This should be clomid and IUI (for Katierocket) thread. Hoping this one will be luckier than the last - can't be any worse, don't think we had a single BFP did we?

Lots and lots and lots of luck to us all.

i didn't get any info before i went either, i think they treat everyone so different so not leaflet would cover it all.... That's why mumsnet is SO valuable ! just ask away and your questions get answered, LOL. ( More quickly and more detail than doc's)

xXx

ps. Coggy, i am doing ok, still haven't m/c the second yet, going in the morning AGAIN for yet another scan, if it's still there ( which i know it is) i will ask for the op) Good news, DH is letting me have a much waited for puppy ! LOL

xXx Thanx

Natty1806 · 10/07/2006 18:43

am on day 20 of 4th month of chlomid. getting sore boobs and bloated which is a sure sign that af is going to happen. Apparently chlomid usually works within 3 months of trying so this is a bad sign for me I think. got two months of it left but if its not worked after 4 months then it probably won't work now. Oh woe is me! trying to stay 'up' about it but gets harder every month.

My friend brought her little baby round to visit yesterday and she is gorgeous. My friend doesnt know this (obviously) but she gave her baby the same name as the one I lost in 2004. It was rather strange saying her name but not upsetting.

Natty1806 · 10/07/2006 20:17

Sorry to hear you are feeling a bit low dizzy, what is the next stage after you have finished 6 months on clomid?

coggy · 10/07/2006 20:51

Hope you are okay Dizzy. That must have been a bit of a shock for you with your friend's baby.

I have read of plenty of people who fall pg after 6 months of clomid. One girl fell on her 13th cycle. I am only allowed 6 months however and it is my last one next month.

trace2 · 11/07/2006 15:01

Rachee , you ok, how did the scan go, thinking of you hun((hugs)))

Rachee · 11/07/2006 20:24

egg still well and truely in-there... so i am having op ( erpu?) on sunday. D & C in old terms. LOL. but it will put our trying for another baby back by 6 weeks as must have a normal period before trying again, to heal properly. and no clomid.

xXx

Gelfling · 11/07/2006 20:36

Rachee, all the best for Sunday, will be thinking of you. I had the same op for the same reason back in Jan 2004. All the best and hope the next 6 weeks fly by.
xx

Piffle · 11/07/2006 20:38

rachee so sorry this is dragging on for you, what a torrid time of it you've had
I hope it goes as straightforward as these things can and you are ok afterwards

Im new to all of this
Have been TTC for 2 yrs, still waiting on NHS so went private. GP did day 21 test last Nov...result 54 (should be over 30 Im told) so I looked ok and was happy. Private consultant repeated in March and it was 16 ( now sad). DH sperm could in consultants own words "populate the universe". Had ultrasound and no sign of PCOS. Had lap and dye test 2 weeks ago and everything here looks great. Today started Clomid 100 mg . My consultant had instructed me to take on day 1-5. which apparently the new way to take it. Is there anyone out there who is at the same stage or anyone shead light why my day 21 tests were so different? Also I wonder why I was started on 100mg instead of 50mg? Help!!

ShouldKnowByFriday · 11/07/2006 21:29

Hello everybody. Have been checking this thread for preg announcements but haven't felt like posting as I am trying to forget that I am ttc-ing and it is all consuming.

Rachee I hope your op is as painless and easy as possible and hope you make a speedy recovery and get preq quick.

Dizzy, I am in the same position as you. This is my 4th and last clomid cycle of 100mg and if this is not successful then its on to the injectibles. The first month I got preg with 2 follicles and miscarried, and then the other 2 cycles have resulted in 1 follicle only and no pregnancy so this is my fourth. Was told by consultant that the injectibles result in more follicles so there is a higher risk of twins and the risks that go with twins pregnancies. But he said the clomid should work when he did my scan on day 11 on my last cycle which of course it didn't. The general medical feeling is that if clomid is going to work for a patient, it does in the first 3 months and a small percentage of women get preg in month 4,5,6. Have you been advised to move on to the injectibles? I used to be terrified of needles but have really got used to them since all the tests and hcg jabs.

I am on day 6 of 4th cycle and have my first scan next Monday and then its all systems go with BDing!

Good luck everybody!!!!!!!

coggy · 11/07/2006 22:15

Rachee.... that you are still waiting.
Hopefully I'll get to 'talk' to you before Sunday.
X

Rachee · 11/07/2006 23:27

DD1 .... what is your age ? day 21 test can be diff , cause don't forget we ov from diff sides each month..... i am on 100 mgs clomid too, normally given to regulate you.... what were your reasons for going to the docs, and going private ????

Good luck XxxX

ShouldKnowByFriday · 11/07/2006 23:55

Rachee, your comment ' we ovulate from different sides every month', well I have been scanned each cycle )except after miscarriage when I took a one month break) since January and I have ONLY ovulated on my right side. Astonishing! I have no history of any gynea problems but this is I am ovulating.

trace2 · 12/07/2006 08:48

Rachee, thinking of you,you know my e-mail if you want to chat!

ShouldKnowByFriday, sorry you are feeling down

DD1ofcolandgerry , i was told even on clomid i didnt ovulate, this months was 19 highst its been, but i got my bfp yesyerday, so there is hope

DD1ofcolandgerry · 12/07/2006 20:42

Rachee,

Im 35, and went to doc after 1yr of trying but no bfp. Waited and waited for NHS appointment, so I went private 4 months ago as the stress of waiting was too much for me .(NHS finally came thru with a date in Dec 06 theres no way I could have held out that long) Im much happier now as my consultant moves quick, and Ive alot of tests already done.

trace2,
fantastic news

DD1.........

Rachee · 12/07/2006 23:10

i am 35 too ! LOL... but i have found nhs brill so far, moving as quick as they can... min waiting times. It is that post cade lottery thing LOl. I am in devon, so think we are over run with oldies waiting fro new hips, so gynee dep empty ! LOL

XxX all the best, keep us informed... be interested if you can keep a running total of the costs, as was tempted to go private

ShouldKnowByFriday · 13/07/2006 00:16

Woweee Trace, that is fantastic news! Many congratulations!!!!!!!

trace2 · 13/07/2006 13:17

hi ladies, am back so quick! looks like misscared last night , just waiting for the bleeding tp come now

dizzy36 · 13/07/2006 14:10

onto ivf if chlomid doesn't work. I have already had 3 iui's that didn't work. Was acually going to stop taking the chlomid now as I have been told that age over 35 less chance of working and as I'm 38 and 4th go hasn't work might as well not put myself through anymore and just go for the ivf.

my fsh is slightly elevated so haven't got time on my side when considering treatment. I'm wondering now whether to give the chlomid another go (got 2 months left).

changing the subject slightly. I have a question and the answer may be related to chlomid. Why am I getting what looks like fertile (slippery, lotionlike) cm from day 21 and the feeling of 'wetness' (sorry). I was dry before that when I thought I was fertile (I went by opk which showed lh surge on day 13). am having the usual sore boobs before af arrives so what does the 'cm' this mean. Temping seems to show I have ovulated but not clear as missed a few days.
Also, we have never bd in the last week b4 my af! I couldnt possible be fertile 8 days before my af is due could I with a 28/29 day cycle?

coggy · 13/07/2006 19:14

You could be Dizzy. I ov on CD18-19 of a 28 day cycle.

dizzy36 · 14/07/2006 14:19

at least still had 10 days (min LP) before end of cycle. I'm talking 8 days before end of cycle. I don't think its possible to concieve that close to af.

I think I read too much into things. start analysing every little twinge or feeling.

Until about 18 months ago I never had any PMS, then it was sore boobs (1st time that happened was convinced was pg!) and a being irritable (for about an hour!) mid cycle. My consultant says that its down to my age. So I usually know if not conceived about 10 days before.

coggy · 14/07/2006 15:27

Actually...when I say I ov around CD18 - 19, that's not strictly true.
The opk tests give me a surge then so I probably really ov on CD20 - 21....a good reason why it takes me such a piggin' long time ttc!!!!

coggy · 14/07/2006 15:29

And....(just remembered!!) when I charted for many months I had EXACTLY 9 days from opk positive to AF every month so, in reality, I do only have about a 7/8 day luteal phase.
