Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage and too nervous to move over the to pregnancy boards? Freaking out about spotting, cramping, symptoms (or lack there of) and nervously awaiting your first scan? Here is a lovely place for lot's of support, hand holding and problem sharing.

Courtesy of owlbooty here are the Ten Commandments of the Freak Out Room.

  1. Thou shalt check thy knickers to the point of insanity until the baby actually arrives.
  2. Thou shalt also check the loo roll post-wipeage (sorry, gross, I know)
  3. Thou shalt bore thy physician and midwife to tears with the mentalling.
  4. And thy husband/boyfriend/family/neighbour's cat.
  5. Thou shalt obsess over the absence of symptoms.
  6. And the presence of symptoms.
  7. And the fluctuation of symptoms.
  8. Thou shalt pee on a vast number of sticks and keep ClearBlue and First Response in business.
  9. The day before any scan extreme mentalling is permitted without recourse to the Haddock.
10. Self-diagnosis with Dr Google is Forbidden.

The Haddock will be applied liberally to all transgressors.

See here for the old thread.

Dooscooby as luckyfor2 has already mentioned, it could be implantation bleeding. I had a bit of brown spotting at 9 weeks, it only lasted a few days, and wasn't very heavy, but it was enough to make me worry. I went to the EPU and they reassured me it was implantation bleeding, and nothing more.

Hopefully it is the same thing for you, and you bean is just burrowing in nicely.

lia66 · 22/05/2011 20:02

Oh dachs have been away for the weekend, /am so so sorry for you and your family. :) I hope you and Mr dachs are getting lots of support in rl.

RIP alexander and felicia

Reallyusefulengine · 22/05/2011 20:31

Dear Dachs I read your post last night and had a cry, I am so sorry that you lost your babies and it worked out the way it did. A few of us have been following your progress in the past week on our post m/c thread and we have been thinking of you and still are. Lots of love and prayers xxx

Freezingmyarseoff · 22/05/2011 23:50

Dachs Just so so sorry to hear your heartbreaking news. I want to echo what everyone else has said. I hope you and MrDachs can support each other through the hardest you will probably ever have to go through. You and Alexander and Felicia are in my thoughts and prayers.

banana87 · 23/05/2011 08:47

I'm in pain :( It starts in my lower back and radiates around to my pubic area/lower abdomen. Just waiting to start bleeding. :(

Banana - it may just be stretching pains, I had/have them all the time. It could also be wind? Please don't think the worst, although I know it's hard not to.

Morning Ladies

A very sad weekend. I hope you have lots of support around you Dachs - thinking of you.

We haven't updated the list for a few days so I've given it a go... hope there aren't any mistakes.

X-post Coconuts! Coconuts - I have updated it above so please use this version as today's new list!

CollieandPup · 23/05/2011 09:11

Still thinking of you dachs and mr dachs too. You've been in my thoughts all weekend.

silver hoping all is ok with you

banana sorry you're having pains. There's been lots of talk of peoples pains over the past week, some really bad. Like coconuts said I know it's hard, but try not too think the worst. You had a great scan last week (although crap service) so the odds say you should be fine. I know that's hard, given the sad news of dachs this week, but it's true. Xx

hoping everyone else is ok. Thanks lara for updating the stats.
Xxx

Also mean to say to dachs that if/when you feel up to it please let us know where you are/can be reached (maybe let tigger know as suggested in her post) as i am sure many of us would like to send you our love. Take care sweet. xx

OP posts:
starkadder · 23/05/2011 09:18

Dachs - I also wanted to say, if you're reading, and although I am a lurker and not a proper member of this thread, that I know everyone here will be here for you not just now, but in weeks/months and probably years to come. So many women shared your journey and Alexander and Felicia's brief lives on here so, although we haven't met you, we feel like we know you, and them, a little bit. So if you want to talk about them - not just now but in the future - I, for one, would be very happy to listen. In real life or on MN. We won't forget your babies.

dooscooby · 23/05/2011 09:44

Really nice post starkadder and very true, thinking of you dachs

My 'discharge' has slowed down thankfully, although I'm interviewing with strangers all day and am really hoping it won't start again and I'll have to pretend that I'm concentrating and not freak out.

Hope the pain has subsided a bit for you banana, I've got a bit too but nothing too bad at the moment.

Emoo · 23/05/2011 09:52

Dachs I am so so sorry this has happened to you - thinking of you, DH, Alexander and Felicia. I can't imagine how you must be feeling at the moment, but as others have said, do let us know how best we can support you.

Silver - fingers crossed that things are still okay

Banana - I hope you manage to get reassurance soon. If it helps, I had period-like pains intermittently for several weeks of the first trimester and was also convinced things were on the way out... but it didn't go wrong (yet) .

Wombat33 · 23/05/2011 10:45

Lovely post Starkadder as she's absolutely right Dachs, we are here for you now and in the future xxx

Doo glad to hear things have settled down a bit. I may have already said this to you, but Im one of the ladies on this thread who's had a lot of spotting/bleeding in this pg and I've been checked out every time, and everythime they've found no obvious cause for it and no signs that anything has been wrong with the baby. FX it's the same for you.

Banana FX for you too. Lots of random episodes of pain seem to be very normal, but of course it's terrifying every time. I hope you can go and get some reassurance.

Silver Hope things are still going okay and you're not too sore. Are you still getting encouraging movement? Hope the time isn't dragging too heavily until your appointment tomorrow.

Do we have any scanees today? If so - good luck to you all!

I have my own freak out over the weekend as baby didn't move perceptibly for nearly 24 hours (she's normally really active). In the end I phoned the hospital and they told me to go in for monitoring. Of course, the moment we arrived she started visibly dancing away Blush but the midwife was really really lovely and reassured me I'd done the right thing going in Smile

just adding myself to the list as i had 3+ on cb digi on saturday,im also having loads of pains but praying its just normal streching, feeling a bit groggy today too thinking maybe ms will be with me in a few days, still thinking of dachs and hope all is well with you silver i hope everyone has a major streesas free day x

LaraMi · 23/05/2011 11:53

Great to see you on the list, Laylas - it's fab to see this list getting longer.

I have an achey tummy today. I hope and pray think it might be cos I'm wearing tights (that are quite tight across tum), have lots of trapped wind (nice) and maybe a bit of baby-stretching.

Harassed - where are you? I wanted to say I made your banana cake over the weekend and it was a dream. I have had about five banana cake attempted over my lifetime and none have ever worked. This one however was perfect. I thank you eternally (it's on page 8 on this thread for anyone that wants it - I thoroughly recommend it).

Wombat - glad your baby is well. I can't wait to feel kicks.

I keep feeling like I need a wee and then hardly any comes out... Very annoying.

Final rant - anyone had a negative reaction at work? My MD has blanked me ever since I told my boss last week that I'm pg. Bearing in mind I have worked with him for 6 years at 2 different companies, I think his behaviour is shoddy (it's a v small company and I did consider myself foolishly to have a good working relationship with him). At least I know his true colours and trust me, I will now take a different approach. Before I was being really careful to take my antenatal appointments on the days I work from home. Now, screw 'em - I will take them at all random times in the week. Plus I will treat myself to a couple of sick days in a few weeks time. What an arsehole. Surely it's in his interests to be as professional as possible so that a) I do the best possible handover and b) actually want to come back (which I now don't)

Sorry for me, me, me.....

Bumpwanted · 23/05/2011 12:22

Lara just posting quickly as I have a meeting but I think you should pop to the docs and get tested for a UTI. Have you had a test recently? That is exactly what I am like when I get them - constantly needing the loo and then not a lot comes out. Could also be why your tummy is feeling a bit off.

In the meantime, drink loads of water or cranberry juice to flush out your system!

Your boss sounds like an idiot. I do think that a lot of men don't know how to react towards pregnant women. He's probaly stressing at the mo about how he qill cope without you and what he will do if you don't come back!

xx

LaraMi · 23/05/2011 12:30

Thanks Bump. Aha - maybe... not sure if it's that or just pg stuff. I will check and in the meantime, keep drinking. Boss is a cock and no, I don't plan to come back :-)

jigglebum · 23/05/2011 13:09

Hi everyone. Haven't been on for a while. I was so sorry to hear Dachs news - truely heartbreaking for them. My thoughts are with them.

Have my 12 week scan on Weds - it will be a relief to have it done and hopefully everything is ok. DH is trying to take time off to come with me. Not sure I could cope on my own with DS (who is only 2) if it were bad news.

Still waiting to tell people until after the scan but already looking quite fat! I tried to put some shorts on yesterday and only one pair fitted and they were uncomfy! Sure I am bigger than last time round but I have not had the time or energy to do much exercise this time. I think I will try swimming this week.

Off on holiday next week so will have to buy a couple of cheap bigger pairs of shorts I think. Seeing family on holiday so it would be nice to be able to tell them some good news.

laylasmummy09 · 23/05/2011 13:11

just spoke to my midwife and she wants to use the dates of my last af even though i know im not that far along it would make me 10.5 weeks but im only 5+1 i had one af after miscarriage and started trying, missed af and hpt was negative for a few weeks after missed another af and put it down to nc messing my body up then got +hpt a few weeks laterbut i know i can only have concieved within the last 4 weeks as oh was away before that, surely it will confuse things at scans to use last af dates but i will proberbly get a scan at 8 weeks and not at 12, i dont know what to do, anybody got any advice? x

LaraMi · 23/05/2011 13:34

A dating scan in a couple of weeks time? Either on the NHS or privately?

laylasmummy09 · 23/05/2011 13:36

its on nhs in 2-3 weeks i should get a date thursday x

Wombat33 · 23/05/2011 14:30

Laylasmummy if I was you, I'd go for the scan in a few weeks but tell them before they scan you that you think you may only be 8 wks along but your MW wanted to use your last AF dates (so they don't start panicking you when they find the bean isn't measuring 12wks). They ought to then arrange you another scan for a few weeks later when you will be 12wks to do the nuchal etc. Better that than only going once and finding you've missed the window of opportunity to get the nuchal measurement etc because your body post-MC didn't quite behave as you expected and your dates are a bit out. And you'll get two chances to see your little one!

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 23/05/2011 15:48

Layla echoing everyone else, I booked in early and ended up having my 12 week scan at 9 weeks. As long as the sonographer knows what they are looking at all will be fine, they'll just book you another for a few weeks later. See it as an extra chance to see your LO :)

Lara - could well be UTI, have literally got back from an emergency MW and been diagnosed with one myself.

So achy, peeing often but not alot coming out. Had trace protein Friday but not enough for a culture, so it has obviously got a bit worse. Funny story with that actually... Went to the loo before leaving for MW to pee in my pot, and forgot to pee in the pot. Dur! It went straight in the loo. I had the pot in my hand ready. How stupid! So I had to stop off at my MILs who lives one street away from MW office, have a drink or two and delay my visit.. how daft am I!?

harassedinherpants · 23/05/2011 16:02

Hi all, sorry not been on much over the weekend. We're moving next weekend and it's bedlam here. The chaos is not even organised!!!

I've phoned in sick today as have had a blinding headache since Saturday. Mw said perfectly normal and to rest, so I have! Dd home now so all gone out the window Grin.

Lara I ended up with tummy ache the other day after wearing my jeans. They weren't even tight.... I think just dug in whilst I was sat at my desk. Get checked for a uti though, just in case. I'm glad you enjoyed the cake, delicious!!!!

I think my boss is going to have a similar reaction. He bought the company whilst I was preg with dd, so kind of inherited that. I felt really pressurised whilst I was off though, and then pressurised to do more hours than I wanted to when I went back. I'm fully expecting it to be a bit shit tbh!

Layla what everyone else said! It is annoying when the mw's won't listen though.

Jiggle have you tried the hair bobble trick?? Keeping me in my jeans at the moment!

Wombat very scary when they do that!!! Glad all was ok though.
