Hi all,
I just went to post on the old thread and noticed it had been locked, so here is a new one!
Come on in!

OP posts:
Keziahhopes · 06/10/2010 23:39

Just reading this last page has made me Grin - food abandoned, people so keen for smears etc!! Thanks! x

Am sure I have many tales, but brain blank right now.

Horton · 07/10/2010 21:27

Hahaha, rowing! 'Did you wait?' has made me laugh out loud!

Hope you are all well and things are going swimmingly.

I seem to have a stinking cold, courtesy of DD and preschool. Argh. But I'm feeling okay and generally happy.

Italiangreyhound · 08/10/2010 00:04

Horton, Keziah and all, thinking of you.

Rowing I was so keen to get my smear I arranged for DD to be looked after and headed down to the surgery only to be told I was due in 2011!

I have gone dairy free for a week to see if the milk is causing my bloating.

You guys must read the Inconceivable book, it is so good.

Italiangreyhound · 08/10/2010 01:23

Hey guys look at this

Loujalou · 08/10/2010 08:11

Oh my god. That would be a shock.

Am having my friends round later and there are two sets of twins. One set are natural and the other IVF twins. The friend who had IVF was only 25 when she had it done. I was always against twins but do want 3 kids. However, all this stress TTC no 2 is putting me off trying again once I win my baby so maybe twins aren't such a bad thing.

There is someone else round here who had 3 IVF babies including twins and won her 4th baby naturally!!! There is hope.....

rowingboat · 08/10/2010 14:16

Hi all,

Horton, poor you, having a cold! Wrap up love! I know it's over 20 degrees, but you must wear a scarf. (Horton perspires)

Italian good luck with the milk thing. Is it old wotsername who advocates organic milk because cow's milk is full of oestrogens. Can't think of that woman's name...
I think my bloating is generally caused by packets of crisps.

Loujalou it does seem perfect to have twins, but I can also imagine being out with two newborns and having a nightmare trying to feed them both.

Keziah how are you?

BB what's your news?

LAW are you still around?

MM how are you feeling?

I have now rearranged my blood tests and smear, but now over two days at different times, plus have unrelated hospital appointments. Time to buy a book for the waiting room! Shock

OP posts:
Keziahhopes · 09/10/2010 12:44

Rowing - know what you mean about a book - I am thinking a season ticket for car park would be so useful!!

My medication all arrived today for downregging - 10 days to go till can start!

Italian - I am coeliac, end of bloating 2 months ago!

Italiangreyhound · 09/10/2010 15:04

Thanks Keziah I am doing milk free for a three week period, friends said a week is not long enough! Then gluten free. I HOPE it is not gluten because I will miss my bread and cakes!

What do you eat instead?

Keziahhopes · 09/10/2010 20:18

Hi - if you think gluten is the problem Italian - do NOT stop eating gluten, just see your gp and ask for a coeliac blood test. Once you stop eating gluten the test doesn't work! Simple test, nurse can do it - will show if coeliac, then if not you can see if intolerant instead. It is a pain being gluten free, but can items on prescription like bread, flour, pasta etc. For cakes I tend to make my own ... or eat yoghurt!!! Bought gluten free bread, the best in the shops right now is Genius bread but at £3 a loaf!!!! Well that is my choice of brand, on prescription it is getting better types than I can find in shops, and it is not my idea of fun to go to 3 different supermarkets to find gluten free food. If it is gluten I can tell you specifically how I manage - mainly foods that are naturally gf and no processed food!!

But - have the blood test... also since I am coeliac am losing weight Grin as less hungry!!

newbishad1 · 10/10/2010 12:11

Hi there,

Just popping in to say hello. Thanks for all your really helpful replies about donor eggs abroad. I am almost definiate that this is the way forward. My clinic thougt I might do better than the average 40 year old with a fresh cycle but money as ever is a problem and they explained to me that a donor egg cycle aboad would give me a chance of between 40-60% is considerably higher than a normal cycle even though I might respond well for my age. I have access to the internet for the first time in two weeks so I am about to do some research based on the names you've given me.

Lissy really sory to hear your news. You wee in my mind as we went though the whole horible process at around the same time.

rowingboat · 10/10/2010 19:16

Hi all,
Newbishad glad you are back. It is all a bit bewildering, but much less expensive going abroad and the results for donor eggs seems very good from what I have seen.

OP posts:
Italiangreyhound · 10/10/2010 20:24

Keziah thanks for the advice, am seeing GP tomorrow to ask about tests so will ask about that at the same time!

newbishad1 let us know how you get on. All the very best and welcome back.

Rowing thinking of you.

Sooty How's it going?

Ginger are you still around?

Waves to Lissy, BB, Loujaloo, MM (if you are still around), Horton, Londonlottie and my old friend the rocket maker Choco and anyone I have missed.

Rowing don't read this bit it is the same as on the Feisty and Forty thread.....

I am dairy free now for a few days and miss cheese. My bloating is as bad as ever but I am feeling maybe being dairy free and drinking some Puka herbal tea is always good.

I have almost finished reading Inconceivable: A Woman's Triumph Over Despair and Statistics by Julia Indichova. I want to talk about it but I am sacred I will spoil it for you guys so I will start a new thread for anyone who has read it to comment, and especially anyone who has tried her way out ways!

There is a website too www.fertileheart.com/ I am looking into it, I can't recommend it as I know nothing about it really but it intrigues me. I have been down this route before, looked at a similar (I guess) UK version called Foresight www.foresight-preconception.org.uk/ The 'danger' for people like me with no eggs (and even my periods have now vanished!) is it holds out some hope when really it may be not a reality but the plus is that maybe something would work. Struggling as I did to move my 'massive' weight issues (no I am not quite that bad - you are now all picturing me unable to lift myself up from a bath chair and surrounded by a tartan rug the size of Croydon!) well, with weight issues it seemed other things could not make much difference! But now the weight is slowly shifting I wonder if all over healthy eating may be a wholesome approach. I've tried it off and on but get swayed back!

My AF has still not appeared and I am a bit concerned. I last had a period on holiday in August so that was starting around the 6th Aug and it is now after the 6th October so I think that is well and truly over 2 cycles I have missed. My cupboard is stacked full of tampons and panty liners because I still buy in bulk when I see them on special offer! Yes, we are creatures of habit!

Hugs and chocolate boobs to all

Hi to everyone, bit of a chat room virgin here Blush cut a few years short i have a lovely daughter of nearly 18yrs (did something to be proud of :), a step daughter to be of 10 yrs, but so far no little son or daughter of our own, i suddenly feel old!! i was told by my doc earlier this year i had low progesterone and probably starting "the change" and we could think about IVF! how does that happen?! one minute im 21 and having my lovely daughter and the next im an oldy that cant? (39yrs old) we desperately want to have a little "critter" between us and i really hope somebody out there can give some "oldies" some advice before we take the tough route of IVF, 3 years now with nothing happening!Confusedx

Italiangreyhound · 11/10/2010 00:28

oldyjade welcome and sorry you find yourself in this position and hope you can find some company here. I also post on the fiesty and forty thread for people over 40, you are not there yet but just for the future!

I got pregnant and had my daughter at 39 with IUI but when we wanted to try again we found nothing doing due to my eggs so we have tried IVF and are currently waiting for a donor for IVF next year. I'm not sure I can tell you anything your doc can't but all I would say is that if you can afford it, and you want to go for it, then IVF has helped many couples to have babies they would probably not have had. So although it is sad that you may need it now and didn't 18 years ago, it is sadly the way fertility goes! Sometimes!

Take a look at the book I mentioned a few posts back, it is interesting and there might be a few things you could do to increase your fertility but I am personally someone who tends to go with the doctors! Just get as many opinions and bits of advice as you can to help you make your decision. All the best. Keep in touch with us all if it helps, I am sure it will, lots of people on here have lots of previous experience.

babybarrister hi, not heard of that protocol, all the best with it anyway.

Watching Parenthood. It's heartbreaking and funny, even thought I know how it all ends (not spoinling anyone's fun by saying babies all round!) and yet it is brilliant. Maybe my fav movie of all time! Trying to the ironing at the same time.

Googling aournd to see if diary is good or bad. Found this...

and

and

They are old posts but seem to say full fat dairy is better than low fat for ONE type of ovarian problem, but read if interested.

Then I found this which was quite negative about dairy altogether in relation to fertility!

Now, am confused, anyone else know about dairy and fertility?

Italiangreyhound · 11/10/2010 00:34

Googling aournd to see if diary is good or bad. DAIRY not DIARY!

Cerubina · 11/10/2010 11:00

Hope everyone's well. It's been a while since my last post on here because we went away for a short holiday last week - went to Dorset which is a beeyootiful part of the world and really quite nice weather-wise. We are getting ourselves reconciled to having more modest holidays in the UK for the foreseeable future, having pretty much spent every penny on our house refurb - the well is running dry! If it's always like last week though I think it'll be OK, we had a very relaxing time and lots of fun.

Catching up on all the news...

Firstly to Lissy I'm so sorry the cycle didn't work and hope that getting away to the US to see the family is helping you cope with the disappointment.

Kezia 8 more days will fly by, best of luck with the whole cycle! If you're going to be sniffing your downregging drugs be vigilant that the bottle will run out after a week or so - this is my advice to everyone after nearly wrecking my own cycle!

Loujalou your appointment on 30/12 will be exactly a year after my first appointment at the ACU...spooky. I bet it seems ages away but with me I thought the date seemed quite a good omen - before the end of the year you will be setting out on the assisted conception road and next year will be so much better.

Newbishad hope the research into foreign donors is giving you some interesting information and looks like a good way forward for you. It must be so hard to accept you need someone else's DNA but I hope after a period of adjustment you will feel optimistic and ready to go for it. I know a lovely lady that was lucky with donor eggs in Spain and she found the experience very positive I think.

BB good luck with the first injection and enjoy your half term hol. Haven't heard of that protocol either but fingers crossed it is the one that does the trick for you.

Hi and welcome to Oldyjade, sorry that you find yourself here but everyone is very friendly and do fire away if you have any questions on the process as pretty much most things have been tried by us!

And finally Italian, hope things are well with you. What makes you think you might be intolerant to food, is it that you bloat after some meals and not others? Worth getting tested I'm sure.

As for me, I've got my 12 week scan tomorrow (will be 11+6 so near enough!) and if all is well with it then I'll be going public at work and with wider groups of friends after that. I'm certainly feeling pretty preggers at the moment with extreme tiredness and a fair amount of nausea (only sick a couple of times overall but most recently yesterday so hope that means the little ones are still thriving). I'm also feeling very chubby round my middle and it seems to be quite obvious to people - two colleagues who are in on the secret say it is much more noticeable after a week off. I can't wait to have a bump but I'm sure I shouldn't wish my life away as it'll get big enough pretty quickly if both Meg and Mog have made it!

My husband is being brilliant and letting me be as lazy as I want to be, which is very! I just haven't got the energy to walk far and going up two flights of stairs leaves me puffing and blowing like a whale. But I feel very fortunate indeed and just hope so much that M&M are both well and happy inside. Will report back after the scan to keep you posted.

Italiangreyhound · 12/10/2010 01:42

Cerubina, just wish you all the best for tomorrow. Whether it is one or two of them in there I wish you all the very best for the rest of your pregnancy.

Me, bloating just seems to be my middle name! Tonight I had a simple meal (Thai curry - home made with rice) and a soya yoghurt, two glasses of wine and some fruit and did a half hour exercise video and now my tummy is mega swollen! My hubby found a website with info on Candida. Has anyone got it, heard of it? It seems fruit and sugar (alcohol too) are not good for it! Kind of hope it is not that but also wonder if it is and I can cure it well it may be an answer. From my limited research on the Internet it sounds like it has all kinds of possible implications which I have including possible fertility implications. No idea if it is all true or all true for me. Would welcome some arrow prayers for answers from any prayers out there and also if anyone else has any experience of it, please do shout!

Love to all.

rowingboat · 12/10/2010 18:14

Hi all,

Cerubina I hope the scan went well today.

Italian I have heard of Candida. A friend of mine had it and she had to cut sugar out of her diet as much as possible (not very easy as it is added to everything).
I think your GP would have to check that out.

BB haven't followed a protocol like that. In fact I seem to have forgotten anything I have every injected, it's just a haze. It sounds as if your doctor is doing his/her best to work round your commitments, which is always nice.

Oldyjade, I know it is a shock, but there is a lot of help on here and on the fabulous forties thread. Smile
It sounds as if you have had most of the main tests done so it would be worth investigating your options re IVF. Has your DH had sperm tested yet?

I have spent most of the day in various waiting rooms and had blood taken this morning for the STD tests. It was ghastly, more uncomfortable than usual and accompanied by a horrible rushing noise as the vial was filled with blood. [green face]
Apparently the results will be back next week, but the smear will take 3-4 weeks so will definitely have to delay the FET until the next cycle. Looks like I will be travelling at the end of November.
Has anyone been to Prague in December? I'm thinking, plane sliding off runway and engines freezing. Shrieeeeeeek!

Hi there,

I haven't time to read everyone's responce as I am at a friend's house borrowing the intenet, but will ty and catch up ASAP. Can you keep on sending me the names of clinics aboad if you know of them. Thank you for all the wods of encourgement.

Love newbishad

oldyjade · 13/10/2010 00:08

Hi to everyone, now dont laugh too hard all of you but I feel like my when my daughter started texting me lol etc - em what does DH stand for rowing boat and what is IUI italian greyhound (ah they are beautiful dogs)?! Yep, my loved one had his test before me because of course I thought it couldn't possibly be anything to do with me that was preventing the wonderful bump happening and he was of course fine, then I read all about all of these natural remedies that could maybe help after I spoke to my doc, fortunately in one way he is a specialist in the fertility area but unfortunately at the same time he feels it his mission to spell out what a tough course it can be so im looking for a bit (well alot) of moral support to either try something else first or get a real honest opinion of what it involves. Hope I can get into the swing of recognising everyone's chat and names etc asap but for now i'm the new girl at school and trying to take it all in - apart from that its shocking i have to wait until this time of night to be able to get anywhere near my computer - need I remind everyone - nearly 18 yr old i.e facebook til they drop?! oh what is the forties thread that was mentioned - I'm nearly there!! thanks to all that's read and replied to me by the way

Just a quickie to say everything was great yesterday. It was so lovely to see the two of them again, and this time they were jiggling around and waving so they seemed really "real"!

I have always focused so much on whether or not they have a heartbeat that it hadn't occurred to me the point of the scan is to check for lots of things like the right number of limbs and all the vital organs. Fortunately all present and correct with Meg & Mog/Kavanagh & Rumpole.

We're so happy. I may take my leave of you here now and just keep an eye on how you are all doing from afar. I wanted to say thanks to you all for help, encouragement, biscuits, tea and sympathy over the last year or so that I've been on this thread. I wish all of you success in getting the babies you all want and deserve so much.

All the very best from me.

Cerubina xx

newbishad1 · 13/10/2010 14:25

Cerbubina,

Good luck and lovely to hear from you.

Rowing: Are you heading to a clinic in Prague by any chance. How are you finding it? I have just send Reprofit an email.

Londonlottie: Yes, I hope to be hitting the snow sometime.

Lots of love and must go now.

Newbishad
