Hi,

We were talking about this a lot on the charting thread and thought it would be good to start a separate thread.

There's about 3 of us at the moment but please do join us too if you are TTC with this added probem.

My results were 9.07 and then a few weeks later 5.5. I'm due another blood test in 5 weeks and hopefully my GP should be starting me on Thyroxin soon.

Quite worried cos the NHS guidelines say your numbers should be a lot lower when pregnant. still i haven't got that BFP yet so I guess I'll worry then.

ladygonegaga and Bessie26 - hurry up and join me here Grin.

Mmmmmm..... Gin Grin

sneak I would defo tell your GP you are going to TTC, but 2.9 isn't far off what the guidelines say, so I wouldn't be too worried. Do make sure you get retested regularly once pg though, i think the guidance says every 6 weeks? (or perhaps that's just me coz I'm newly diagnosed?!)

iggy hope you have a fun week away!

Large G&T with lime please Grin

When TTC I used to only drink when I bled... Made AFs arrival slightly more bearable!

hippychick66 · 16/10/2010 15:50

Hi guys. Sorry I've not been on. I lost this thread for a while and have just spotted it as active.

Welcome to anyone new. I agree that under-active thyroids are not documented to cause MC's and I also put my 2 down to my old eggs.

My GP told me that it can interfear with your cycle and make it harder to work out when you're ovulating.

I'm off next week to get my levels checked again and hope I will get the tabs soon. I'm sure mine should be lower when TTC. Fortunately I do seem to be ovulating regularly though. I'm on day 13 and got a positive on an OPK 2 days ago and have had pains since yesterday. The troops are in place so bring on the egg Grin

bessie Hope all goes well with your little bun - 14 weeks Grin well done, lovie. x

Hi there again - just a quick update was 6 days late for AF so did 2 preg tests both of which were BFN :( Along to the docs i went today and he said if i have had no sign of AF by end Dec to go back but to carry on as I have been but not to bother with the OPK's as they waste of money :/

Congrats to super btw x

louin - shit news about BFN & having to wait until xmas before GP will do anything... Are your cycles often irregular or are they always very regular? Have you been stressed or ill? (or anything else which could delay ovulation?)

I don't suppose you chart do you? I started charting when I had long/irregular cycles to help me work out WTF was going on!

hippychick66 · 19/10/2010 09:50

louin Yes that does seem odd that you have to wait until the end of December. Does your doc realise it's only October now Confused

sunny sorry to hear you had a MC before. I know how stressful pregnancy is after a loss - I hope these early weeks fly by for you (daft thing to say i know Smile). All the best, lovie. x

Going to hospital today to take a number and give another little thing full of my precious life blood. In a way I hope that the levels are high enough to warrant the bloody tabs. I don't like all this not knowing and not being on the tabs whilst TTC.

Bye for now.

Hi everyone good news AF started last night 34 days into cycle so thearetically, before I started having that awful depo injection my cycles were roughly every 35 days so I am hoping that AF is back to normal in answer to your ? Bessie26 - dont even know if im ovulating tbh (confused) what day should i start OPK? Advice please x

bessie26 · 19/10/2010 21:47

louin - glad AF turned up (IYKWIM). You usually Ovulate 11-16 days before AF, so yours should be around CD16, but prob best to start the OPKs a few days before that.

Although charting your temperature will only tell you after you have ovulated, it is nice to have confirmation you have actually pushed an egg out! (means you can stop SWI!) Also there are other signs you can look out for to tell you that O might be happening soon, there's a lovely group of ladies on this thread who can tell you all about it!

Louin · 19/10/2010 22:09

bessie26 sorry to sound so dense as am fairly new to all these abbreviations but what does SWI stand for? Also, thought that being hypothyroid meant that you wernt ovulating ? This site and all you ladies are sure helping me though :)

Louin · 19/10/2010 22:16

lol sorry just looked up all acronyms and feel like an idiot x

IggitheImpaler · 19/10/2010 22:17

Hello, thyroid and ovaries not connected, you can ovulate if you have hypothyroidism.
My good deed for the day is writing the following word: sex with intent.
(Better than BD, at least!)

Well over on the over 40's it stands for shagging with intent - but we are obviously more refined over here [hgrin]

I ovulate every month even though i have an under active thyroid. BUT i have heard that it can cock up your cycle and make it harder to know WHEN you're ovulating.

Charting is a good way to get to know your body. You'll be amazed at all the changes that take place without you even noticing.

Hippy have never had the word "refined" associated with anything I've said before! Grin
Its my 2 days of shagging hand_holding just now.
Wishing myself some luck, for once!
