Hi,

We were talking about this a lot on the charting thread and thought it would be good to start a separate thread.

There's about 3 of us at the moment but please do join us too if you are TTC with this added probem.

My results were 9.07 and then a few weeks later 5.5. I'm due another blood test in 5 weeks and hopefully my GP should be starting me on Thyroxin soon.

Quite worried cos the NHS guidelines say your numbers should be a lot lower when pregnant. still i haven't got that BFP yet so I guess I'll worry then.

ladygonegaga and Bessie26 - hurry up and join me here Grin.

hi super glad to hear your levels are ok!

The gynecology consultant I saw (I got referred for an early scan due to 2 MC) told me to get mt thyroid re-tested every 4 wks, but on the letter he wrote to my GP he said 6 weeks! So we decided I'd get them re-done every 4-6weeks fitting them in with other pg blood tests & consultant appointments.

hippy I have always thought of you as being very refined Grin When will you get the results of your test?

to everyone else.

IggitheImpaler · 20/10/2010 20:05

Supersunny that sounds fine to me, obviously if you feel an increase in thyroidy-type symptoms you'd want to be re-tested sooner, though it can be hard to distinguish between early pg feelings and thyroid! 25 is the standard increase. Hope the 12 weeks pass more quickly than you think!
Hippychick I wish I could (stop repeating myself) am on my phone as on hol at the moment and it has mind of its own. (I press the button once, ONCE I tell you!!)
If only DH was more like a blackberry, I'd probably be pregnant by now.

iggi hope you are on hold somewhere nice? It is cold and wet where I am... DH is playing golf later -hahahaha!

I'm a bit peed off, phoned the GP yesterday morning to get my latest results & the receptionist told me I had to speak to a GP, so arranged for one to call me back, but of course they call while I'm at a friends for lunch and I miss the call. So I call them back again at 2 & ask them to call me back again - and they never do!

I was very tempted just to take an extra pill this morning ( I am assuming my levels must have got worse), but I guess waiting until Monday won't make much difference

hippy did you get your results back yet?

Hi bessie I get my results on Tuesday. I agree that waiting til monday should be ok for you but I do understand your fears. We need to feel in control as much as possible - don't we!

Love to all.

well I finally spoke to the GP and although my levels are better (TSH now 6 was 10, T4 now 14 was 9) they have increased my dosage to 50mcg, so am hoping I will be feeling even less tired by the weekend! Grin

hippy fingers crossed for you tomorrow!

super I don't get any symptoms or MS until about 7 weeks. I found it strangely reassuring, and do miss it now it's stopped! Confused
I had a rotten cold when pg with DD & found hot lemon & honey with loads of sliced ginger in made me feel much better (after I have finished the drink I like to eat the sliced ginger - is that weird? DH says so!)

louin how are you getting on with charting? Hope you are remembering to take your temp every morning?!

docs at 7.20pm tonight (late night appointments - new thing). To get my 3rd test results.

I will try to get her to write it all down cos I usually just read the top line on the screen. I wonder if I'll ever get my hands on those tablets. Hmm

Love to all. X

Hope you got some good results Hippychick (or at least ones that don't leave you on the fence anymore).
Evening appointments do sound very civilised!

hippychick66 · 27/10/2010 10:31

Well it had gone back up to 6.9 (I forgot to get her to write all the results down so don't really know what that means). All I know is that it was 9.7 then 5.9 and now back up a bit. She has started me on 50mg of levothyroxine per day.

Is that good????

I get ALL my prescriptions for free now - which is a good side effect I guess. So i grabbed some free lactulose at the same time - gotta keep everything moving Blush

AF due at the week-end so just waiting, waiting waiting!! Hmm

OP posts:
IggitheImpaler · 27/10/2010 13:43

Free prescriptions is the one benefit!
If your TSH is above 2 (as it clearly is) and you're ttc then I def think you should be on thyroxine. Hopefully you'll see a quick improvement (and no af!) I'm in week 1 of the wait and slowly going mad.. Once the cheapo preg tests I've ordered arrive, I don't think I'll be able to wait.[hsad]

hippychick66 · 27/10/2010 16:09

iggi When i first joined MN i was like, "Why is everyone so obsessed with this 2WW???" Hmm

I get it now [hgrin].

OP posts:
bessie26 · 27/10/2010 19:48

what's worse - waiting to O or the 2WW?!

Glad you got your pills hippy & sounds good that they started you on 50mcg - how often do they want to re-test you?

I can't remember if you had any symptoms? - I think they say it can take a couple of weeks to feel the effects, but I started feeling less tired within a few days!

Fingers crossed the pills make AF piss off too Grin

hippychick66 · 27/10/2010 22:36

She says to test every 4 months for a few times (unless i get preg then i need to test more often).

I do often feel very tired so am looking forward to feeling a bit more with it after 9pm Hmm.

No AF yet - but am NOT counting my chickens!!!!

Louin · 28/10/2010 16:33

Hi all, yes Bessie am doing charting everyday - its up and down like a yoyo! Is that normal? Am gonnaring docs tomo and get my TSH level off him as I cant remember what they said it was. BF cant get over that cannot stay awake psat 10pm tho :)

Karstan · 28/10/2010 17:32

hippychick66 - don't overdo it on the lactulose. One of the symptoms of being hypothyroid can be sluggish digestion and constipation, so the thyroxine might help with that, so the extra help from the lactulose might not be what you need!
