This should be clomid and IUI (for Katierocket) thread. Hoping this one will be luckier than the last - can't be any worse, don't think we had a single BFP did we?

Lots and lots and lots of luck to us all.

does clomid not fix this?

ShouldKnowByFriday · 14/07/2006 16:49

Trace, I am so sorry that you have miscarried. Have you had this confirmed with a scan?

coggy · 14/07/2006 18:25

It is supposed to Natty and I'm sure it did when I fell pg with my ds....however...doesn't seem to have done it last month!!

We'll see...hopefully next month I'll be checking it out with my new monitor!!!

coggy · 15/07/2006 15:35

Thinking of you tomorrow Rachee.

Hi all, I've not been on this thread for a good while, hope everyone is doing OK and so pleased to see there has been lots of good news.

I've felt disenchanted with the whole clomid thing, I probably built up my hopes too much and was expecting to be pg by the 3rd cycle at the most, but here I am on my last (6th) month of clomid, CD6, and not feeling hopeful at all.

I have an appt with the consultant in mid August, I just wondered what the next step is and what you think I should be pushing for. I wish I had asked for a lap & Dye 6 months ago, as I'm postiive that played an enormous part, 2 months later, in getting pg after 2 years of trying for ds (now 6). Of course I was ovulating back then.

Any tips for maximising our last ditch attempt this month? Will I stop ovulating when the clomid stops, or does it help to kick start it and I might have a hope when I come off the clomid?

Rachee · 20/07/2006 22:15

many of us have caught the month AFTER we have come off clomid ...... LOL !

xXx

Rachee · 20/07/2006 22:16

i think it is a build up thing, and therefore takes a while to come out of your system.

coggy · 20/07/2006 23:13

Good to 'see' you Rachee.

I wonder if anyone has experienced this before. Im on my 1st month of clomid(100mg) and I swear I feel as if I could burst. Im also getting these pains in my side which Ive had before around ovulation time (but never as pronounced as these). The strange thing is yesterday these pains were on the right, and now they are on the left. Surely I cant be ovulating from both sides!!

dizzy36 · 24/07/2006 18:35

DD1 - sounds normal to me. While on chlomid I felt really bloated around ovulation with a bit of crampiness thrown. Felt it all around my middle rather than a particular side. Shouldn't last more than a few hours or half a day though. If pain gets worse then get it checked out. If it goes away then the chlomid is doing its job and your getting ready to ovulate

Dizzy, thanks for that, this mn is great for giving answers to clueless people like me.

Ive been feeling really positive about starting the clomid. I feel as if im finally doing something (amazing what popping pills can do for you). Then my best friend announced a bfp and Im completly stressed again. DH has been getting a right old earfull (in between the BD)

Im also doing my own head in by convincing myself that the clomid will work, and then in the next instant trying to tell myself that it wont work so not to have such a let down when AF arrives.....Im sure Im not the first to think like this.

Anyway, lots of baby dust to everyone

DD1..........

(ps I am very for best friend but also very )

Hi there,

I have been reading this thread for a while.. hope you dont mind!

We have been ttc for about 2 years now and were not getting too much useful info and a heap of 'go here do this test and see you at next appoint' which just seemed to drag on for ages.

We had our first appointment with the fertility clinic today and our GP said they would give us clomid but instead came home with metformin and told would prescribe clomid next time... come back in one month but cant get an appointment until september.

Very frustrating! Just want the pills already so we can get on with it!

Are there any other people from Australia on this thread?

Best of luck to you all!

expatinscotland · 25/07/2006 11:49

Wanta
Have you been diagnosed w/PCOS? I worked at a women's clinic in the US, and they would first prescribe Metformin to women diagnosed w/PCOS who showed insulin resistance - it was first marketed as a diabetes drug - rather than Clomid.

Often, the Metformin alone was enough to get them ovulating on their own w/o some of the side effects that can occur w/Clomid.

WantAbabyNOW · 25/07/2006 13:05

Hi there expatinscotland,

I am not really sure about the pcos. When I first visited GP she sent me for an ultrasound which came back ok and blood tests which showed everything ok but no signs of ovulation. But also got AF the same day so apparently that could be the reason why it looked live no ov.

Specialist today said had symptoms of PCOS but there have not been any results to suggest this.

It's very confusing!

Also been using a maybe baby for a few months with no luck. I think I am up to day 58 or something similar!!!

expatinscotland · 25/07/2006 14:08

It's usually diagnosed by ultrasound. The tech and doc inspect the ovaries, which would be cystic.

I'd wonder why they are treating you w/a drug used to treat insulin resistance in PCOS and diabetic patients w/o a firm diagnosis of either condition.

Perhaps AttilatheMeerkat or suejonez will see this - they're MUCH more clued up about PCOS than I am, although my sister has it.

expatinscotland · 25/07/2006 18:30

bump in case Attila or suejonez are around!

WantAbabyNOW · 26/07/2006 10:55

My friend has it too and she was diagnosed from an ultrasound.

I have no idea...

Have had my first full day of the metformin though and I felt sick all afternoon. Had to have a sleep!

expatinscotland · 26/07/2006 11:14

I'd be pretty leary of taking a drug for insulin-resistance w/o a firm diagnosis myself, Want, to be frank.

alexh · 26/07/2006 11:18

I am TTC and cycle monitoring ahs showed I am not ovulating. My Gynae (the truly wonderful Lesley regan who I am lucky enough to see privately) is sending mee off to do tests for insulin resistance and may then give me Metformin as well as Clomid. I think it is important to do the tests.

WantAbabyNOW · 27/07/2006 13:16

Hi there everyone,

I phoned the hospital today about metformin as was feeling really sick around lunch time. I am a teacher and have a kindy/year 1 class. I just felt like I could barely teach my lessons. The hospital said the nausea will wear off and that it is common.

Later on after school was having parent and teacher interview night and had to run from an interview as had to be sick... I was so embarassed. Fortunatly the school cleaner was there and didnt mind cleaning up while I finished up my interviews... then had another round later....

I guess this is just the beginning.... when we finally conceive will probably end up with morning sickness anyhow!

cindy88 · 29/07/2006 19:47

hi everyone, I new here and excited that we can all chat about what we are all going through.
I'm going through my cycles reaching up the the date of my SECOND IUI, i was so sad when the first IUI didn't take. I try to read up on people that are going through the same thing as me but everyone i read are taking infertility medication called CLOMID but i'm not.. I had to order from the UK HMG injection medication then ended up getting HCM to ovulate and i would love to hear someone going through what i'm going through. Nothing here ( TORONTO, CANADA ) is covered on what i'm on so it's all cash deals for me. which i don't mind the cost but i'm sure everyone;s thinking the same this ( we are sending money, we want something to show for it) so every failed attempet we want to keep going. I just want to know if anyone got PREGNANT with the SECOND IUI procedure..
