Hi all,
I just went to post on the old thread and noticed it had been locked, so here is a new one!
Come on in!

OP posts:
Italiangreyhound · 14/02/2011 02:45

Choco enjoy your time.

Kexiah Hope all is going well.

Lissy how are you my dear, are you on holiday yet?

Val how are you?

Rowing any news?

Shirley any news?

*Horton@ how goes it, lovely to hear from you.

Sorry to miss anyone off, thinking of you all.

Just finishing my Brew and off to bed.

Keziahhopes · 14/02/2011 12:00

Italian - sounds a really productive meeting with consultant, with thyroid identified as an issue and improving with tablets and a change of protocol to allow for clotting factor issues sounds really hopeful. So when you have your cycle your thryoid should be 2!! Yay, that is good news.

All going well here, with injections though no side effects yet, hope I miss all the nasty ones! Oh no, the teacup gone!! just this now Brew, sulk, I liked the teacup.

rowingboat · 14/02/2011 12:40

Hi all,
lost this thread, so bookmarking.
Back soon
It's all happening!!!!

LissySilver · 14/02/2011 15:02

Hi girls, still lurking.

Italian-Holiday not until the end of March. Six weeks to go!

Keziah-Glad to hear injections are going well. Keep up the good work!

rowing-YAY!! Keep us posted! You can do it, girl...

AFM, not much happening here. Have the week off to laze around and do nothing, but not really doing nothing as boiler is on its way to crapping out. So getting estimates, blah blah blah.

Had a lovely Valentine's meal with DH last night, and we're planning on an afternoon movie on Wednesday.

Love and hugs to all!

shirleycat1 · 14/02/2011 16:05

Hey Italian, thanks for milk info. I think i've made my decision. I feel a lot more stressed about things than I did last time. I wish there wasn't so many choices to have to make. It's all good though - I think I just need to get started again. Where's this bloody af?

Big hellos to everyone...

rowingboat · 14/02/2011 22:31

Hi all,
Shirley what a nightmare with the milk thing, you must have a headache. There are so many contradictory sources of information, and none of them seem to offer a definitive answer.
Zita says go organic because milk which is non-organic may be full of hormones, oestrogen to be specific, which I suppose could interfere with the hormone regime for IVF. On the other hand plenty of women get pg and don't drink organic milk. Anyhow, organic milk is easy to get hold of and not very expensive, compared to oat milk or yak's milk or whatever.
Re the exercise, I walked miles when I was expecting DS and when I fell pg years ago I was doing quite a bit of running and walking. It could just be that I weighed less because of the exercise that I conceived? I have seen a report which suggests more than three hours of exercise a week can impact on fertility, but I don't remember the exact details.
If you google it you will probably find it.
The no exercise thing seems a bit over the top, surely people need a bit of exercise to keep their respiratory system in good shape.

Sorry, I haven't really helped, but I hope you find a way that suits you.

Lissy I hope your boiler is sorted soon.

Italian I'm glad to hear that your doctor is helping. What is the clotting indicator?

Keziah poor you having to eat fish. I'm not a huge fan either.

LAW how are you getting on?

My news is that that the red clover seems to be working (scared to type that) because I'm on CD11 and haven't had a positive OPK, so I'm hoping I have pushed back ovulation.
I've got a flight booked for next Tuesday.
Can't believe how much money I have wasted on changing flights and booking the wrong flights!! I'm such a thicko! Luckily I'm hugely wealthy Hmm [crazed laughter, van screeches up outside house to take Rowing away]

OP posts:
Italiangreyhound · 14/02/2011 23:47

Rowing not sure what the clotting factor is called but if you are tested for it then there is a result, I will try and find out if I can.

Good luck.

Gum (formerly Gumblossom and also now called Hoepfulgumblossom or hopefulgum) on the feisty and forty thread was asking after you so I just said you still post here Rowing.

Shirley all the best.

I think the exercise things is because it is assisted conception. Of course the average Jo or Jenny gets pregnant all the time doing all manner of thins including drinking, smoking and the like but for us who need a bit of tender care I think the idea is to take it easy. I would IMAGINE (I don't know so do ask) that those who are used to doing lots of exercise might be in a different league to saps like me! My own policy s not to do anything very different to normal, other than to rest well, eat well etc but simply and nothing weird, no upset tummies etc. I think at the end of the day I just want to be sure that I am not doing anything to impair the implantation process but I am a typical 'good' girl when it comes to following docs order!

Brew Brew herbal of course!

shirleycat1 · 15/02/2011 18:17

Hey, thanks everyone for advice and support. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. DP is great, as are lots of friends and family, but no one really knows what it's like to have to navigate your way through all this.

Rowing- I've booked flights on completely the wrong date in the past. You feel like an idiot, but I do stuff like that all the time. Sending emails without attachments to important people for work is something that I do at least once a week. I think people much think I'm a right flake! Flight next Tuesday for you - how exciting. What's the time scale from then?

Italian - I'm not so obedient when it comes to being told what to do generally, but in this instance I try. The problem is the conflicting opinions and then me having to make a choice, leaving me feeling very responsible in not a good way!

Keziah - How's things going?

Italiangreyhound · 15/02/2011 20:41

Shirleycat sorry you feel a bit of pressure, it is a tough time. I guess the important thing to remember is to just take it easy. I was told not to do anything that would over exert myself, like digging out a fish pond or spring cleaning. So an excuse to be untidy at last.

God bless, all the best. Brew Brew

shirleycat1 · 16/02/2011 20:27

Hey Italian, well I certainly won't be digging out a fishpond any time soon.

I've got another question for all you ladies who seem to be much better informed than me - what about sex after embryo transfer? Is it allowed or not? I have again heard lots of conflicting stuff, so if any of you can offer any light, please do.

Hello to everyone and thanks for all your advice...

rowingboat · 17/02/2011 18:47

Hi all,
Shirley, you'll never guess...there are lots of different opinions on whether to have sex or abstain. Is there anything clinics actually agree on??? Grin
My last clinics were both fine with sex after treatment and both have good to average success, but quite a few clinics advise abstinence.
I read a report a while ago where they found couples having sex before and after transfer had a better chance of sustaining a pregnancy. They found the clinical pg rates at the test were roughly the same, but that there was a significant difference a few months down the line, with the sexually active couples being more likely to have a continuing pregnancy.
It does seem kind of obvious that sperm is part of making a baby so I'm inclined to think there is something in it which helps things along.

OP posts:
Keziahhopes · 18/02/2011 18:08

Gosh, I am looking forward to no sex after so many years of ttc! If that makes sense!! The thought of straight after transfer never thought of. Gosh, what a dilemma.

Am waiting for af to arrive now - it is not early, then can book my downregging scan!

Italiangreyhound · 20/02/2011 02:10

Keziah Enjoy your sex free time! Brew

Rowing hugs. Thinking of you. Brew

Horton How are you? {wine]

Choco How you doing? Wine

Dueling, Penguin and Mojangles do you still look in on us?

Sorry not to name check any more, it is late! Just wanted to let you know how I am doing.

I tried to follow the SME programme (sperm meets egg - lots of sex) but in reality I?ve just kind of ended up doing what I normally do, sex every two days from end of period. Don?t get worried, Hubby and I did have sex during my 6 months without a period but I am sure I have been keener since my period returned! I am now 46, which I think firmly places me as the oldest bird on here and even on the forty thread!

Feeling positive as I hear the list is moving well and we may get our donor egg soon. Really hope it does work this time and if not we will take stock. We will not have any more treatment after this final one; it really is the end for us. If it does not work we may look at adoption but we will cross that road when, and if, we get to it. For the first time in ages I do feel very calm and in control.

My weight loss is happening very slowly but it is working, I think, and I am also getting and feeling fitter due to being part of the Rosemary Conley classes locally. Although the TV programme about low fat foods put me off low fat foods!

Idreaminchocolate · 20/02/2011 22:17

Hello!

Just a litle note to say "hi", really! Not got a lot to say - I am lurking and am thinking of you all, though.

Italian - glad to hear that you feel in control, that must be a nice feeling!!

We need to get back to the SME (I like that!!) method - for a couple TTC we really don't have much of the sex (today - DH's birthday - was the first time in 4 months - my birthday). The consultant did say that it was virtually impossible that we'd get pregnant naturally,, though (however a few bonks might save us several thousand quid!!!). Italian, enjoy your SME project!! xxxxx

Italiangreyhound · 20/02/2011 23:28

choco give it a go, waiting a long time probably means the pressure is on for it to be a major event!

Brew
Italiangreyhound · 21/02/2011 00:42

Just posted this on the other thread!

I can't believe I am 'confessing ?that I am watching Tool Academy on channel 4, but it is actually very enlightening! My hubby would fit in better with Beauty and the Geek than Tool Academy! I do not fit into either category! I would fit better into the Biggest Looser but like to picture myself in The Apprentice!

So if you were in a TV reality show, which one would it be?? (OOOhhhh I dare someone to say the Model Agency - Wednesday at 10.00!) I know we all really want to be 'One born every minute'! Good luck girls. Wink

Naz2011 · 21/02/2011 01:40

Hi does anyone know if it's ok to have a break when taking clomid? I have been taking it for 3 months and wanted a 1 month break before taking the next set if tablets. Has anyone ever conceived after doing this?

Thanks in advance xxx

womanlytales · 21/02/2011 16:00

Hi everyone, It's been a really useful discussion regarding milk, exercise and SME projects..thank you all for sharing.
I have just completed my first coordination appt for IUI. This is after 3 rounds of Clomid (50mg) that didn't work for us. Naz I had a 2 month break between #1 and #2 of Clomid due to the logistics of going from private to NHS. My body did not respond to Clomid though I don't think it had anything to do with the break. (if that helps?) I am sure you would hear another person say just the opposite - this is the issue with this whole fertility space..there are tons of contradictory states...

The appt went ok. I was told about the process - am a bit alarmed at the amount of injections I could be taking... Nurse told us to have only protected sex and told me no running - - so I am concerned my weight is going to sky rocket given my fondness for food! Also running really keeps me sane and I love doing it -- so not sure how it would be forgoing that. I want to be good and follow directions...but a part of me is wondering if this is a bit too extreme. The protected sex part was also a bit weird....

I have a 40 day cycle these days so it will be another 3 week wait till I get to start.. Am quite nervous and at the same time anxious to get started.

Brief history about myself - Am 35, have been ttc for 2 years, have PCOS, Am overweight (5 kilos away from being a normal BMI), Issue seems to be primarily around ovulation -- Medicated with Clomid or without a dominant follicle grows till about 18-20mm but with hcg injection or not, the damn thing won't let the egg free!!! Am generally stressed about weight and fertility. Though much better now than last year where I was definitely losing it all!!!

Idreaminchocolate · 21/02/2011 21:21

Italian you are SO right. When you haven't done it for ages it's a bit weird!

As for which reality TV programme - me & DH have just signed up for a Come Dine With Me contest with 3 other couples!!

Hi Womanlytales! I suggest that you have a chat with your consultant - he/she will be best-placed to advise.

xx

Naz2011 · 21/02/2011 22:58

Womanlytales - Hi thanks for replying. I used clomid last time and got pregnant first cycle. This time iv just finished my 3rd cycle but nothing hence wanting a break. Also last time I went on a low gi diet which helped control my pcos symptoms after I lost a stone on thus diet, think I need to do this again. I just hope taking a break doesn't ruin my chances!!! Good luck guys. Ps the low gi diet is excellent for women with pcos I know a few ( including myself) who have tried it and it worked. Y don't u check it out xxx

Keziahhopes · 21/02/2011 23:33

Italian - gosh tv programmes, well right now The Biggest Loser is where I feel I should be! Would love to have the learning experiences of Masterchef (the old style, this new series looks a bit too threatening I fear as yet for my limited repertoire!) - good topic to distract onto, as still waiting for AF here, grrrr...

shirleycat1 · 22/02/2011 09:08

Hey Keziah, I am also waiting for af. When's your due? I generally don't have them naturally, so if none arrived by next Tuesday I'm taking Provera to induce one.

Are you SME lot enjoying yourselves?

shirleycat1 · 22/02/2011 09:09

Idreaminchocolate · 22/02/2011 19:04

Shirleycat - hope to be tonight Wink DH doesn't know that yet though.......

Have decided that we're gonna shag our way out of this thing. Again, this may come as a shock to DH....

delilahbelle · 23/02/2011 10:23

Hey all, hope you don't mind me joining you.
After 2 chem pregnancys, a lap and the removal of a Fallopian tube last year, I am currently going through round of ivf. Just had my day8 scan, the nurse could only see 3, maybe 4 follicles. So of course I am panicking that I am not responding properly.

I have another scan in two days, will be relaxing and keeping everything crossed for some healthy follicle growth.
