I'm desperate for a third baby (yes I know I should be grateful to have 2) but am currently having major hot flushes day and night and have only had 4 periods since birth of DD2 in April 2009.
Does anyone know what I can/should do to sort out my hormone imbalance or just get those lat few eggs out - if there are any still there?!

Please someone help me with my query. I'd love to know of anybody who has been successful, or do I just have to face it and accept my reproduction days are over?

Didn't want your post to go unanswered so bumping for you. (I'm not perimenopausal although am old Grin and have tried and failed to have no. 2 so perhaps have an inkling of how you are feeling.) Hang in there! You never know! Sending positive thoughts ...

You might find someone on this thread can help. Good luck.

I tested as peri-menopause in Jan this year and was pregnant by May!
Unfortunately had mc in july so now am desperate to conceive again but 9 weeks later still no period and having the worst hot flushes day and night
saw my GP today who said that he has never heard of anyone who went through the menopause as a result of a mc even when peri before pregnancy, phew, does that make sense? :)
I'm 47 and told myself I would only try until I reached 48 so am desperate to get on with it. I was so happy to be pregnant again, my youngest is about to be 18!
I feel the same about being grateful for the children I have (3) but my partner, not the kids dad, would love to have a child and I only ever wanted to have babies. I can't bear to think my body could be barren it's like a knife in an old wound. :(
I wish you all the luck in the world

mrs cactus and birthdoula: how do you test as "peri-menopausal"? how old are you if you dont mind my asking, mrs cactus? just came across your post and genuinely very very curious ( i know what it did to the cat;but i want to be well-informed!). please DO reply and put me out of my misery! why do men not get menopausal, its just so unfair!

hi fedupttcnosuccess, I went to my GP surgery and just enquired about the possibility of ttc at my age, 47 and fast approaching 48 OMG! she was really unkind and told me i shouldn't even be thinking about it at my age, b*%@h! but as I needed to have a blood test for something else she ticked the FSH box, simple as that. Luckily she wasn't my regular GP, who is, for the record fantastic and very supportive of me and also very genuinely sad when I miscarried.
If you have a nice GP just ask if you can have you FSH tested, if not tell the GP you are having irregular periods or something and you might get lucky.
I would be interested to know how you get on, good luck

thank you very much. i may just do that. we have been together 7 years, married 5 and desperate for a baby for the last 2. prognosis:"unexplained infertility", after all the tests for dh and me. grossly unhelpful,to say the least.
just out of interest, i have regular periods, and i've been told i'm definitely ovulating every month, is there then a chance that my FSH levels may not indicate much. or is it evident that FSH is dodgy if periods and ovulation are all over the place? sorry for such invasive questions, truly frazzled.
many thanks. (i'm 40 and dh is 43)

I think the blossom just burst open on the trees outside, all the birds are singing and the sky is blue!
I spent all day wanting to howl in anguish and now I have a smile on my face. Thank you all you wonderful ladies. :) x
