Thanks every one. I'm still on cloud nine Grin but have started getting horrible waves of nausea.

Envy < green sick face

DH is so proud of himself. Lol. Like he is so clever Smile

Could I have a cup of ginger tea please?

Sproglet · 17/02/2011 09:31

Congrats everyone who has a BFP !
Wicket I have been where you are at the moment and I really feel for you Sad. But what I told myself was that the was probably something wrong and mother nature has taken care of it and I was glad that if I mis-carried it was early as it wasn't so intrusive and as you say your cycle will get back to normal real quick. With me I tested positive on day of missed period and had a 'period' 2 weeks later.BUT 2 months a long I did fall pregnant with #2 though I didn't test till after 2 weeks of missed period as I didn't want to get my hopes dashed again but when I did my pee hardly hit the stick before I got a BFP ! Also I found it helped by saying to myself that at least I got pregnant so everything was working down there. I know it does'nt feel like it but it will happen xxxxxx

TheWicketKeeperIsDown · 18/02/2011 22:34

Thanks Sproglet. I'm feeling a bit less blue today and just thankful that it was quick and unambiguous. I hope we will get there in the end. It just wasn't to be this time. I hope you guys will put up with me being a bit anxious if we do get there again though!

LPO · 20/02/2011 19:15

AF due on Wednesday, although am laid in bed totally feeling it. Back ache, stomach cramps, grumpy. ARGH!

BeeMyBaby · 23/02/2011 14:20

Righto, now thats over with, back to TTC.

If you don't mind me asking, for those of you who have had experiences like wicketkeeper, would it put you off testing within the first couple of weeks another time? Or do you test so you know whether to take vitamins etc? On a side topic therefore, is everyone else already taking folic acid tablets etc?

LPO · 23/02/2011 15:58

Hi Bee I haven't started taking the tablets, decided I will go about it the same as last time and start taking them once I get a BFP. But some doctors say you should start taking them as soon as you start TTC.

In regards to testing, I want to know, even if something goes wrong within a couple of weeks, I'll just spend the whole time wondering otherwise..

I am due AF TODAY and so far (crosses all her fingers, toes and any other part of my body) nothing has shown. Have said to DH that if still no sign tomorrow afternoon I will buy a test then. So trying to keep myself busy, but keep going to the toilet on an hourly basis, just to check! Confused

TheWicketKeeperIsDown · 23/02/2011 16:51

Bee, don't mind you asking at all. I've been taking colic acid for a while - recommendations are to take it for 3 months before conception if you can, so it wouldn't change anything I'm doing.

Inthink this might affect how early I test, though. I reckon I would wait until I'm a few days or a week or so late this time, as opposed to 3 days early... But TBH I would still have known about it then this time - this wasn't a chemical pregnancy - AF was v late and I had 5 positive tests spanning over a week.

But yes, I think kinder on my emotions not to test early. After this I could do without the whole chemical pregnancy thing, and it would hopefully avoid a lot of the faint line perusal. We'll see if I can hold out though when it comes to it!

blue22 · 23/02/2011 19:13

Hi all.LPO that sounds hopeful
My AF is due on friday - I've done five Blush early tests and all negative so not holding out much hope.
But there's always next month. Feel a bit flat though.

LPO · 23/02/2011 19:29

blue still nothing here. Can you test that far in advance???

OP posts:
BeeMyBaby · 23/02/2011 20:30

So to carry on the vitamin questions, is it only folic acid you take wicket or is it one of those pregnancy tablet which has various things rolled into one (or two is most cases)?

Oceynorm · 23/02/2011 20:34

Can I join?

TTC #1 - both myself and my DP have decided that now's the best time than ever. You might think that i am totally stupid as i am half way through my first year at university but after long discussions with DP we've both decided that now's the time to try for the first as by the time i qualify and get settled in a job i'll be too "scared" "career minded" to want to leave new job too early to start a family.

Both myself and DP want a biggish family also and to leave it until career is fully up and running wouldnt leave much time to 'recooperate' between DC's of the future!!

VERY nervous and excited at the same time. i've been off all contraception for 2 years and never had regular periods so i'm expecting for this to be a long road to the end result.... I hate waiting!!

TheWicketKeeperIsDown · 24/02/2011 06:48

Bee, I take plain ol' folic acid. Generally speaking, if you have a normal balanced diet there's evidence (which I can't quote, sorry) to show that adding extra vitamins in has no benefit. I personally did take multiple vits with folate in my first pregnancy though as I had hyperemesis and survived 9 months pretty much on banana milk and hash browns and reckoned the vitamin spread there was pretty minimal and what there was I wasnt absorbing much of as it kept reappearing.

There has been a lot of interest in vitamin D recently, though, with data suggesting that many pregnant and BFing women are deficient, so I'm going to take a preg multivit this time because of that. All personal views though. Always pregnancy multivits, of course, because of the vitamin A in "normal" ones.

LPO · 24/02/2011 07:05

Bee for the full 9 months of my first pregnancy I took a tablet called 'Omnibionta' it includes folic acid and many vitamins.

I think it depends on what you eat as well as personal thoughts.

Still nothing here. Will buy a test this afternoon if nothing this morning.

AF just started :(

OP posts:
BeeMyBaby · 24/02/2011 14:29

Hmmm, I think I will buy some folic acid in a day or two then, I thought it would be very expensive but doesn't seem too bad if its on its own.

LPO thats very dissapointing for you, are people finding that since TTC their AF is delayed a day or two, perhaps due to stress? Or have they always varied by a day or two?

Welcome Oceynorm, I thought my DD would take a while to conceive as I have an extremely irregular cycle too (as I keep mentioning, perhaps I should find something new to say), but it only took about 3 months (TTC#2 is taking longer). I'm not sure how old you are, or perhaps how relevant your age is, but I would say that the majority of students where I work who have babies, do not finish their degree (though that is PG so its slightly different). On the other hand I suppose, my DH is doing a p/t masters whilst looking after DD p/t and working p/t, so it can be done provided you have lots of support and stay focused.

raqueluchi · 24/02/2011 17:29

Hope I'm not tempting fate by joining this thread!!! TTC#1. Started in Jan and next AF was 7 days late, so had got all my hopes up right from the start. Clearly I'd expected it to just be a walk in the park!!!! Next AF was much heavier than normal. Not sure what to make of that.

we're both going with the "as much sex as possible" according to my ovulation calendar and hoping for the best. Am 37 yrs old so know that if the BFP comes next, it will be really good going. Lets wait and see. Good luck to all of us and let's enjoying trying!! :)

blue22 · 25/02/2011 12:19

AF due today - just POAS again and BFN so all but given up (though obviously still hanging on to faint hope until it actually arrives) also feeling fluey and rubbish and working ridiculously silly hours so maybe that's going to delay AF a bit

LPO · 28/02/2011 11:43

blue has AF arrived yet?

OP posts:
blue22 · 28/02/2011 19:30

LPO · 01/03/2011 09:31

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Wine Sorry that AF arrived, I hope you managed to enjoy your birthday though Smile

AF just finished here so back to trying again.

Happy Birthday blue!

Saw someone else that I know who is pregnant today(I don't know that many people so the ratio really is quite high), and my mother was discussing that SIL may be pregnant with numero two and I am, as always Envy. I am wondering, during the recession they said that baby numbers went up, are people having lots of babies still? Or has the number gone down again, anyone know?

blue22 · 01/03/2011 19:38

Thanks guys.
Feel a lot more positive today and really looking forward to this months SWI. Think my cycles have just gone to 31 days since coming off the pill so will have to adjust my ideas of 'fertile time' by a few days.
how do you calculate your luteal phase btw? And, er, what is it??! Blush
I don't know about recession babies bee is the theory that people stay in more and therefore have sex more? A good old fashioned free activity!!
Watching Chelsea Man U tonight with a glass of Wine saddo that I am. Good luck everyone this month

LPO · 01/03/2011 20:19

Chelsea or United?? DH shouting about Man U, personally I'm not bothered. Thought I'd put a different tone on the thread Grin

SWI will be starting here at the weekend. Thank goodness we were all ill last week!

I had heard that about the recession. exactly as you put it blue people stay in and have sex because they can't afford to do anything else!

No idea about the luteal, I have also wondered that. Anyone??

OP posts:
blue22 · 01/03/2011 20:39

Chelsea because I'm an arsenal fan Grin

TheWicketKeeperIsDown · 01/03/2011 23:01

The luteal phase is the period between ovulation and AF. So if you have a 28 day cycle and ovulate on day 14, the luteal phase is the time between that and the end of the cycle, ie 14 days.

Oh, and happy birthday blue!
