Hello everyone, just popping in to wish mouse good luck for today at GP, hope you get the note you want Smile and to ask how the reflexology went?

AandR so lovely to see you back, have been thinking of you.

to everyone else, and leaves some naughty but nice early morning cookies!

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 31/03/2011 07:32

Oooh good luck mouse !!

AandRMum · 31/03/2011 10:14

Thank you wonderful ladies - I am with a specialist for the thyroid cyst and he has grudgingly said if I really want tests (crazy hypochrodriac woman tones running heavily through his voice) then he may do them - so I will write a list from your notes! It is much easier if I can be specific about what tests I want but bloody annoying that they are so determined to tell you everything is fine - I have a huge lump on my throat and three failed pregnancies - everything is obviously not fine! With the test for T3 and T4 etc - will testing for ATA pick that up.

digitalgirl · 31/03/2011 12:04

A&R sorry, not sure what tests to ask for but worth looking up thyroid tests on google and just getting a full screening - then taking those results to a recurrent miscarriage specialist. A thyroid specialist won't necessarily know anything about recurrent miscarriage so they're not really in a position to tell you everything is fine. Dr S said even a fertility specialist isn't a miscarriage expert. They focus on getting you pregnant not keeping you pregnant.

wiggle very interesting thanks for posting those results. I only said a cp could be likely to be chromosomal because the further you get the less likely it is (but only in the grand scheme of things, and probably not within our own little subset of rmc). But yes immune probs can definitely affect implantation - which is why Dr S advocates taking steroids from ovulation rather than from bfp.

ladybee I wouldn't self prescribe steroids. There are side effects, it's addictive (so you need to wean off of them) and you really need to be monitored - but you know that. I think Dr S is away for a few weeks which is why there aren't any appointments till the end if April - but maybe he needs to talk you through test results rather than them just giving you the results over the phone? It could be worth having the consultation - doing the tests - having a follow up over the phone (if you've moved by then) and seeing if he can write up a recommended course of treatment and perhaps recommend a consultant in NZ who is sympathetic to his approach. Hope you're having AF twinges (in the nicest possible way).

mouse good luck today.

oneyeartrying · 31/03/2011 12:06

Hello hello everyone. A few days silence but here I am again. I started the week pretty demoralised to be honest after af came perfectly on time (and only lasted 2 days which is strange but never a bad thing I suppose). I went to see the private doc and he has now prescribed me with clomid (days 2-6) and timed intercourse. They will do a scan on day 11 and I need to use opks to check ovulation as clomid may mess up with the dates slightly. I am on cd 3 today and have just had my second pill.

I have a splitting headache (they warned me I would) but otherwise I feel so happy and hopeful that this will fix everything...We shall seeeeeeeee...If it doesnt work with that this month, we are planning to 'splash' on clomid plus IUI next month.

Anyways, thought I would share my hopefulness this morning with you all and say hello...!

oneyeartrying · 31/03/2011 12:10

Oh yrmotb, great you are planning the wedding - it will get your mind off pregnancies... It is possible to shop around but you need time to look into options, bargain about venues etc. I found the wedding magazines quite useful for ideas but they always seem to feature impossibly expensive options.

Velvetcu · 31/03/2011 12:40

hi AandR just wanted to pop in and say I've been thinking of you, glad to have you back :)

Good luck mouse

jolls i hope things are a bit more solid at yours today!

AandRMum · 31/03/2011 12:47

Izzy I just noticed you are a BFP - how exciting - every finger and toe crossed for the 19th. Digi thanks for the advice - the thyroid guy has sorted out some blood tests. I am supposed to be seeing a rmc specialist as well - I am waiting for an appointment to be sent through. Hopefully I can take any and all info with me and see what happens.

Oneyear good luck with the clomid. I live in the clomid capital and there are hundreds of babies around here (esp twins!!!) so all fingers and toes crossed for you.

I second digi Thanks for posting your results wiggle It seems like a fairly unchartered area - the whole thyroid/mc link. Are they looking at Hashimotos? A friend has this and is on drugs for it but has been told it will have no impact on her ability to have children in the future.

oneyeartrying · 31/03/2011 12:52

Thanks AandRMum - is there such a thing as a clomid capital, really? The consultant told me to be careful about twins - particularly because my anti mullerian hormone test (to check egg quantity) is very high so apparently I could potentially get twins. I am quite happy with that though...Just as long as it works.

Is everyone else ok?

MummyAbroad · 31/03/2011 15:11

Just popping in to say "hi", I'm still drowning in tiredness/sickness/too many things to do, so dont have much time or energy to post. I'm 8 + 6 today, and hoping and praying that this doesnt go beyond 10 weeks or so.

hello oneyear nice to meet you.

jolls hope the D&V clears up today.xx

freelancegirl · 31/03/2011 15:25

Hi everyone! Am just at the end of a mc but not ttc-ing yet.

Just wanted to say to Wiggle that your thyroid results are definitely under active. I have years of experience in this and would actually say you would do much better if your TSH is around 1. Really glad they are treating you.

I also have Hashimotos, meaning I have raised antibodies, and I have heard this can mean an increased chance of mc. I found out at 12 weeks that had mmc at around 7.5 weeks. Am now taking Selenium which I think might help with antibody levels. Am just waiting to hear from the doc as to my exact results but will let you know.

Let me know how much thyroxine they give you! But it is great news that you are now being treated. I have been on thyroxine for about 15 years and every few years find my dosage needs increasing.

mousebacon · 31/03/2011 20:51

Hi ladies. I didn't have to ask! I basically got my lovely gp up to date since the mmc and she said 'well you can't go back to work until this is completely resolved' and signed me off for another month! Yay!

I didn't have to go into too much detail as apparently she was part of the emergency team that met to discuss my hcg results.

mousebacon · 31/03/2011 21:16

blackkat!!!! Oh my God!!!!! Just seen your news on the freak out thread. I'm so, so thrilled for you. Here's to a happy and uneventful 8 months ahead.

Mucho love xxxxxxxxx

Blackkat · 31/03/2011 21:38

mouse so pleased that you appt went well and that GP understood - hope you can use this month to really take care of yourself Smile. Have everything crossed that you get good news soon. XX

LOL at you running back in. I'm shocked and still getting used to it. I really, really didn't expect it given all the problems we've had TTC. DH's grin is visible from miles away Smile, while I'm trying to keep a lid on it, so I don't totally freak out!

mousebacon · 31/03/2011 21:46

I really, really hope it's a sticky one Smile I expect full updates, all the puking and tiredness!

Fingers crossed I'll be joining you soon. I've decided to go back for more reflexology in a couple of weeks - I loved it!

xxxx

Blackkat · 31/03/2011 21:50

There's a chair for you in t'freak out room, really hoping you're there soon, everything crossed.

I'm convinced it was the reflexology that made the difference for me, really, really hope it does the trick for you too xx

Velvetcu · 31/03/2011 22:04

Glad to hear you are signed off mouse and that your gp was understanding. Now just make sure you look after yourself and don't worry about work at all :)

I quite fancy a bit of reflexology - is it ok when diffed and what would it help with??

loola2shus · 31/03/2011 22:20

Quick wave to put thread back on my 'threads I'm on list'

Manic week, got given a new job yesterday and trying to finish dissertation so I can graduate! so sorry I haven't been around for a week or so, also trying not to obsess with op a week on Mon Confused

'Speak' soon!

mousebacon · 31/03/2011 22:56

You can have it when diffed velvet my woman said with a history of mc she'd recommend waiting until after 12 weeks just for peace of mind (thinking that if anything did go wrong you'd always wonder rather than there being a specific risk IYSWIM).

Please keep my chair warm blackat Smile can't wait to join you all!

Thank you for the kind words about my gp. I might even brave my scary boss tomorrow - ooooh!

mousebacon · 31/03/2011 22:57

LadyBee thanks for that link. Hope you're coping with all the organising you've got to do, on top of everything else

Hi to everyone else, sorry for not namechecking

Youremindmeofthebabe · 01/04/2011 08:49

Oh, blackkat Congratulations! Huzzah. There will be a stampede for the reflexology now, I emailed somebody last night about it, and am hoping he gets back in touch today, I'm getting impatient!

mouse so glad your gp is lovely and signed you off again. It's lovely when you feel like you've got people on your side. Make sure you relax to the max now! How did the schools results go?

I now am self diagnosing a thyroid problem. Plonker that I am. I looked at the checklist, Tired, ooh, yes, Dry hair, yes, flaky nails, yes. Hmm Hypochondriac, me? wiggle glad you got some answers, and freelance sounds v knowledgable about the subject, which is good.

freelance sorry to hear about your loss.

loola good luck for the op a week monday, if we don't see you. What is your dissertation in?

ZamMummyInGabs · 01/04/2011 10:48

Hello all,
Nowt to report here - DH (& DS1) away till 12th. Oddly quiet without them. In thyroid news, I've had a thyroid function/antibodies test today. My mum had a thyroid lump removed many years ago which counts as "family history" for thyroid issues. My TSH levels were 3.03 when last checked & I have permanently elevated CRP & mystery neurological stuff - hope this will be the root of all the problems! Apparently there is mucho controversy over what counts as "high" TSH , link
here for AandR, wiggle and yrmotb. For those of us with DC already, up to
10% of women get postpartum hypothyroidism.... Interesting stuff. I do love Dr Google :-)

mousebacon · 01/04/2011 10:53

We got our first choice - woohoo!!! Just need to work out how to accept it now!

Been to see scary boss. Not pleasant. She's been in touch with HR (allegedly) and sent me a letter requesting a review meeting for my sickness. WTF?! I've only been off 3 weeks. She's said to disregard it now I've been in but I'm just so annoyed. As far as I'm aware she's not allowed to contact me. Aaaggh!!!

Youremindmeofthebabe · 01/04/2011 11:26

Evil boss. Silly moo. But yey to the first choice of schools! hurrah! Mine's a week on Monday..
