Irregular periods after m/c. How long will this last?!

Hello,
I have had a bit of a sad pregnancy history this year. I had a termination at 19 weeks in february as my baby had a lethal condition and would not have survived birth. I got pregnant again in April but miscarried at 8 weeks at the end of June. My first period after the miscarriage came after 6 weeks. I am now 29 days into the next cycle with no sign of my period. I'm very keen to try to get pregnant again and used to have a regular 27 day cycle so these long cycles are driving me a bit mad and also mean I have less of an idea about the best time ttc.
Does anyone have any words of encouragement or advice?
Thanks!

Hi Jamface,

I'm so sorry for your losses. I miscarried this year too and am also ttc again. I have found masses of support here on MN especially from the women on this thread

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/1029309-Just-MC-and-ready-to-try-again-Pack-your-cake

come and join us if you feel like it.Smile

I also found this site really useful in terms of getting information about physical recovery (and lots more)

pregnancyloss.info/

You will see from there that it is quite common to see changes to your cycle after a mc.

I have just discovered the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility and the site fertilityfriend.com, both have excellent advice about using your waking temperature and checking your cervical fluid and position to see which days you are fertile (apologies if you know all about this already, its quite new to me) all of these can help you even if your cycles aren't the same number of days each month.

good luck to you xxxxxxxxxxxx

Is there any chance you are pregnant again?

If not I suspect it'll take a few months (probably three) for your hormones to sort themselves out.

Thanks MummyAbroad, I'll take a look at the thread and sites you've suggested. I kept an eye on my cervical fluid this month and it definitely did not follow its normal pattern which did throw me. I have bought myself a pack of surprisingly inexpensive ovulation sticks from Amazon and will use those next month to see when I'm ovulating, as well as keeping an eye on the other pointers too.
Whomovedmychocolate, I'm taking preg tests every 4-5 days but having been pregnant twice in such a short period I'm pretty attuned to my early symptoms (normally constipation and stuffy nose a few days before period due) so am almost positive I'm not preg. I guess that after what my body has been through a few months of upheaval is to be expected.
Thanks both x
