Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage and too nervous to move over the to pregnancy boards? Freaking out about spotting, cramping, symptoms (or lack there of) and nervously awaiting your first scan? Here is a lovely place for lot's of support, hand holding and problem sharing.

Courtesy of owlbooty here are the Ten Commandments of the Freak Out Room.

  1. Thou shalt check thy knickers to the point of insanity until the baby actually arrives.
  2. Thou shalt also check the loo roll post-wipeage (sorry, gross, I know)
  3. Thou shalt bore thy physician and midwife to tears with the mentalling.
  4. And thy husband/boyfriend/family/neighbour's cat.
  5. Thou shalt obsess over the absence of symptoms.
  6. And the presence of symptoms.
  7. And the fluctuation of symptoms.
  8. Thou shalt pee on a vast number of sticks and keep ClearBlue and First Response in business.
  9. The day before any scan extreme mentalling is permitted without recourse to the Haddock.
10. Self-diagnosis with Dr Google is Forbidden.

The Haddock will be applied liberally to all transgressors.

Thanks for the reassurances everyone. I'm actually reall tired but other than that i feel ok so i'm not overly worried - not enough to ring mw. I'm seeing her on weds anyway so i'll just double check then. Think if i didn't have the doppler i might have rang for reassurance though. Glad to hear that dizziness and fainting is not uncommon (although not gald to hear you've felt that way obv).

lucky no we didn't get the +2, I'm going from a diddy 2 seater so its a big enough jump size wise for now. I like the fact that in size its somewhere between a normal family car and a proper 4x4.

Hi everyone
Glad to hear about the good scans for lucky and lily.
Sorry to hear about your experience this morn collie, I hope that you're feeling better now. Do you think you had eaten enough, the amount I have to put away at the moment to keep even basic energy levels up is scary. Although as the others have said, I have read about people fainting a lot particularly in 2/3rd trimesters and the doctors not really being concerned about it at all! Good choice to head home and rest.

Can I ask a couple of basic questions? These bump bandeau things, are they just stretchy Lycra that you put over your existing trousers to keep them up? Some of them say they they connect to your buttons but I wondered how that worked and if other people liked them?

Second question is whether people tell their travel insurance people that they are preg before traveling? I've checked the policy and it doesn't say that pregnant women are or aren't covered, it's not listed in the exclusions so I guess I would be covered if I need treatment (god forbid!).

Your boss sounds an idiot Lara' poor you. I haven't told mine yet as it's too early, but I'll have to do it in another month I reckon and I'm not sure how he'll take it either. When I told him I was getting married he said with a serious face 'i seriously don't know why anyone would want to get married'- he's divorced twice so I supposed that's affected his views, but still!

hairy hope that you're feeling a bit better than at the start of the week? I am, although had to have another cry on DH this morn. He made laugh, said I was like a weather front these days and when the storm was coming he knew he needed to ride it out and then feel the fresh calm weather afterwards! So true.

Finally, just wanted to say that we'll continue to think of you in the days and weeks to come dachs x

dooscooby · 03/06/2011 12:37

Yes, good luck irene x

milkyway07 · 03/06/2011 12:48

Wow this thread moves pretty fast! Thanks for the welcomes everyone!

blackkat if there was a bat in my room I think I would have done the exact same thing! That must have been pretty scary!

Hope you're feeling better now collie

lara I would have been pretty angry if they made me repeat blood tests, as I hate needles.
The worse thing that I have ever heard happened to my friend - she was given someone else's blood test results in early pregnancy, and was told she had syphyllis Shock. She was absolutely mortified and even questioned her husband about it, which caused a few problems. Then a week later she was phoned up by her midwife and told that she had been given the wrong results! She was not happy, and changed surgery.

Nothing much happening here - I've been pretty moody and feeling a few cramps and twinges since yesterday which are scaring me a bit so have gone into knicker checking overdrive. Still worried about lack of morning sickness.
Is there anyone else here who hasn't had any vomiting in this pregnancy? I get bouts of nausea and retching, but don't actually vomit.

Hope you're all well and are enjoying the brilliant weather!

Blackkat · 03/06/2011 13:05

milkyway felt rough a lot, but I was only sick 4/5 times. Generally to do with toothpaste.....eeeuggghh.

lily so pleased that the scan was eventually ok, I was a bit behind at 7 weeks but remember measurements at this early stage are +/- 5 days. I was spot on at 11.

Collie sounds to me like you'd not eaten enough this am before heading to the pool.

Think Minnie, Mouse and Daisy were keen on northern meet up...

Irene can't wait to hear the flavour, and Happy Anniversary, hope you can celebrate this eve.

Off for nuchal scan this pm fx

to everyone, my thoughts are still with Dachs and DH

dooscooby · 03/06/2011 13:53

Welcome milky way. I've not puked once and I'm 11weeks now. I think it partly depends on whether you're a puker in every day life if you know what I mean! I very rarely puke, has to be the worst food poisoning or something but I can feel incredibly nauseous and like I really want to be sick, but nothing. My sickness feeling disappeared at 10 wks but then came back with a vengeance 4 or 5 days later-although I think that might be because I've been really tired as our neighbours have been really noisy this week.

Good luck with the NT scan blackkat

Bumpgrowing · 03/06/2011 14:38

Nope, not a puker either!! Feel sick quite a lot...especially in the afternoons and on the tube and last night I woke at 12.30am and 3.30am and had to have crackers as I thought I was going to vom but the crackers kept it in!! Bit of wretching and if I kept doing it I probably would throw up but I try to keep calm and sip water and get past the puking bit as I really don't like the feeling.

Blackat my dates (scan was wed) were out by 4 days too so its good to hear you were the same and good that Lily has another person to reassure her.

Dachs the service sounds so beautiful and your choices of music were simply lovely. I hope, although tremendously difficult, yesterday will have given you and your DH some peace and it will be a tiny step forward for you guys xx

Irene good luck!

Lara did that happen at St Georges??

Hi to everyone else! xx

Bumpgrowing · 03/06/2011 14:39

ps Blackat good luck to you too!

milkyway07 · 03/06/2011 14:48

Phew - okay that's made me feel alot better. I wasn't a puker with DD either - only puked (I'm loving the word puke!) 4 times with her. The only difference with this pregnancy compared to the ones I miscarried is that I actually do feel very nauseous at least once a day.

Good luck with the scan blackkat!

LaraMi · 03/06/2011 14:50

Hello Ladies

Dachs - I hope you have strength to get through the coming days. The service sounded beautiful and perfectly fitting.

Not much in the way of MS here either and I am a puker! Horrendous travel sickness my whole life - I see it that Mother Nature is giving me respite. My sister, on the other hand (who has never been a puker), had horrific MS for the first 16 weeks. I think there is no rhyme or reason to it.

Bump - yes, it was St Georges... I am trying to tell myself that it won't be a "hotel" experience but hopefully they know what they are doing and everything else will go according to plan. It just feels so impersonal so I will be relying on my GP for any TLC. I am fully prepared now to never see the same midwife twice. Hey, what can I do? To change hospitals would just be too much stress right now (and St Georges is very convenient).

Good luck with your scan Blackkat - maybe you will jump forward and we will be twins again. I liked our symtom-sharing.

Doo - you will be able to get your revenge on the neighbours when you have a crying baby at 2am

Anyone else at a similar stage to me and in a foul mood all of most of the time....?? I am easily exasperated, hate crowds and have low tolerance levels. I also get splitting headaches every day. Drinking lots of water but still got a dull ache.

starkadder · 03/06/2011 15:10

Lara - I'm 16 weeks and am also getting the most godawful headaches...too depressing....but I plan to spend most of the weekend in bed or sitting around in the park so maybe that will help..!

LaraMi · 03/06/2011 15:10

Also - anyone at around my stage getting any weird twinges occasionally in the lowest part of stomach / pubic bone / pubic area? Sorry for TMI but it's not as low as my crotch but it's definitely far lower than my stomach. Not painful but twinges last a few seconds and go now and again. Maybe just wind or stuff moving? Thoughts anyone?

starkadder · 03/06/2011 15:11

P S milky - me too. I felt sick with DS (never actually puked) but not at all with the MCs. Actually, one of them I felt very slightly sick for about 1 day and then fine. This time, I felt pretty terrible and actually yakked once - so I think feeling rubbish is good -although - MASSIVE DISCLAIMER it does come and go (see Rule 7 above).

IreneHeron · 03/06/2011 15:41

Hiya everyone, just posting to say the scan went well, no visible problems, healthy heart etc. We're having another wee boy much to DH and DS's delight. At least I can buy expensive make up without it being nicked or borrowed Grin.

LaraMi · 03/06/2011 15:48

Yeyyy Irene - brilliant news... Glad all is well... Bet your DS is delighted!

YouremindmeoftheBFP · 03/06/2011 15:56

Hello folks. Thanks for the reassurances. I still feel much less pukey, but still getting up at night to wee and feeling physically wiped out constantly. So, here's hoping it's just a blip and everythings working ok in there. I never got this feeling at all with the first pg or the mc, so it's all new to me. I will pick up the courage on Thursday to join the list, I reckon, if I still feel poor!

Waves to all, have a lovely sunny weekend. I'm off to see take that on Saturday in manchester.

Velvetcu · 03/06/2011 16:04

yay Irene on your fab scan news

collie I've had loads of dizzy/fainting spells - in fact I had one today in the car so it's all normal :)

yrmotbfp yippee for possible list joining. Have fun at take that!

IreneHeron · 03/06/2011 16:14

Can I show myself up for the dimwit that I am and ask to be pointed in the direction of the grads thread? Can't seem to find it.

Minnie74 · 03/06/2011 18:51

Hi
Just popping in to say NT scan seems to have gone ok the sonographer said. Just got to wait for blood results on Tues but I'm was just so relieved to see a beating heart that I'm pretty chuffed anyway. Grin

dachs beautiful reading. Was thinking of you lots yesterday x

blackkat collie i'd be up for a northern meet up x

Still bra stresing! I nearly cried in Bravissimo this afternoon when told I'd gone up 2 sizes in 12 weeks. Now a flaming 30gg! Even had to try on a double bloody H in one style! OMG there won't be a size bigger enough if i ever reach breastfeeding stage! Blush

Minnie74 · 03/06/2011 18:51

Irene fab news on your scan too

blackkat any scan news?

Blackkat · 03/06/2011 18:53

irene great news, pleased for you on the make-up front!! Grads are on the pregnancy thread. Hope you are having a nice eve.

lara we're not twins, my dates stay the same but by NT measurement was 1.6 mm, once acrobat bean had calmed down enough for the lady to measure him/her. I ended up having to lie on my side, took about 20 mins all in all, but meant we got lots of good views!! M/w will ring me with the combined results in a few weeks.

YRMOTB Envy Envy of your Take That outing

to everyone hope you all have good wknds Smile Wink

Blackkat · 03/06/2011 18:54

minnie glad all went well at the scan Grin.

I'm suffering with bra problems too, bravissimo was my next stop....oh dear!!

Great that you are up for a northern meet up too!!

hadrian · 03/06/2011 19:38

dachs I was thinking of you yesterday. The ceremony sounds beautiful. I hope having a chance to say goodbye in such a lovely way helped you and DH in some way.

yrmotbfp I'm 10+1 and the last few days have felt a lot less pg. Have had two good scans but still can't believe this is going to work out. Last night and today I have had a general feeling of doom which I'm trying to shake :(

I am going to see Take That in London in July which is something to look forward to! Let me know what it's like
