That;s it really, when you get the egg sign, does that mean YOU ARE ovulating, or YOU WILL BE ovulating in that mysterious 12-48, but probably 36 hours ?

ALso, when is the best time to do it ? ie obviously as soon as it is red would be good (but what it's you're out of energy), so would it be the day before the egg shows, the day the egg shows ?

Have sucessfully concieved twice before, but have had a miscarriage & confidence has gone

Hi Mojomummy

I am also using persona to conceive. Like you my confidence in conceiving has gone since I miscarried in June. I have a DD who is 18 months. This is my first month of using persona and I have had red days since day 9 and didn't get the egg sign until day 18/19. We kind of went for every few days and when I got the egg sign we had BD the night before so guess we would have been ok. You need to bear in mind that sperm can live for up to 5 days in the right conditions. You won't know when the egg sign is coming so I guess you will probably need to go for it when you see the egg sign unless you have BD in the last 24 hours or so. HTH.

Hi Bojangles - good luck for you then !

Last month I thought I had messed up with the persona, so stopped on day 14 as I as expecting an egg earlier. I got AF on day 31, so assume egg day would have been day 15/16/17.

Today is CD 9 & very unexpectedly I have the egg sign. We had to nip back to bed for a quickie ! I am hoping we haven't left it too late as this is the first time (BD) this month..

Sorry this has caught my eye as I'm starting to despair of ever having child nos. 3 after a year of trying. What is Persona & where do I get it?

Amandeep · 14/10/2005 08:00

Hi girls ...wondering if you could help! Just like to know what is the difference between perona/clearblue opks??????? Also how do you use each one?????

Morning ladies,

I'm on my second cycle of using a Persona Machine to help with conception and it's really helping get to grips with a wandering cycle. You can buy them online (just google "Persona") or Boots sell them for around £60! It's a machine which analysis your cycle by getting you to wee on 8 sticks (16 for the first month) during the month and slot them into the machine. I gives you a green light on safe days (days when you won't get pregnant) and a red light when you are more likely to get pg. It also has and O sign that comes up when you about to ovulate. I wanted to know for sure I was oving and this month I got the ov symbol on day 17 and excatly 14 days later AF turned up! So I least I know I'm sort of normal

I think it's great because I feel I'm getting to grips with my cycle without have to think about temping, or guess when to use an ov prediction kit. I gets my vote (even though I'm not pg this month )

bojangles · 14/10/2005 10:13

agree with everything strike1 has said. I like Persona as it gives me reassurance that I am ovulating and I like a little machine giving me information - somehow makes me feel in control. Whilst the intitial outlay is £60 you do still have to pay for test strips every month and they cost in the region of £8. I though it might work out cheaper in the long run than OPK's.

Mojomummy · 14/10/2005 11:04

Yes, excellent for recognising your ovo times - I ovo day 15/16 last month, & this time on CD 9. If I was using ovo sticks I'd have missed it completely.

Fingers crossed for this month

do you just test once a day or throughtout the day??? I'm going shopping this weekend & thinking of buying it from boots.

bojangles · 14/10/2005 13:23

you test first thing in the morning during a testing window on days requested by teh machine. Aprrox 8 tests for most months and 16 times for the first month. The persona maching inlcudes two boxes of test strips for the first month from Boots.

Amandeep · 14/10/2005 13:27

ladies...how much are they going for on ebay????and is it ok to reuse them??????

munz · 14/10/2005 13:43

I reused mine from ebay - am now PG. all u have to do is reset it (I also gave mine a bit of a clean up - but it was nice and clean) I paid £17 incl postage - but some ppl go to about £30

Mojomummy · 14/10/2005 15:29

I also use leftover sticks - I think that's a con on their behalf, making you throw away the leftovers...no probs so far

Thank you everyone. Have used OV kits from Boots before but thought they were very expensive every month - or DH did!!. Hubby seems happier to discuss anything that can be bought on E-Bay

Mojomummy · 14/10/2005 19:26

With persona you use it for the morning wee, everytime the orange light flashes. With the OVO sticks, suggested time is around noon, to meet with one of the hormone rises/surge (forget which one it is) I did get a positive result with the ovo stick, but just prefered the persona - seems to have little more 'foresight' & more importantly I trust it to give me accurate info.

My advice, buy one off ebay & if you don't like it, or get pregnant, sell it on !
