Hello,

So, I've been TTC on and off for TWO BLOODY YEARS!!!!! And am going to the doctors next week. However, I am the eternal optimist and will be SWI like the best of them for the next few weeks before I start symptom spotting again. Grin

Come and join me and lets see who gets lucky this month!

(But pretty please let me be one. I mean, I am starting the thread, those are the rules aren't they?

Sorry to hear that pink. your symptoms sounded so promising. The brain really is a remarkable thing.
I started spotting today so AF is on it's way. But as you point out, the good thing about that is that I can have a very large glass of wine tonight.
DS and I are on the train at the mo for a little holiday visiting my mum in Norfolk. Wishing everyone a good we and good luck to those with testing still to do x

LoveInAColdClimate · 12/02/2011 17:12

Hmmm, chart now suggests that in fact ovulated on cycle day 22 so wouldn't be testing until around Feb 24th. Pretty sure nothing doing this month in any event as did not have SWI at right times for either forcast ovulation date or apparent actual day - did manage once on day 19 so you never know but am assuming not and have resumed normal Wine and runny egg service, plus had blue steak last night. Will now feel incredibly guilty if I am wrong!

Good luck to everyone else, and sorry to hear about AF, pink - but maybe next month will be our month.

knittymum · 12/02/2011 21:52

Oh no, I was hoping for so many lovely BFPs as well! LIACC don't give up yet! There's still the possibility of a big old patient girl sperm having made its way through!

So, after walking round and round Tesco trying to find things to buy to hide it (how much like a teenager do I sound!) I ended up buying a first response double pack tonight. And now I can sit and look at it and stress out for a few more days! I really am a wimp!

busyboysmum · 12/02/2011 21:58

Pink sorry to hear about af.

Knitty you are not a wimp! This TTC does strange things to us all.

Love you never know - don't give up hope yet.

Lucy sorry to hear your af is on its way - is that a definite?

Girls good luck to those who are testing soon, fingers crossed.

knittymum · 13/02/2011 11:05

I had a talk with DH this morning. If you remember, I wasn't sure how happy he was about the possibility of another DC as this is coming about after a sort of accident, so I've been a bit worried about how he'd react. Turns out I needn't have worried, I think he's less stressed about the thought than me! So I confessed to buying the tests last night, and POAS this morning. BFN, but then it's still very early. 6 days to AF being due, so I'd be right on the outside edge of being able to tell.

I'll try to wait until Tuesday to POAS again, although realistically it'll probably be tomorrow morning. I squinted and squinted at that bloody test this morning, trying to detect the faintest shadow of a second line! Still feeling travelsick (without travelling), bloated, etc, so hopefully with a little patience maybe we'll get our BFP yet!

LoveInAColdClimate · 13/02/2011 14:32

Good news about your DH, knittymum - and as you say, it's very early to be testing so hopefully you'll get your BFP in a few days Smile.

babybythesea · 13/02/2011 15:22

Owwww - my boobs hurt. Very tender. Which is very exciting. I am desperately trying to resist the urge to POAS until Thursday - already wasted one (see earlier in the thread!). Those things are like magnets though - they seem to pull you in. It's like an addiction - must have my POAS fix, now!!! How is it possible that there are still 3 whole mornings to go?? When did Thursday get that far away from Sunday? And just where did my will power go? Who stole it? Own up - I need it back!! And do I really intend to spend the next three days prodding my boobs just to see if they are still sore? (Ow - yes, apparently I can't resist the desire to do that, either.)

VintageNancy · 13/02/2011 15:50

Hi babybythesea - days go extra slow on the 2ww - I'm pretty certain it's been scientifically proven by a boffin somewhere.

Sorry about AF pink and your signs of it lucy

I have very strong AF symptoms including the "feeling" I get in the hours before it starts which means lots of knicker-checking! Pretty certain I'm out this month. Husband away for next 2 weeks so not holding out much hope for next month either but nevermind. Just gives more time for my healthy living routine to take affect.

twolittlemonkeys · 13/02/2011 16:03

Hi again, well I had a great day of spa treatments yesterday. Still no sign of AF (I did another test yesterday morning just to make sure) although now 3 of the 4 in our house seem to have come down with a D&V bug. So maybe that's playing havoc with my system and can be blamed for my imaginary pregnancy symptoms. Still feeling kind of glum about my chances, though if AF still hasn't arrived then I probably OVd after I thought I would have and therefore missed the boat, unless I OVd really really late... Must try harder next month.

VintageNancy - what does your healthy living routine entail? I think I need to be doing more to get myself in shape - my eating habits are getting worse and worse and apart from Zumba once a week I don't get much exercise!

VintageNancy · 13/02/2011 16:55

twolittlemonkeys Prepare yourself for an essay...

I'm going to pilates twice a week (love it) and trying to do more aerobic exercise. I walk once a week at the moment (3 miles) but I want to do a bit more (maybe shorter distances but more frequently). My friend does Zumba and loves it so maybe I should join her!

I'm trying to eat loads of fruit and veg and cook everything from scratch (usually involving some wholegrain or pulses - loving lentils at the moment). If I want a snack I'm having a few nuts (brazil nuts are my fave right now), fruit or a couple of squares of Green and Blacks choc here and there :).

I'm sneaking the extra fruit in by having banana and blueberries on my porridge for breakfast. And I'm making salads for lunch with the aforementioned lentils etc.

Meat-wise I don't have much red meat anymore - mainly having chicken and fish. For dinner I'm trying to have lots of tasty veg with the meat/fish.

I've cut out caffeine - just have herbal teas - that was a real stretch as lattes were a major part of my working day at one point!

I'm no saint - had a major weekend of eating and drinking last week and had a juicy steak last night (oh and fish and chips on Friday!). I'm just trying to balance it all with the good stuff. And I'm only making food that I actually really enjoy - I'm not suffering for a healthy diet. Oh and a nice side-effect is that I'm saving money on lattes and lunches at work!

Here endeth the essay!

lucylookout · 13/02/2011 17:43

busy yes, spotting means it's all over for me. It's why I haven't poas recently, spotting always starts about 3 days before af.
vintage your diet sounds a bit like mine, I've made loads of changes in the name of health. I take so many supplements I rattle. I fancy doing some pilates too though. Is it ok to do it when ttc? I heard something somewhere about not doing pilates when ttc, but it probably wasn't a very reliable source and I'd love to be wrong as I really enjoy pilates.

VintageNancy · 13/02/2011 17:46

Hi lucy hadn't heard not to do pilates when TTC. I have back problems and it keeps them at bay - there wouldn't be much TTC without it IYKWIM!!

LoveInAColdClimate · 13/02/2011 18:00

I have actually heard that both pilates and yoga can help TTC, but I seem to remember being told that you should tell your instructor that you are TTC so they can help you avoid any moves that may not be good if you have actually conceived and are very newly pregnant. But I am definitely not an expert! I do a hoopercise class which I love (basically a dance class with giant hula hoops) but the hoops are quite heavy and I was worried about bashing myself repeatedly in the tummy if there is an egg in there trying to implant! Pretty sure this wouldn't actually make any difference, since apparently even skiing up to 12 weeks is fine as the foetus is cushioned by your pelvis until then, but you never know. I talked to my instructor about it and she thought it should be fine but suggested just doing moves that keep the hoop off my midriff I was worried.

I have literally no pregnancy symptoms to share with you, but since chart shows ovulated so late this month it would be surprising if I did since only 4 DPO.

Good luck to everyone else!

ghosteditor · 13/02/2011 18:46

Hi ladies,

hope you've all had good weekends, even with the crazy rain today! I've been going to pilates and yoga for a while now and pilates especially is excellent for posture and core strength (yoga is more about flexibility). My pilates instructor is excellent and very experienced, so I trust her advice.

The advice on her joining form is "It is inadvisable to do Pilates between weeks 8 to 14 of pregnancy, unless by special arrangement with the Instructor. It is
also wise to wait six weeks after the birth before resuming exercise."

If and when I do fall pg I don't know what I'm going to tell her, but judging from the above I may need to tell her quite early. Hmm.

I'd highly recommend both pilates and yoga though!

ghosteditor · 13/02/2011 18:51

Also, I really need your collective wisdom.

This is my first (proper) month TTC and it's still all very exciting.

My LMP started Jan 21st after a 25 day cycle. The cycle before that was 21 days, but prior that my cycle had always ( always ) been 27/28 days.

If I judge my next cycle to be 25 days, then AF is 'due' on Tuesday, in which case testing tomorrow morning is not too crazy. However, if I judge it to be 28 days, I have to wait until Friday. I don't want to wait!!! I know we've been over and over this on this threads and others - but basically, do you think it's worth it? Given that it's my first month TTC do you think I can just get fully involved with all the excitement and not get too worried if I get a BFN tomorrow? Or should I try to set the tone for TTC in general and wait to see if AF is late at all?

Confused thanks in advance for your thoughts!

LoveInAColdClimate · 13/02/2011 19:04

ghost - I can't really offer any seasoned advice as also my first month TTC, but I suppose it depends if you think you would be very cast down by a BFN? I tested at totally the wrong time earlier this month but was not too disappointed when was negagtive as wasn't really expecting a BFP, IYKWIM. I just got caught up in the excitement and wanted to POAS! Personally, I would probably test tomorrow, but I know I may well not feel the same way when I am still TTC in 6 months time. I know this probably isn't really much help, but thought I would throw in my two pence worth.

emsiedoodle · 13/02/2011 19:28

Hello ladies I wonder if anyone can offer there opinion on whats happening with my body.

AF was due Fri/Sat and on Fri I had a slightly brown/redish discharge only on wiping (sorry TMI). I thought that was AF on her way but then nothing and it all stopped. I POAS late this morning as still no AF but that was a BFN. Now I have discharge as before. So confused, normally when AF comes it comes good and proper. I assume AF will just show up properly soon, any ideas?

ghosteditor · 13/02/2011 19:43

thanks LIACC you're right. I think I'd be ok with a BFN tomorrow with the general uncertainty about when AF is due, but it's hard to be sure! Just generally keen but I do know that realistically it could take a lot long!

emsie hi there! It's tough to know without knowing your cycle (are you usually ever late)? but there are lots of stories on here where people don't get BFPs until much later than AF was originally due. Equally, there are lots where people have randomly long cycles (or chemical pregancies) and then AF turns up. It must be very frustrating! I guess all you can do is test every couple of days unless AF turns up and hope it's a BFP! fx for you.

ghosteditor · 13/02/2011 19:44

a lot longer*, 'scuse me!

Bumpsadaisie · 13/02/2011 20:22

Ghost - I would just leave it and try and get on with life ... perhaps test when you are on CD 30? Do you know when you OVd? leaving it 14/15 DPO is always good.

Emsie - Im afraid last cycle we had something similar - I was always 29-31 days, regularly, but last time round was 38 days! Was convinced I was pg, but POAS on CD 32 only to get a BFN. Tried again on CD 34 and 36, still BFN. I think either it was the stress of trying again for the first cycle (have been more relaxed this month and more sure that I do want DC2!) or sperm did meet egg and it failed to implant properly, delaying everything.

Now I'm on CD34 and am apparently 14DPO and wondering whether I should test ... but actually I am just going to leave it a few days and try and be nonchalant! If I am I am , if I'm not I'm not, and all that [really hope I AM though!!]

Bumpsadaisie · 13/02/2011 20:24

Emsie, just to totally contradict myself though, you do sometimes get spotting when you are pregnant and some people don't get a BFP for weeks post-ov!

Sorry, thats not helpful is it!!

babybythesea · 13/02/2011 20:32

Apparently (I have a new piece of info), a BFP can take a while to show, depending on when in your cycle you conceived. So if you conceived almost instantly after ovulation, (one of those girl sperm that swum up slowly but surely and is now just hanging around waiting for her egg) you will get an earlier BFP than if it happened just as your body was thinking about ditching the egg because clearly you were doing nothing useful this month and then - wait a second- is that a sperm I see??? In that instance, conception would have taken place really late in your cycle, and the hormones needed to show a BFP would be delayed in appearing. Which explains why some people test early and get BFP while others sit with tampax in hand wondering where on earth AF has got to, and why, if she isn't here, the POAS is yielding no results.

ghosteditor · 13/02/2011 20:39

bumps thanks for the advice - not what I wanted to hear but definitely the voice of reason!

I think the reason I'm dithering is because I bought a cheapie two-pack HPT and I keep thinking it couldn't hurt to waste the first one. Silly me Blush.

I should wait, I should wait. I should really wait.

knittymum · 13/02/2011 20:43

Ghost - you should, but will you?? I can feel my resolve weakening as I sit here, and may well end up 'peeing on a fiver' again tomorrow morning rather than waiting at least one extra day!

ghosteditor · 13/02/2011 20:47

knitty I know! [admits to the fact that my cheapies were 2 for £4.50, which is at least like peeing on a £2 coin and a bit of change]

Ok. If you wait till Tuesday, I will too. Will you wait with me? (or should we wait until Weds)?

Also I haven't looked at the sensitivity level yet - if they're not the most sensitive (the level is 10 somethings, right), then I should defs wait!
