Hi, stac14 i have just finished my 4th round of clomid and hoping that this is the month, got anoth 2 more months and then might consider all odds and see what is in store for us in the New Year, maybe my GP may prescribe metformin with clomid........

Great news popsy, congratulations, your story is really inspiring as i am the one who has a 12yr old DD so just maYBE this might work, keep us posted about your health and god Bless your little boy...

boba82 · 11/11/2010 10:39

Hello coconuts, I've seen you on the PCOS thread

I echo everything the others said. My GP referred me to FC/Endrocrine unit as I wasn't ovulating and like you had v. irregular periods. It was there they diagnosed the PCOS and then prescribed Clomid. My GP didn't want to prescribe Clomid either due to the risks of multiple pregnancy etc. Good luck for your appointment though & let us know how you get on.

Thanks Stac

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 11/11/2010 12:38

Thank you all for your advice. I will be calling the GP to make an appointment next week so hopefully I can find out the next step. It's really hard, I've heard so many positives and negatives of all the treatments available so I'm quite worried that if I get offered any treatment how I will react to it.

I have researched my local hospital and found the name of the gynae consultant I was under 4/5 years ago for mc trouble and he specialises in infertility so Ill ask to be referred back to him.

Is there any way of finding out what the local guidelines are on clomid? Does the local PCT have a website with info on?

confu3ed · 11/11/2010 21:12

Hi stac I am good thanks feeling positive at the mo, just got to do the rabbit thing fir the next week and keep everything crossed that this month will be the one 5th round of clomid lucky!!!

Does anyone know what the doc will do next if clomid hasn't worked after 6 months? Is metformin an option for anyone with pcos? I don't have a high bmi and doesn't it make you loose weight?

Lovely bunch I didn't go to my local hospital for treatment as the wait was 6 months. When I got referred the doc gave me a list of all the possible clinics and it was just a case of phoning round and booking an appointment at the one with the shortest wait. Took about 2 1/2 months I think.

Waves to everyone else! ;)

Ladybird10 · 12/11/2010 12:45

Hey Ladies

Stac yeah it does feel like the weeks are flying by, which is good, we have decided to find out what we are having, i would much prefer to know. hope you and Rileigh are good.

Brokenbits 2 years feels like forever, it did for me, but it will happen, it?s hard when people keep saying that, but i truely believe all the ladies on here will get their gorgeous babies.

Pops It?s good to hear from you, your story always makes me think how strong you must be for all you have been through , you so deserve this baby. I?m definitely up for meeting with our babies :) We will find out a week on Monday what we are having.

I had quite a scary weekend and still dont feel in the clear but trying to stay positive, i went to the emergency pregnancy ward on Friday as i was getting a kind of shooting pain in my lady bits and it didn't feel right, they did some tests on me and listened to the baby's heartbeat but when they checked my cervix it was slightly open, they said i could be having a threatened miscarriage or i could be fine but the consultant wanted to keep me in over night. On Saturday the cons said he wanted me to stay in another 2 nights and then they wanted to scan me on Monday to check the length of my cervix, well Monday came, i had my scan and the top of the cervix where the baby lies is closed but the bottom part is open slightly but my cervix measures 3.2 cm which the cons was really happy with and let me come home. Apparently if the cervix is less than 2.5cm then they worry, i have to go back in a couple of weeks to check everything is still ok, but i'm oviously quite worried that something may go wrong. So each week that passes i will be grateful.
Sorry for the long post.

reallygrumpy · 12/11/2010 18:06

Hey all,

ladybird that sounds v scary, poor you, take it easy.

broken how are you doing?

confused how long will your cons let you have clomid for? There seem to be so many differences in treatment, my cons will only prescribe 6 cycles (I've got 2 to go) and then he said the options would be ovarian drilling or injectables to stimulate ovulation.

Well I'm feeling very odd! I'm cd21 and I'm only taking metformin this month, I start clomid again next month. I've been using opks but haven't had a positive but I'm feeling tired and slightly queasy, not sure if it's anything to get excited about but it's making mr wonder.

Take care all

popsy1 · 12/11/2010 18:18

Oh lady that sounds very scary. I hope you are taking tings very easy.It makes things seem worse when you have no control over things as well. Just take very good care of yourself hun. Keep us posted and remember I'm always here for a chat :)Sendings lots of hugs {{{}}}}}

Sorry broken i didnt temp as i was told it didn't work with PCOS, plus i was always so stressed out i thought it would just make me worse Hmm

Confused i have a DS but my PCT allowed clomid on NHS but any other treatment had to be paid for.

Stac LO is within the 'normal' range for the weeks but its because i have had glucose in my urine a few times and PCOS, so i am finger pricking 4 times a day to monitor! Got GD test on 24th. Thanks for your advice hun. Hope you are well and Rileigh is keeping you busy :)

Thanks Nonu really kind of you. I stay around just because i've been through so much with alot of the ladies on here and found the support network invaluable, a million times better than any leaflet i was given.
Hi to everyone else
XX

stac14 · 12/11/2010 21:46

hi all, confu3ed i was given clomid on nhs and next step would have been ivf that i would have to have paid for. I asked my cons for metformin as it helps you ovulate and is a good drug for pcos (anyone can get it) i took that and was offered 6 more months of clomid. Luckily i didnt need the clomid.

{{hugs}} lady i echo what popsy says, are you off work? Are you getting another scan on monday? Have a lazy weekend, lots of tlc, choccy and trash tv

popsy hows your readings? I'm unsure if it differs per person but i was to keep my levels between 4 and 6. They try to sort it with diet, then tablets then insulin. As they found my later on it was straight to insulin, pain in the bum but needed. Let us know how you go. Rileigh is getting gabby and she is very nosey, jack is great with her.

Hey to everyone, where you all at? (wow how american sounding lol) x

nonu · 13/11/2010 08:44

Hey stac14 what was the dosage of metformin that you were given, i would love to ask my gp and just needed to be able to know a little in advance

boba82 · 13/11/2010 11:15

lady echo everything everyone else has said. Take it easy, I'm sure everything will be fine.

reallygrumpy sounds promising. When are you goint to POAS?

I'm feeling the same way actually but have had this before with no BFP at the end of it. On CD23 ATM but am no way POAS before CD28 as I can't take to many more BFNs Sad Don't want to get my hopes up either as only 1st round of Clomid.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend despite the horrendeous weather!

popsy1 · 13/11/2010 14:33

Stac ive got to keep mine below 6 first thing in the morning and then below 8 an hour after school. They just gave me a booklet with the levels in so i just presumed it was standard Hmm

Nonu i had 500mg of metformin 3 times a day. Im not sue if thats why i got my BFP but i was very close to giving up i wanted one last shot. My cons wasnt too keen on giving it me, but then asked someones advice and they were pro metformin. So she relented. It definately worth an ask hun :)

How you doing Lady? xxx
xxx

reallygrumpy · 13/11/2010 15:13

nonu I'm on 500mg of metformin 3 times a day. I've been on it a couple of times before and the first time I took it I got pg with DD after 5 months. It didn't work last time which is why I took clomid, I'm now taking it again and will combine it with clomid next cycle. The side effects are a bit grim as your body gets used to it and you have to build up slowly but I find it much easier to lose weight when I'm taking it. Good luck chatting to your doc about it.

Well I'm still feeling rotten (cd22) but I'm going to wait until at least cd35 before I POAS cos I've got my hopes up before and then it's been a BFN.

Hope you're ok lady

stac14 · 14/11/2010 12:31

nonu i had 500mg met 3 times per day then it was upped to 850mg 3 times per day cant remember why. I got bfp after 2months.

popsy maybe it is standard then. Hows your levels been? Mine was gone after dd was born x

popsy1 · 14/11/2010 20:53

Stac all my rrsults have been under except one. Back at hospital tomorrow for check up. Hope you are ok

stac14 · 14/11/2010 21:58

womanlytales · 15/11/2010 09:14

hi - did any of you have Clomid with an ovitrelle injection? I had the injection 2 weeks ago on CD 9... and then the progesterone test on CD 16 and CD 19 -- both were low - 5 and 6... and today CD 23 I have got spotting... it seems like everything is happening far too early in my cycle.....Feel like it's AF but on CD 23?? Grabbed the pregnancy test..and then didn't ... not sure if I should... or not?? What do you think?

boba82 · 15/11/2010 11:27

womanly POAS!!!! but I am a recovering POASaholic Blush

confu3ed · 15/11/2010 22:24

Hello girlies!

I have no idea how long I am allowed to take Clomid for, I am going back to see my consultant in January and will have run out by then, Went to my GP and asked for an extra month and he gave me 3 months, so I guess I can take it for 9 months in total. But if it hasn't worked by then I must need to take something else.

Is that it then, this and then IVF? That is scary as it costs a fortune and cannot imagine this will be on the NHS especially as I will be 35 next year.

Lady - How are you doing?

Stac - WIll ask for metformin if I don't get a BFP before Christmas.

Having a good day today had a positive OV test yesterday and today which is a good sign methinks! Been SWI as much as possible and keeping my fingers crossed!

Really - Any news on your symptoms? Do you still feel sick?

twolittlemonkeys · 16/11/2010 05:04

Hello, I'm new to this thread. I have 2 DCs (1 Clomid baby and 1 happy surprise)

Am on 2nd cycle of Clomid now, CD 22 after my first cycle resulted in a MC back in May :( I am feeling pretty rough right now and trying not to get my hopes up - probably just coming down with something. Really hoping to get a BFP before Christmas as I would have been due Christmas eve. Am a complete POAS-aholic (buy my pg tests in bulk off Ebay Grin) Must. Not. Test. Early....

Ladybird10 · 16/11/2010 22:04

Thanks ladies, i'm ok, just trying to take it easy.

pops it's horrible to feel like i'm not in control. Just wish i knew what was happening down there. I am feeling alot better but still worried, i have my 20 week scan on monday so hopefully they will check my cervix to make sure it hasn't shortened. Fingers crossed everything will be ok. How are you feeling, have you got a big bump? Mines quite big.

stac i had last week off work but i went in this week. Just taking it easy though. If it gets worse then the doctor will put me on complete bed rest.

jo not long to go now.

confus3d will you not try iui before ivf? That worked for us.

Good luck to the ladies testing in the next few days.

Xxx

BullyforVic · 17/11/2010 19:42

Hi,

Well went to hospital last week and she has given me another month of clomid but 100mg to try this time. After this she has suggested IUI. Apparently at our hospital we can get three goes at IUI or one go of IVF for free??!! She also suggested acupuncture so going for my first session on Monday. Has anyone else been offered IUI?

x

Brokenbits · 17/11/2010 20:47

Hello all,

Sorry for the absence. Been struggling the last few days with a horrible D&V bug. Will be back when I'm feeling a bit brighter.

Had confirmation today that my progesterone levels were fine this month (1st time in 1 and a half years, so quite an achievement) and it looks like I ovulated. So, potentially good news. However, I've started spotting again. It's not very significant, but it's enough to make me think I'm out this month and question whether or not the 7dpo test is late enough if my progesterone levels decide to drop later.

Anyway, hope you're all as well as you can be. Sorry for lack of personal messages, but my bed is calling. Grin

Luce2006 · 18/11/2010 16:49
