This is the place to be for all those wanting to TTC after miscarriage, or have plans on TTC in the relatively near future. This thread is full of support from people who have been there and no how you are feeling so jump on board and share the Wine and chocolate (or water and celery for those of you off alcohol and caffeine Wink)

The thread moves fast so bob in and out as you please. Ask any questions that have been niggling you or that you are concerned about, perhaps someone here has experienced the same in the past.

If you want to join the stats, just add yourself to the list:

WTTC = waiting to TTC
UCL = usual cycle length

Good luck to all - here's hoping for lots of healthy, sticky BFPs by the end of the thread

This is the old thread ref:

Stats to follow.

Hi olismum - have just written on our other thread about your bleeding but I'm sure other more knowledgable folks will be able to help. Thanks for the Brew!

Hello meliesmummy and Tokyo - sorry you find yourself here.

Still a BFP here but very very faint now so hopefully nearly gone, which makes me both Sad and Smile. Strange.

Hello to everyone else.

Afternoon all,

welcome mel and tokyo so sorry for your losses. have added (i hope) 2 links which offer advice on af's and trying again.

www.pregnancyloss.info/trying_again.htm
www.pregnancyloss.info/waitingforaf.htm

collie so sorry you're on a low today. Valentines day can be a bit tough anyway i think. My dh "doesn't do romance" so i'm very Envy about your handbag. You will get there, are you at work today? if not maybe just hide away at home for the day. Have a takeaway and a bottle of wine and cuddle time with dh. Oh and i went to bed singing that blasted song. Grin

mel i had my second scan in epu there were pregnant women there (although only 1) who went in had good news came out waving her scan pic around to her mother. Soo not chuffed i'd been there back at 7 weeks and saw h/b i was told not to take scan out cause others had had bad news and i didn't. Happy birthday to your dd for weekend.

tokyo i second blackkat i think it can just gather at cervix.

yrmotb glad you're doing well.

blackkat hope next week goes as well as it can.

lily hi glad you're ok will do.

wellie So sorry about dh's grandma, where's she based?

chloe how are you doing today?

aandr mumtum, arti hils ninu baby everyone in common room hope you're all ok. Hello to everyone else so sorry if i've missed anyone.

If any details missed or incorrect below my apologies.

6 days since my m/c on 8th but my hormones must have been heading south before then they were only rising 40% every 48hrs they highest they got was 786 so it does not surprise me it happened so quick im the same as arti sad and happy at the same time its very odd..

Chloe55 · 14/02/2011 14:29

Thanks people for asking after me. I am not doing too good today, sorry me me me post coming up.

I feel like pants and am currently laid in bed knowing that in 20 mins I have to get up to do school run although I just want to curl up and stay here. I am ohysically and emotionally not in a good place today. Was horrid to dh last night for no reason and stormed off to bed. Told him to forget about Valentine's Day coz I am not well enough to do anything. My aunt called today to say my cuz has gone into labour this morning which just brings it home that I am laid here in pain and so is she but both with very different outcomes Sad

My mum was particularly insensitive again and said dh would trade me in for a younger model when I mentioned not doing anything tonight. She said it jokingly but it just fucked me off coz I don't want to feel like this. I want to be the happy golucky girl I used to be, without hurting physically and emotionally Sad

olismum23 · 14/02/2011 14:32

Oh chloe poor you big (((hug))) you do what ever makes you feel better im sure your DH understands Brew

cep · 14/02/2011 14:39

oli it is a strange feeling, but a good sign your body is getting abck to normal.

chloe i'm so sorry you're feeling so bad today hon. I'm sure your dh understands that it's the meds, i know that doesn't make things any easier to deal with though. Do you have a tv in your bedroom? maybe you and dh could cuddle and watch a film? or maybe take your duvet downstairs and do the same. Sorry about your mum being insensitive again, i'm sure they just don't think at times.

artifarti · 14/02/2011 14:42

So sorry you are having a bad day Chloe. I think it is so hard that everyone else's lives roll on and they forget what you have gone through/are going through and so don't always know what they are saying could hurt you (someone sent me an email the other day saying 'sorry about your mc, hope you are over it now' - over it? it was two flippin weeks ago!) I hope things get better for you soon. Sending hugs.

cep · 14/02/2011 14:57

arti 2 weeks that's ridiculous, you can always tell those that have never been there.

Oh Shit i just realised i should have stopped taking my epo 3 days ago, i wonder if that's wy i've been getting achey pains on my right hand side.

meliesmummy · 14/02/2011 15:28

Hi again
Thanks for the replies, it's good to have people to talk to who know this pain. I have a close friend who also had a miscarriage at 11 weeks but she is due to give birth any day now so I don't feel I can talk to her bcos I don't want to drag it all back up for her and she's got enough going on.
I'll look at those links, thank you.
I'm sure there will be other pregnant ladies at the epu bcos my appointment on fri was at 8:50 and this new appointments at 9...plus my experience of that unit is they give you a 10 min slot but then take you in in the order you arrived (I went there 3 times during my first pregnancy) so I think I'll go at 8:30 when they open and get it over with!

aandr you ok ? havent seen you on here unless ive missed it ..

Hey to all ive not mentioned Hope your all ok today ,

me me me bit ....im of mixed emotions...just wish i knew where i was at in my cycle... have decided (as you know) to just sff this month in the hope ive missed all ov signs and am confused from the WTF but really want it to happen sooner rather than later, the longer it takes the younger this baby (trying to think positiive) will be for my wedding in april, already considering the implications of taking a 5 month or less baby to Barbados, OH even suggested last night maybe we should wait till after the wedding ... this made me v Sad and he backed off this idea when he saw the look of Shock on my face !

Also ... just a random here but Why is it when someone christens a day with name ( ie valentines) everyone is supposed to go gaga over it and made to feel wrong or bad when they dont???? i feel so bad when my OH who is not into the 'enforced romance' thing dosent go all out, some women in the office really know how to rub your nose in it....(particulalry the loved up pregnant ones Angry Sad Envy

Oh dear more than a little Blush at such mean thoughts today sorry guys think my yesterdays bad day is till hanging around x

Blackkat · 14/02/2011 16:35

Tokyo well done you for braving the stats - I'm too chicken to try Grin

melies hard when good friends have other things going on isn't it! My BF gave birth the day I was in hospital mc Sad but also Smile

chloe so sorry to hear you are having such a crap time, think Cep's advice is really good if you can manage it. Has DH read the stuff on how to support on the great NZ website? Attached again in case
www.miscarriagesupport.org.nz/helping.html
Lots of ((hugs)) - given you've a great GP could you chat to her abt giving evil drugs (clomid) a miss for a month??

Collie handbag sounds luverly, Smile. Sorry your having a crap day though Sad
Have you thought about deactivating facebook for a bit? I did and told my friends who didn't know about TTC that it was bcs I was on it too much, now I'm just on MN too much Grin you can deactivate and go back in really easily!!

olis glad you got the BFN, for this and this month only! Wink

Cep EPO? hope you are ok?

olis glad you got the BFN

wellie so sorry to hear about DH Grandma Sad - not an easy time (hugs)

Hello to lily06 ifatfirst mouse YRMOTB mumtum (though think you should change your nickname now!!) arti ninu common roomers sorry if I've missed anyone.

Me stuff;
Service is next Friday, thanks for asking collie cep - sure DH will come with me![stubborn and determined emoticon]
I was 12+ when I scanned and at 14 when finally miscarried. Hosp have to offer a way to "dispose" (sorry agonised over word choice but can only find that) in accordance with the law I think. Advice here has been that the service really helps. Thanks izzy

Latest dilemma - advice please. My GP has just signed me back to work - my blood count is high enough again YAY Smile
Spoken to Boss and going back in PT this week. Boss and I had agreed that he would tell my direct reports and peers what had happened as they were covering for me. Boss has been great. One guy has told everyone at work what has happened and I'm furious.Angry Angry Angry
Thinking I will not be able to work alongside him anymore, how can I trust him? still Angry Think he needs some kind of reprimand. DH thinks I should consider a grievance...any thoughts?

cep · 14/02/2011 17:06

lotso good luck

mumtum and blackkat cheers for asking i'm not too bad. EPO is evening primrose oil, which is also supposed to help with mucus, but forget was supposed to stop taking it when v'd as causes uterine contractions. I've been having strong achy pains on my right hand side for the last few days, and am wondering if it's that. Luckily i don't think i've been successful this month anyway so when my af arrives hopefully i won't blame myself and the epo.

mumtum i'm sorry that you're feeling so confused. It is such a horrid part of this whole process, waiting for everything to be "normal" and agree with you about v/day. (have you seen the thread on aibu about the annsummers shop, i thought was so funny.)

blackkat omg that's awful, who is he? a member of your chain of command or a colleague? i do think you need to make a complaint, it's not up to him who knows your personal details. You may not have wanted everyone to know.

LILI80 · 14/02/2011 18:25

Happy Valentines day!

ninu how did your first day back at work go? Hope you're ok?

Big hugs for collie & chloe . collie I think pg women should be banned from posting on fb! I know just how you're feeling about it as my friend is due in 2 wks and is doing weekly posts of "my baby is now 38wks old and can now.." etc etc.

blackkat I've been through a formal grievance procedure and all I'll say is think very carefully before you go down that route. Although I got the outcome I wanted it was very stressful! Could you perhaps speak to your manager and explain how this has made you feel and ask for an apology? I do think the person should be made aware of the consequences of his actions but maybe an 'informal' chat might be better than a full 'grievance'?

tokyo & melies welcome and sorry for you both but we're all a friendly bunch on here and will help you through it.

to cep arti mumtum mouse lily and anyone else I've missed.

Well DD is at my mums and it is the day of love so I guess I'll see what tonight brings Wink

mousebacon · 14/02/2011 18:34

Hi ladies, thanks so much for all the messages.

It's reassuring to know we're in the same boat artifarti let's hope our bfps bugger off soon!

Where are you blackkat ? I'll come with you if you're in the n east? Our service in December was lovely and the next one's in a couple of weeks. I was pleased I went last time but I understand it's not for everyone. Can't believe I'll soon have more babies in the crem than in my arms/house Sad

Aaggh! It's all so bloody depressing. Wine is the answer...

cep · 14/02/2011 18:34

ooh lili enjoy you evening Wink

ninu oos yeah how did it go?

mumtum i think it was you who asked about aandr, i haven't seen a post for a while, i think she's gone to the common room.

mousebacon · 14/02/2011 18:37

Bugger. Forgot to say. Forget grievance procedure love, it'll stress you out and take weeks. I recommend you give him a swift kick in the balls. Simple yet effective. Grin

Mamapower · 14/02/2011 19:37

just popping by with valentines love Smile

Mouse was thinking about you earlier, hope you get the only negative hpt we are ever happy to see, soon (hugs)

cep · 14/02/2011 19:43

ooh second mouse's idea. Grin

hey mamap how are you doing?

  • meant to say probably gone.
maybebabyR · 14/02/2011 20:16

Evening everyone!

Sorry have been a bit absent recently, so busy with work! I hope everyone is doing ok, hugs to everyone, both new and old.

Want to get a few opinions. DH and I have decided to SWI as often as possible, but ignore the whole temping/mucus/ovulation side of things, figuring it would put less pressure on us in the short term. Are we being a bit naive, or do you think that the not worrying will do us good?

cep · 14/02/2011 20:38

hey baby It's whatever you feel is best for you. Not worrying/stressing is always good. I think if you know your cycles and or have a dh who can get across the winning line everytime then no worries is best.

Ninunina · 14/02/2011 21:01

Happy Valentines Day Ladies Smile

I'm not a big Valentines fan, but after reading all your posts, I think you all need a bit of extra love today since most of you have had a crappy day.

Olismum yay on the BFN! Hopefully the next one you take will be a BFP in a months time.

Mel & Tokyo so sorry for your losses, but welcome to the thread. I hope it helps you as much as it's helping me.

Chloe I hope you're in a better mood this evening. Try and ignore your mum's comments.

Mumtum what ever you decide, I'm sure you will have a lovely time in barbados. Having a little one would call for a very different type of honeymoon, but both will be enjoyable.

Blackkat glad you're well enough to go back to work. I'm sorry to hear that some idiot thought it was appropriate to tell everyone. I think you'll probably suffer more if you make a complaint, however I do think you need to speak to this guy and make him realise what pain he's caused you.

Lili & Cep thanks for asking about my first day. It went quite well. I was way too busy to really think about things, and only my two managers know what happened, so I didn't have to answer the "how are you doing" question too many times. Everyone else seemed to buy my "i had a virus" response, and didn't ask any more questions.

I'm pleased to say that I've practically stopped bleeding too. I'm hoping it will stop all together tomorrow. I'm back at the EPU on Wed to check hcg levels, but I think my levels are going down quite fast. My levels were only 290 last Monday, and dropped on Wednesday again, so I'm hoping it will be minimal on Wednesday. I think my hcg levels were probably always lower than they should have been and that's why I m/c. I haven't been offered a follow up scan since everything was clear in my first scan.

Hopefully this quick recoverey will mean that I can get right back into TTC again. I've always had this plan that I would have my 1st DC before my 30th bday, and I'm running out time since my birthday is in December!!!!

Happy Valentines Day ladies, it's footie training night for my DH so I'm not being romanced either.

Hi all - am lying low at the moment just waiting out my 2 weeks. Thanks for asking Mumtum. Am reasonably cheerful and fine - trying not to spend the majority of the day analysing cm and boob prodding.

Baby I guess it depends on how much stamina your dh has and how regular you are. I don't need to do temping or OPKing as I ov pretty much everytime on day 15 (mucus is a good reassurance that it is happening). DH and I just get on with normal SFF until 3 days before ov when we ramp up the action. I think the less worrying the better but for some people the sense of control gained by temping etc. helps regain a sense of control esp if you are dealing with erratic or very long cycles!

Completely agree with mouse approach - grievance procedures are a nightmare. I think a quiet conversation to enlighten the man might work and then a swift boot on the way out!
