybe 20 weeks or so and I was irrationally jealous as she's out of the woods and into the more 'secure' stage. I think if I'd had a BFN this month i would have had a little cry when I got home that it wasn't me. So having a pg cousin go on and on about it means you derserve a medal or 2 cake and solars and farfalla

Yes, i will never act like a first -woman-ever -pregnant person. I carried on with my normal life til I physically couldn't, including mountain biking up to 27 weeks. The bladder pressure and pretty bad Braxton Hicks on all uphills told me that was that then. And NO excessive bump rubbing in public, we don't want to see it!!!

maybebabyR · 25/08/2011 19:55

Thanks for the badges of honour everyone

It has gotten to that time of night again. Decidedly vomiticious.

So sorry about the shingles Bartlet Never had them, but I know how painful they can be (I work in pain research) Hope the drugs kick in soon. Well done for gritting your teeth and bearing it Grin

CakePigeon · 25/08/2011 20:13

I do admire your attitude Bartlet, hope you feel better soon

maybe you are soooo pregnant! I will be astounded if you don't get your BFP this month

jaggythistle · 25/08/2011 20:21

evenin all.

my name is jaggy and it is 3 days since i last POAS. Grin

have had a wee scroll back on my phone to catch up, but typing on it is a pain so I'm just going to wave!

my worst timing ever is getting worse, apparently there will be a free cocktail on arrival at the work do even before the free wine. luckily i now have 3 willing volunteers to drink my share, plus DH. maybe they'll make me an non-alcoholic cocktail when no one is looking?

NinjaChipmunk · 25/08/2011 20:55

we need a title for a new thread. How about 'the rat smacking, no argument brooking, pom pom waving, goody baking, baby visualising, just fertilising, being pregnant and staying pregnant thread of exceptionally good luck'? Or is that too long?

jaggythistle · 25/08/2011 21:03

sounds good ninja. :)

as long as it has no brooking in it!

maybebabyR · 25/08/2011 21:03

Hahahahahaha Ninja I just laughed so much a bit of wee nearly came out Blush

NinjaChipmunk · 25/08/2011 21:08

I've started a new thread, here's a linkety link

I've taken the liberty of putting the peach bellinis on a tray and taken them through....
