I started another bus! I can't believe we got full so soon :o

From the last thread:
"He has said - 'no gym, no sex' - that'll do it!"

:o

OMG I love your DH, he sounds hilarious :)

Oh no - I didn't know that about running...presumably walking is OK? (I'm signed up for a 100km (in one go, without a break) Oxfam hike in June [gulp!]).

spidookly · 23/03/2011 17:07

Wow this is really putting the TIDE in ERTD. I had to go out and get better tampons as the puny ones I'd brought in for Day 1 were done in less than 5 minutes Shock

Molly - I think for TTC the fitter (and happier, and exercise helps with both) you can be the better. So I would not stop rowing while TTC.

The advice when pregnant is not to take up any new sports, but to continue with ones you are used to doing. So rowing would still be fine from that perspective.

I know with DD1 I intended to keep cycling and doing things as normal but I became quite fearful of falling and doing damage. Not even in a conscious way - it was more like instinct. It just felt wrong, so I stopped.

But plenty of other women cycle all the way through pregnancy and are probably better off for it.

Youremind - yes, still a December due date :)

Molly I think that if your body is used to a particular type of excercise then there is no harm in continuing (at least until you get BFP). I think the problem is if it is a new form of excercise and you are straining your body in news ways.

Saying that I ride but have stopped as the danger of falling off is fairly high but I'm afraid I don't know what the danger of getting hurt while rowing is.

weimy · 23/03/2011 17:09

ooh shiny new thread!

AF still not here but temps dipped this morning, oh so hope I can stay on this bus!!!!

MollyDefoe · 23/03/2011 17:12

Rowing's a pretty safe sport - if you're not preggers. But occasionally, if you don't lift the oar out of the water in time, then effectively it gets stuck there, and the handle can thwack into your stomach with the momentum of the whole boat. It hurts. A lot. And I'm finding that rowing really strains my back at the moment, so I guess it'd be best to give it up if/when I get a BFP.

Thanks for the advice, ladies!

blushingm · 23/03/2011 17:17

hi - lovely shiney new thread!
welli did a cheapy and it's still a BFN Sad

still having cramps now and again which is odd as i don't normally get those til AF is in full swing and my bras are all tight? even on the last fastener Hmm. I've no idea what is going on except everything odd I keep thinking means pg and still no AF but i'm just find it all odd!!!

peapop · 23/03/2011 17:19

Loving the new thread and BFP's!! Grin Not loving the AF's though Sad

Re the twin thing earlier.. I am a twin and would absolutely love twins myself! Me and my brother are the youngest of five children so from what my mother has told me I've always thought I'd prefer them first if I was lucky enough!

LivinInTheMoment · 23/03/2011 17:31

Nice new thread and great name for it!

rew108 · 23/03/2011 17:43

Hey

af due 31st, when is the earliest you would test with it actually having a possibility of being a BFP?

BlueCrane · 23/03/2011 17:45

Just saving my seat on this nice new (and clean without bits of stale cake everywhere) bus Smile

Sorry about Af spidookly not fair to have the goo for days and then Af finally decide she might make an appearance Sad

molly I foolishly cancelled my gym membership at Christmas as hadn't been going enough and thought that I'd be PG pretty soon so what was the point...well, silly old me...still not PG and now getting fat anyway as not doing any exercise and would have to pay joining fee all over again to rejoin Angry !! I think you just need to be sensible and careful but don't see any reason to give it up before you def know you're PG...and even then take it as it comes. As someone wise on the last bus said 'act as if you're not PG whilst TTC otherwise life gets put totally on hold and you've no idea how long for'.

Strange thing happened today...MIL often has dreams re. people falling PG and they're generally correct - she normally doesn't know who but finds out pretty soon after the dream. They don't know we're TTC but today she said to DH that both she and FIL were having these dreams at the mo and she just wanted to let us know?!?! Hmm wonder if it might be my month after all?!?!? Confused Guess I just need to keep up with SWI and wait and see!

sevendwarves · 23/03/2011 18:06

Welcome baby

Sorry AF finally got you spidookly.

Tanif she said there's no evidence that it isn't safe in pregnancy but if it turned out to be a chemical pregnancy etc it would always be in the back of your mind if the smear caused it so she'd rather not and I really didn't want it done anyway

MickyLee · 23/03/2011 18:12

spooks sorry about AF's visit :( at least you didn't do the test and get a BFN I suppose.

Blue Ooo.. how strange! Bet that put a smile on your face :)

Tanif · 23/03/2011 18:18

"The advice when pregnant is not to take up any new sports, but to continue with ones you are used to doing."

Ah excellent, I will continue sitting on my bum watching crappy telly and eating crisps, then. After all, I wouldn't want to take up anything new and strain myself :D

Although, I recall when I was at 6th form I used to hit the gym pretty hard, 5-6 days a week for 4 hours at a time. I dropped from a size 16 to a size 8 but my periods nigh on stopped. This kind of put me off exercising now.

BoogiesBunny · 23/03/2011 18:20

rew just going by what the various tests say on the packet I am testing four days before AF is due (so on Tuesday as due on Sat) but from experiences on this thread I know it may not be accurate.

LondonGirly · 23/03/2011 18:21

Hello everyone - blimey the thread has moved fast and onto a new one since this morning!!

Thank you everyone for the congrats - still a little nervous that it might not be true, which is just silly. But as I said before will test again on Saturday just for peace of mind!!

Spidooky so sorry to hear that AF got you, I had my fingers crossed that it was going to end up with a BFP.

To answer your earlier questions, yes this is our first and first time of trying (I think that is why I have it in my head that although there was definitely a line, there won't be come the weekend). I am really excited but also really nervous.

Will keep you all updated come Saturday and fingers crossed for more BFPs.

iknowanoldlady · 23/03/2011 18:26

Am about to go to a zumba class, and kept running (well, slow jogging) for a good while into my first pregnancy. I reckon keep fit and healthy and enjoy doing whatever...
Realise that makes me sound like I actually do keep fit. Not really. Zumba is only exercise! But makes me feel better about doing very little else, and sure the folks in the know say you should keep doing stuff as long as it's not dangerous. Which a thwack in the lower abdomen might well be...

weimy · 23/03/2011 18:42

Hi forgot to say congrats to london Blush

Sorry about af spidookly

I do very little exercise, but I go horse riding once a fortnight. I need to drop half a stone so guess now is a good time to start think I might try zumba too!!!

MickyLee · 23/03/2011 19:50

I could never manage zumba. I can't even clap in beat!

I did do the 30day shred DVD all through December though and lost 2.5 inches from my waist but managed to put it all back on again when I stopped.

but we wouldn't be here now would we if we were that worried about our waistlines Grin

Nell799 · 23/03/2011 20:39

I gave up kick boxing when was pregnant in Jan , and haven't taken it back up. I often partnered stepson, and would hate to get into the situation of him kicking me in the stomach .

I also jog , but didn't go tonight because I was worried about it affecting implantation . No idea if it does , but had visions of an egg trying to implant , but getting thrown about in my womb , bouncing of the sides . Didn't know jogging was bad though

When do you ladies test ? After missed period ? I have 5 days to go .

xstitch · 23/03/2011 20:46

WOW this bus is busy.

I think I am losing my mind, imagining symptoms already. Really hungry and keep having to run to the toilet.

In the first trimester the womb is still below the pubic bone Molly I see where you're coming from but I can't see why it would be necessary to give up before a BFP. As you are actively ttc you should know early enough.

MollyDefoe · 23/03/2011 20:51

Well, I did go to the running club tonight, and OMG it HURT! Uphill sprint sessions - ugh. Did have a few cramps afterwards, which I'm trying not to worry about. I'm trying to tell myself that if, by some miracle, I am up the duff on cycle 1, it's better for sprog to get some fresh air (in the womb?!) rather than snorkel in wine. Hmm.

MollyDefoe · 23/03/2011 20:53

Thanks so much for all the advice, guys! It's all really helpful and encouraging! :)

emmaloupolman · 23/03/2011 21:02

Can i join???
Been ttc no2 for 19 months on 2nd cycle of clomid af due 4th april

orangehead · 23/03/2011 21:03

oh my word, I decided to be a good girl today and not come on the computer till tonight. It has literally taken me ages to catch up, I feel lost.
Congratulations Lg and Iknow.
Welcome blush and babyborn.
Sorry about af cookie and Spidookly.
Tanif- sorry about your mc, and yes it is perfectly normal to worry especially after a mc. Tbh I have an awful feeling this is not going to happen for me, things have just not been right since birth of ds2, bizarre symptoms, cycles up the wall. But hopefully me just being paranoid. But I think most people worry about it.
Regarding excerise, I started running a year ago and lovng it. I feel really nervous to carry on when pregnant but also dont want to stop. I actually started a thread about it the other day. A few mn's had replied to say they had carried on running and all ok The thread even got a bfp Grin. Anyway as already said the general advice is you are usually ok to carry doing sports you normally do just not the time to start new ones. Some exceptions to this where risk of injury and sounds lke rowing is one if risk of being hit in the stomach

orangehead · 23/03/2011 21:07

lol at vision of egg being bounced around as you run.
I ahve always thought of joining a running club Molly but I'm a bit scared. It will e worth the effort you put in Smile.
