Hi Boba82

I started it on the 7th of feb and i am due on sunday
How long was you on it for?
Did you have many side affects?

aMuminwaiting · 01/03/2011 19:47

Yes the opk for the monitor. My GP examined me and said there was no sign of period starting, however if I was pregnant then I should have a positive HCG by now. I'm really depressed. Today is one year since I lost my baby boy and I would have loved some good news!
What could be happening? Any ideas? I don't even know when I can reset my monitor because I haven't actually had a period!

Keziahhopes · 01/03/2011 22:25

Choccie - I can have up to 5 sessions with the ivf, but that is for all cycles you do - and generally you can't go until it has failed!! I don't want to say anything negative in case they tell me to stop Sad

aMuminwaiting - no idea about period, but know some people here had long delays sometimes - Boba, now a bfp, once had a cycle over 100 days!!

Lychees · 02/03/2011 09:03

Sadly, it's a BFN for me so it's most likely a third and final try of medicated IUI then possibly IVF [?]. Too much to think about right now.

Good luck to you all.

boba82 · 02/03/2011 10:19

Lychees sorry to hear that hun x x x

emmaloup I didn't have many side effects. I took the tablets at night time as I'd read this minimises possible side effects. I did get a bit heavier though but wasn't doing anything different so I put that down to the clomid.

I got pregnant after 2nd cycle on it. Was convinced AF was coming as well. My first cycle it took my cycle to a 42 day and the second was going to be a 35 day cycle so pretty convinced it would have got me to the elusive 28 day cycle by the next time.

Have you got PCOS?

OP posts:
aMuminwaiting · 02/03/2011 10:54

Boba was your 100 day cycle because you didn't ovulate and went straight into the next one? That's what I'm wondering is going on with me and if I should just reset my monitor to see if I'm still on highs or back down to low again. I think I'll get a standard opk today to check as the CBFM won't let me do a test until CD9.
I never thought I'd actually wish my AF would come! I just want to know that things are working down there.

boba82 · 02/03/2011 11:43

I know the feeling amuminwaiting. I have polycystic ovaries which was causing the lack of periods. I had to wait 16 months after coming off the pill to find this out though. After a referall to the fertility clinic they diagnosed me by an ultrasound. I then had to undergo an HSG to check my tubes were clear. They weren't due to a blockage caused by a childhood operation. I was then given Clomid but told to go on IVF waiting list. Anyway I did fall pregnant after second cycle of Clomid & apparently it was my blocked tube that ovulated so miracles do happen!

Are your cycles very irregular or is this the first time?

StormBird · 02/03/2011 13:24

Congrats Loup such great news.

Sorry about the BFN Lychees I hope that the next IUI if you decide to go ahead is successful. Am thinking of you.

aMuminwaiting · 02/03/2011 14:32

They were 28 on the dot throughout my teens then in my 20's 27-34 days but after my second miscarriage went to 38, 40 and this time who knows?

They have always been very heavy. Fibroids runs in my family but I was told very firmly that they would have seen it on the scans if I had them.

Today I did a CM check and it is now super stretchy and clear. My GP told me to take the cyclogest for the past two days though just in case so I guess it could be that? I've never taken it before so don't know. Also had quite a sharp nagging sensation on my left side (ovary area). So now I'm thinking somehow I'm ovulating incredibly late. Going to do an opk later to see.

Tv and films make pregnancy look so damn simple ...the most natural thing in the world blah blah blah. It friggin is not! We are all proof of that.

chocciechip · 02/03/2011 15:51

lychees I'm so so sorry.

keziah Yes, I can totally see why you wouldn't want to say anything negative given what you've gone through already. We were offered counselling before we started but I declined, for the same reason. I genuinely think the slump in mood is not 'you' though: as well as the obvious high stakes involved and all the emotions that go with that, you're also pumping yourself full of hormones and that's going to play havoc on your moods as well.

amum On the fibroids, you can be reassured that they would have seen them on the scans. I've got fibroids, and even with my untrained eye I can see them when they're doing an ultrasound.

It took me 3-4 cycles after my MCs before my cycles settled down again so it might be that that's what's happening with you...? How many cycles have you had since your last MC?

I'm wondering, have you thought about charting at all? Because knowing what your temps were doing during times like these would give you more clues into whether you hadn't ovulated yet and what your body was trying to do now. If there's any chance you have PCOS as boba has, having charts to hand might also help to get a speedier diagnoses because temps can sort of indicate this too.

aMuminwaiting · 03/03/2011 10:13

I did chart for a while but my temps when I was ovulating and when pregnant didn't seem to follow the charts online. I think I'll try again next cycle though (if it ever comes).

I've been doing a clearblue opk test for the past two days and they have both been the same. The first line is only very slightly lighter than the second line. So there's high levels of LH in me still but not enough to be actually ovulating. The CBFM gave me 15 days of high before giving up last week and flashing m at me.

Does anyone think I'm still in with a chance this late with BFN?

chocciechip · 03/03/2011 11:18

amum If you don't have it already, this is the charting book most people recommend - TCOYF. She covers all the how-tos and has sample charts at the back that deviate from the 'norm' that might help you get some insight into what's going on. If you sign up with fertilityfriend, I think you can start charting immediately and just re-set your dates when AF comes. The only thing I would say about charting is don't get hung up on the detail and worry about whether your chart looks like anyone elses. The ONLY thing you should look for is a clear bi-phasic temp shift - this indicates ovulation has occured. The TCOYF book will talk about implantation dips etc etc which will have you pouring over your chart and fretting, but take the details with a big pinch of salt. I had beautiful 'implantation dips' at the right time in most of my cycles, but never got the BFP. A consultant told me that the only clinical value was the bi-phasic pattern.

aMuminwaiting · 03/03/2011 16:50

Ok chocciechip thank you. Will give it a whirl when/if my next cycle begins.

aMuminwaiting · 04/03/2011 17:48

I used one of the CBFM sticks on Tuesday and it was really dark but they're hard to read without using the actual monitor. So I got the clearblue Easy opk and Wednesday and Thursday both lines were dark but the one that shows a surge was ever so slightly lighter. And today it was very pale. So my long winded question is; is it possible my body tried again or actually succeeded in releasing an egg this late?

Has anyone ever ovulated as late as day 39+?! Is it even possible?

Last month my body tried to release the egg at about 15 days (which used to be the norm for me) but it didn't happen and I finally ovulated on CD29. I know my body tried again when I had highs CD11-27!!! Wednesday and Thursday I had a terrible pain on my left side (ovary area). Sorry I keep going on but my surgery aren't helping me and I just wish I had a device to see what's going on in there.

fr00tbat · 05/03/2011 08:41

Finally- day 60- and af here- no idea what is going on but so relieved to have started- ultrasound booked and can get blood tests done, must have missed a cycle as am bang on for timing otherwise.
Need hot water bottle........
Hi to all, x

boba82 · 05/03/2011 09:36

mum it is possible, I've had 100+ day cycles before.

fr00bay sorry AF got you but as you say good you can get on with tests now. x

OP posts:
Ilovekittyelise · 05/03/2011 11:36

amuminwaiting you really need to use the monitor, it really is impossible to read the sticks without. when you say your body 'tried to release the egg on day 15 and it didnt happen' what happened that made you think this?

highs come from increased levels of oestrogen which are all relative and only indicate that ovulation is imminent with an LH surge. it sounds like you have might have had an annovulatory cycle and your hormone levels are a bit out of whack; the best thing might be to try and relax and just let nature takes its course and start using the monitor at the start of your next cycle?

aMuminwaiting · 05/03/2011 12:49

I can't use the monitor until I know when to reset it for day one. If I already am in the next cycle I have no way of knowing so I've been doing the other OPKs so I don't miss it. I know I have to just wait and wait now but when all you want is to b pregnant it's hard to be calm.
I have bad pains when I ovulate and I had those pains on the last few days of highs on the CBFM. Which made me think I was gearing up to it but it didn't happen.
I got hold of my aunt who thankfully is midwife and she thinks I probably did ovulate on CD39 and so now I need to wit for F to come in next couple of weeks. I just hope next month is shorter! I have to use a whole box of tests sticks every month.

I've been busy with work all morning but I will take your advice and walk the dog after lunch and try to think about anything else.

SlightlyBabyCrazed · 05/03/2011 13:20

Hi All

Am having a crummy time at mo, started taking the cabergoline tabs a couple of weeks ago and seems to have thrown my hormones into complete disarray - day 13, started cbfm sticks on day 8 - all low so far - not been like this before. Also received call from endocrinologist to say my corticosteroids are borderline high so now have to do a 48 hour dexamethasone test - yet again the instructions state not to TTC whilst using it!!

Have any of the other pcos sufferers here had this test done?

Amum I know what you mean about the using 20 sticks - i did the last two months, but I have read elsewhere that if you do every other day it won't cause major problems, especially when you are having long cycles. I have had the same thing happen with the lines showing on the stick but not the monitor - side effect of the PCSO unfortunately. I would suggest after my recent experience to try and push to see an endocrinologist - they are actually more expert in the world of PCOS I have found - after far too many years!

FX everybody - we are still getting graduates - it will be our turns soon Smile
