Hi all,

Sure I'm telling people something they already know but I have found the ovulation calculator on askamum.co.uk quite helpful!

goingmadtrying · 24/04/2011 19:43

OMG!!!!!!!
I think I've been working my cycle days wrong, I always thought the first and last day of your cycle is the same, howver it isn't is it?
Last 3 cycles
28 days, 27 days, 29 days so could be due Tuesday Wednesday or Thursday? If I test tomorrow with fr will it show????

Feel stupid now argggghh

When I went to the doc the other week she told me that your cycle is the first day of af until the first day of the following months af. I wasn't sure either.
The whole thing is a minefield!! x

blueeyedmonster · 24/04/2011 20:40

Sorry to hear about all the bfn's.

goingmadtrying my last day can differ so I kind of just guess as to when I ov to be honest and hope that I can get it right!

75sarah I see you are next, good luck!

We are now swi hope it leads to a bfp in a couple of weeks. Not looking forward to the 2ww as it drives me slightly insane.

goingmadtrying · 24/04/2011 21:40

Sarah according to ff and the other website you told me about the last day of your cycle is the day before your af comes as the day af arrives is cd1 so I've added an extra day to cycle length, at shortest day was 3-4 days out of the predicted fertile time!!

I reckon af is on it's way though as getting mild cramps on and off, although still feeling sicky on and off and cervix feels higher fx for you :)

75sarah is that the clearblue digital ov sticks that have the smiley faces? was wondering if it was these internet cheapies that were the problem. over two cycles have never had a positive despite ewcm etc. Maybe i'll give them a try, but they are pretty expensive.

orangehead · 24/04/2011 23:00

sorry about all the bfn, but as you all know it aint over till af sings so they is hope yet.
Welcome Byrnsie30.
Lilliana Im really suffering with my hayfever too and not taking anything either but it has been really driving me mad today.

75sarah · 25/04/2011 05:53

I'm not sure what to think gmt - either the doc has got it wrong or the expert on the website have. Hmmm. That means I'm either a 27 or 28 day cycle. Oooooohhh, it's so confusing! Confused

Hi dreaming. Yes, it's the clearblue ov sticks that give you the smiley face. I've also invested in a CBFM (Clearblue fertility monitor) and that gave me a further 'peak' day that I wasn't expecting.
I was working it out and if the little swimmers don't have enough EWCM to swim around in, and the egg only lives for 12 hours, it's going to be a bit hit and miss if you conceive even with all the extra help from monitors and so on.

wideawakenurse · 25/04/2011 07:08

Hello ladies.

Wondered if I can pop onto the bus for some
advice?

I am now 18 days post ovulation if I have my cycles correct. Tested on Saturday and this morning, both BFN. I have had cramps forna
Week and waves of nausea and obviously no AF.

I have used tesco's own cheapy kits do far. Am totality confused as my period is never late.

Any ideas?

Liliana1 · 25/04/2011 07:22

Hi wideawake welcome to the bus. There have been a few ladies who have tested an got BFN even after AF is due and they have been PG, just took time for the hgc to show up so with the nausea it's a good sign! Teaco cheapy should be ok, I've never used them though. Hope AF stays away x

orange I'm so glad I'm not the only one - will feel a bit stupid if I've been struggling for no reason :( I have heard from a friend who also suffers that when she was pg she didn't have any hayfever at all and then after her second never had it again so am hopeful! (V sad but haven't been feeling too bad the last day so am using it as another pg symptom!! - clutching at straws or what?)

Good luck all you testers, hoping for you to get your BFP's, we must be due some :)

goingmadtrying · 25/04/2011 07:41

Sarah why can't it just be easy, it's so frustrating isn't it you have no control over it at all, you can do all the right things but it's a game of chance :)

well this morning I poas ready for my hols used a fr and bfn so think I'm out for this month, boobs tender and feeling sicky but definate af cramping,it is still early to test and I also think that even with fr there's a small percentage that get a + early I'll see how it goes in the week and test when I come back

fx and lots of luck with any testing this week :)

75sarah · 25/04/2011 08:23

Sounds promising wideawake. Maybe an early reponse test might pick up a + result for you. I'm keeping everything crossed.
Yes, it's driving me mad gmt. At least if/when af arrives you know where you're up to with it all. Enjoy your hols.
When are you testing, Liliana? x

Liliana1 · 25/04/2011 08:36

Enjoy your holiday GMT and see what happpens, fx.

Sarah all my tests are at home, guess I should be testing thurs/fri for early response but not sure I will be able to hold off till then. Home tomorrow so they will be calling to me!!!

No clue about the cycle thing - the whole thing is dead confusing. I'm surprised anyone ever gets pg!!

Byrnsie30 · 25/04/2011 11:48

Hey all,

I have been working on the assumption that cycle is day 1 of AF until day before AF arrives again! E.g. My cYcle is 31 days long with AF arriving on day 32 ( New cycle day 1)!! I have used askamum.co.uk ov calculator and double checked their info with cheapy Wilkos Ov tests (5 for £2) and the info all seemed to tally!

I have done 2 tests so far. The first one was 7 days before predicted AF (mis-counted and thought it was 6 days before). The other one I did 5 days before - both BFN. I might test again tomorrow which will be 3 days before (but I have now convinced myself it will be BFN!!)

Best of luck to everyone.

wideawakenurse · 25/04/2011 12:58

Thank you all. Although I am out for this month as AF arrived with force this am.

Fingers crossed for everyone else.

orangehead · 25/04/2011 13:14

I think you very entitiled to clutch at straws liliana thats what te bus is all about Smile.
So sorry the witch got you wideawake
Enjoy your holiday gmt

Liliana1 · 25/04/2011 13:51

Ok felt fine when I got up, then had about 5 mins when I felt seriously sick and hot, to the point of thinking I needed to get to a toilet fast and then felt fine again since - never experienced pg sickness, is this what it's like or was I just having a funny 5 mins?

Sorry AF caught you wideawake

Byrnsie30 · 25/04/2011 15:48

I have a question! Can you only conceive around the days that you're ovulating? If so, why bother with the SWI every day or every other day?

blue22 · 25/04/2011 16:06

I think it's because you can't be absolutely sure when you're ovulating, therefore it gives you the best chance of actually falling pregnant - but sure someone more knowledgable will give you a better answer.
Working today so no chance to test, but feel pretty sure that AF is on her way.

Levana · 25/04/2011 16:28

As far as I understand it Byrnsie there is a 6 day window of days per month you can get pregnant. 5 days before and 1 day after you ovulate. I remember reading on the 5th day befoer ov you have a 10% chance of conception, 2nd day 20% etc each day nearer to ovulation the better the chance and then the day after is also possible as a egg can live 24hrs after release.

Timing is critical that's all I know for sure . I've started using OPK so I know at least when I ovulate - it's been earlier than I realised so in the past definitely haven't timed it right.

Byrnsie30 · 25/04/2011 19:26

Thanks Blue and Levana. I used an online ovulation calculator and some home tests and made DH perform despite his bad back. Bless him, he got on with it without complaint.
I've only really been trying since Jan, but since early MC I've become slightly obsessed!

blue22 · 25/04/2011 19:28

I can't remember the stats Byrnsie when are you due with AF?

Liliana1 · 25/04/2011 22:48

Just got home and there were my amazon cheapie pg tests, anyway couldn't help myself and had to POAS even though I know it's far to early. After 5 mins there was no visible line apart from the control line as expected BUT when I peeled back the bottom of the strip there was a faint but very definate pink line. I have read loads of feedback about these and one thing that lots said was their positive line was 'hidden' under the bottom bit. Now totally confused - It should be 6 or 7 days till AF due it can't show anything yet surely - but then if its not can I trust the tests later?? Aarrruuuggghhh!! Wish I had just gone to bed now as will be up wondering all night!

Sorry about the me me me post xxx

DreamingOfABump · 25/04/2011 23:03

oooooooooh liliana good luck for test in the morning!

Levana · 25/04/2011 23:10

Eek Liliana fx for you.

How odd about those tests, I have some cheap ones too, didn't know the positive could be hidden - that's really adding unnecessary confusion to the situation! Hope it's clearer tomorrow Smile
