Terrys hope you are doing OK today. [hugs]

Hello to all, especially the newcomers. Come join us for a chat AuntyDoris and we'll try to answer your questions. I've only been charting since June but have found it really easy to get into and now feel like a pro (even if I'm not!)

I hate this time of the cycle ladies. I am 10dpo and normally have a LP of between 10 and 12 days. I feel a bit crampy and my head tells me it is likely that temps will drop tomorrow but it is so so hard not to get hopes up. I've been distracted by xmas so have not had time to dwell during the 2ww.
I also conceived DD this time 3 years ago with similar cicumstances (I'd just had a smear , DP was ill over xmas 2007 and we went to see I am Legend at the cinema). How sad am I that I've had another smear (which came back normal today, yay), DP had a tooth abcess all over xmas and I watched I am Legend on TV last night, just in case Hmm. Loopy loops.

But, pulling myself together, i am counting my blessing and saying hi to you all - Iwish and Getdown we can group-stalk each other!
I think I'll hang on till Saturday to test if AF not arrived, I'll be 13dpo.

MrsP I'm not sure you've ov either - too soon to tell. Keep on swi.

Hoping all pg ladies remain so, hugs to those who need it and fingers crossed to everyone else.

Oh and Iwish and ravenlocks I really remember thinking that AF was going to arrive for about 5 days before I got bfp with DD. I was constantly in the loo checking. That's why I still get my hopes up even if I am crampy. Boobs were not sore until cd 44 with DD.

GetDownYouWillFall · 29/12/2010 22:02

Really keeping my fingers crossed for you MrsA!!! When I got pregnant with DD, implantation didn't happen till 12DPO - I didn't see a rise in temps or have any symptoms at all till then. I think it can happen as late as 12DPO, but usually happens earlier.

It's so hard not to get your hopes up isn't it? Already I have caught myself working out due dates and what ifs etc which is ridiculous I know Blush It's hard to know how to stop yourself isn't it.

AuntieDoris · 29/12/2010 22:05

I am just testing to see if my chart appears.

Pippaandpolly · 29/12/2010 22:09

Hi everyone, I hope you don't mind a newbie charter joining you? I started charting this month (just temps - will do cm next month but am easing myself into all the new things I have to learn!). I'm doing it on paper so I can't show you my chart but I'm a bit confused and wondering if anyone has any ideas to help...

I'm on day 14 (usually 30-32 day cycles) and for the last couple of days my temp has dropped quite a bit - I was expecting it to rise as I'm guessing I'm going to ovulate at some point soon but I wasn't expecting a drop (down from about 36.4 avg to 35.9). Is this as big of a drop as it looks on my graph?! I realise it's only .5 of a degree, it just looks like a steep line on paper.

I was wondering whether a drop might mean no ovulation this month or something?

Thanks in advance for your help!

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 29/12/2010 23:06

Yes, can see your chart ad wow, your temps are quite low.

Hello newbie! (Sorry, on blackberry so can't see your nicname). You sometimes see temp drops just before you ovulate so you should see ov soon, depending on your luteal phase.
I have a 12 day lp but don't ov till cd 24-27. One thing I learnt here is that whilst CM, opks etc can help you understand your body, the only thing that pinpoints ov is a temp shift.
I'd really recommend is using fertilityfriend.com. So much easier than paper. There is a mobile app so you can enter temps whilst still in bed.
Anyway, welcome, ask lots of qns and one of these lovely ladies will answer.

Off to bed, hoping for a temp rise!

Thanks getdown I shall look forward to you stalking me lol and shall be stalking you too. :)

raven I was thinking it was something to do with the P hormone but wasn't sure. I have been on the pill for 10 years so like you never noticed it before. Wierd how we feel all sorts after coming off the pill. I don't remember feeling anything before.

mrsa I must be as loopy as you then as I would do the same things as last time like watching the film etc haha! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and will be stalking you :)

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 30/12/2010 07:13

Bollocks. Nuff said.

GetDownYouWillFall · 30/12/2010 08:44

Oh MrsA Sad Sad Sorry to see your temp drop. But AF not here yet?? I admit it doesn't look good Sad Hugs.

AuntieDoris gosh your temps are low! Do you sleep with the window open??! Grin

Hi Pippaandpolly you are very welcome here my love Smile I chart on paper too, but put all my temps into FF as well in retrospect so have a whole year's data to scrutinise! It's very good, I do recommend it.

Re. your temps taking a downwards slide, mine have done a similar thing this cycle. I read somewhere that during your period progesterone can take a general slide downwards rather than a sudden dip (progesterone is what causes higher temps), so it could be a sign that progesterone has finally dropped and estrogen is on the rise (which is what you want) Not a sign that you won't ov at all. What is your CM doing? That is normally a big clue as to whether you are approaching ov. It gets clearer and stretchier the nearer ov you are.

Waves to Iwish off to stalk your chart now Grin

MrsP81 · 30/12/2010 09:38

Morning all

MrsA, sorry to see your temp drop. Sad

Welcome Pippaandpolly. I'm fairly new here too but everyone is soooo lovely I feel like I've known them for ages already. Xmas Smile My temp takes a drop before ov too.

Another temp for me today that doesn't tell me much. Very confused. Confused

AuntieDoris · 30/12/2010 09:41

Hmmm I never realised that my temps were low. Is that a good or a bad thing?

Haven't been sleeping with the window open or anything|

AuntieDoris · 30/12/2010 09:47

Mind you, I think I am not convinced my early temps are entirely accurate, not quite sure I knew what I was doing at the start!

Also, it wouldn't surprise me if my temps change again when I go back to work. I have been taking my temperature at about 8am, but when I go to work that will shift to about 5.30am. Yuk!

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 30/12/2010 10:10

No AF yet but sure she's on the way. Feel like giving up. Off to wallow in self pity and try to find the optimisim for another cycle.

Thanks for your comments. As always, it helps. Speak to you all tomorrow.

Waving to all.

Iwish · 30/12/2010 11:07

Oh mrs sorry your temp dropped, crap and bollocks! :(
Mine dropped too so have 0 faith now.
Confession to make too - POAS and not even the faintest of lines so I must be out. Onto month 6 eh. :(
getdown hope you are ok today. Will be off to stalk your chart in a moment :)

nix thats fab! Bet you are so happy x
Waves to auntied and mrsp and everyone else

GetDownYouWillFall · 30/12/2010 11:35

AuntieDoris your temps aren't that low really, just lower than average, it's nothing to worry about, everyone has a different normal range of temps. As long as you see the temp shift after ov, that's the main thing.

MrsA sorry you are feeling so crap and like you want to give up Sad It's so unfair Sad Just give yourself a break for a few weeks, I'm sure you will get your optimism back to have another go next cycle. Remember your body KNOWS how to get pregnant and to carry a baby to term. It has done it before. It CAN do it. Keep telling yourself that.

Iwish sorry to see your temps have dropped too. Sad Ah that's pants. Try not to despair, it's so frustrating but what choice to we have but to pick ourselves up and carry on? Hope you are ok.

MrsP81 · 30/12/2010 11:41

Excellent news nix!

Sorry that you have also had a temp drop today iwish.

And MrsA, sorry you're feeling low. Like getdown says, I'm sure you will find your optimism for another cycle. Remember what you wrote at the start of this thread - new year, new start.

GetDownYouWillFall · 30/12/2010 11:46

Hi MrsP meant to say earlier, sorry your chart is still confusing. I don't really understand why FF has given you crosshairs as it doesn't look like you've ov'd yet. Your previous cycles temps are much higher post-ov. I think you just need to give it a few more days to see what is going on. Also keep a close eye on CM to give clues as to whether ov is approaching. x

Iwish · 30/12/2010 11:51

Thanks getdown. It is so frustrating. I took my temp at 7 this morning and just wanted to cry when I saw it had gone down, sad isn't it. I'll have got over it the day after af arrives but each time doesn't make it any easier.
Your temps are going up nicely :)

mrsa we can sulk together! Xx

spilttheteaagain · 30/12/2010 13:25

Fantabulous news Nix, chuffed for you Grin

Pippaandpolly · 30/12/2010 17:36

Thanks for the welcome-am going to go and investigate ff now! Had a rise today but only back to normal so I don't think it means anything.

WhenStNixgotstuckuptheChimney · 30/12/2010 17:57

pippa i used to get a pre-ov temp drop just a day before OV...if that helps.? Have you read TCOYF? its very helpful for charting Grin

WhenStNixgotstuckuptheChimney · 30/12/2010 18:14

Mrs a, sorry you are feeling it :( it doesnt help also when you have long cycles either does it, OV seems to take so long to come round again :( Sorry about the dip, echoing GD, its not over til the redwitch sings x ((hugs))

Hope everyone else is good xxx

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 30/12/2010 19:40

Hello all

Welcome to auntiedoris - hope you get the help you need here, these ladies are fab.

Sorry not been around much, Christmas has been a bit difficult because baby should have been arriving but isn't, and AF arrived early on Boxing Day which was rubbish. mrsA and iwish sorry about the temp drop, but hope AF still not here so there's still hope...I'm also on cycle 6 now, so understand how it feels Xmas Sad...

Here's my chart but there's not much to see as only on cd5

Big hugs to terrys and spilt and anyone else who has had a difficult Christmas x
