nonu you poor luv sorry af got you. I have an 11 year age gap and dp's son is 12. I know it seems easy for me to say but with dd i got to the stage were i thought there was no way i would have another so kind of just stopped trying. When i relaxed or should that be accepted that i was done ttc i got bfp using only metformin. I wish you every success hun

Hiya lady wow 18wks already how have you been? Are you going to find out what your having? Have you heard from popsy? How are you jo?

** at everyone hope your well x

Brokenbits · 04/11/2010 10:50

So sorry nonu. I've been there and it's just awful. Sending you a massive hug for the next few days until you can see your way out of the darkness to trying again. At least, as you say, it's something of a relief when the waiting and wondering can end.

confu3ed I can't believe they have lost your sodding test. I would seriously ring up and give them hell. This should not go by without a complaint. It's bad enough that your monitoring is as bad as it is. If they can't even manage to sort out one test without losing it, I'd consider a serious complaint - a letter might be better. They have to keep them on file. Where are you in the country? Have you thought about contacting PALS about your concerns? This is your body and your life and every setback is just another waste of your time and, potentially, another month of wasted treatment.

Lady Congratulations and thanks for being a reminder that it can happen. I've been TTC for 2 years and feel as if I've reached the end of my tether sometimes.

So, day 16 and my dominant follicle measured 16(and a bit)mm yesterday. Endometrium looks thick enough and I'm POAS with a vengeance. Has anyone had really long cycles on clomid and still managed to conceive? I'm worried that I still have a luteal phase defect and that the later I ovulate the less chance I'll have. Sad

boba82 · 04/11/2010 13:59

Confu3ed I totally agree with broken about complaining. Also seems your monitoring is pretty non existent. I'm not getting scanned like a lot of ladies here but the FC are doing weekly urine tests to monitor hormones etc. Keep your chin up and hopefully they find them soon.

nonu sorry to hear AF got you. Been in that situation a few times and it is heartbreaking but at least as you say you know what's going on now. x

confu3ed · 04/11/2010 14:21

Sorry Nonu, TTC is an emotional rollercoaster. DD is almost 11 and I am with you on the huge age gap. I have a new DP as well who has no children and this is affecting him too probably more than me.

Broken I managed to track down the result myself by calling teh pathology lab, why they couldnt do it I dont know! Good news is that my result was 47.5 which is the highest its ever been and they said that is a great result! Feeling a bit more positive now, at least I know the higher dose is working. Just got to actually get pg now! Bought the OV tests and hope that they work.
I am still going to see if I can go to a different hospital as I need more reassurance than one test every three months. I am in the South East, dunno if that is why the treatment is so lax? Where are you?

Cant help you on the long cycles, mine have remained the same every 27 days regular as clockwork.

Lady Thank you for your kind words and reminding me that iften there is a happy ending, just have to keep positive that it will be my turn soon.

jobobpip08 · 04/11/2010 19:55

High wooohooo congratulations! Fantastic news. Definitely think positive!

And ((())) to nonu I know it is another kick in the teeth. There is many a month I?ve cried my heart out when pregnancy just seemed to get further and further away.

Welcome to missflick and boba glad you have found us, it is a lovely thread, I?m another one who found it so nice I decided to stay after my BFP. (ttc 2 years)

confu3ed I agree with broken it is so hard to hear other people have got pregnant, I have been through a few friends having babies which was definitely a happy for them/sad for me kind of feeling. Did you manage to get some more clomid btw?

broken what is it about SIL?s?? Someone somewhere must have a nice one? Glad to hear they found your Day 21 results ? and what great results! I was told anything over 30, so 47.5 is fantastic.

Where I am they do factor in our age when it comes to multiples ? I usually had 2/3 good follicles but because I am 39 they didn?t worry about multiples.

Hey lady times ticking away for you too!

Waves hello to stac pops fairy clure too (how are you?) and hopes I haven?t missed anyone else. 2 ½ weeks to go for me, I am seeing the consultant next week and will demand ask for my date for induction!

sparkler babydust xxxx

boba why do they check your urine? Just curious as i never got this

broken i was late ov when got bfp, all i can say is go for it hun

nonu are you ok?

popsy how was your 20wk scan?

Hows it going fairy is school driving you mad already?

Hey to all, nappy brain in action here. Dd got 3rd lot of jabs today broke my heart to see her in pain but it has to be done. So shes been a bit grumpy and happily wrapping daddy around her finger lol x

BullyforVic · 05/11/2010 17:55

Hi,

Just wondering if I can join your thread have been on another and was reading yours and nonu similar thing is happening to me.

I have taken 3 lots of clmomid so far and have just had to have two months off as had colposcopy. Had normal period after colposcopy 29 days (always around 30, most ever been 32). Had the naughtys when was allowed this month a little later than middle of cycle. Now day 39 no period. Tested on day 37...negative....have no idea where it is!! Have you sought medical advice yet? Not sure when to call the fertility nurse...

nonu · 06/11/2010 12:06

HEy, bully i can understand what u r going through i had a rough 13 days but got AF on cd-43, i think u should wait a little more from my experience and then test again, maybe after another week and see and then consult your GP, hope its a BFP for you, and just updating- cd-3 1st day of clomid 100, 4th cycle, hope this is the one ,......

boba82 · 06/11/2010 17:42

Hi stace they're using my urine to check where I am in cycle, to see if I release an egg and if the dosage is working/correct. I do one same time every week, freeze then hand in once I have 4 weeks worth. Seemingly how they're going to monitor me until New Year. Am I the only one getting checked this way? Confused

Before I got diagnosed with PCOS the FC was going to use this method but over 10 weeks to track where I was cycle wise as I hadn't had a period for months & was on CD 116ish! Apparently quite a good way of mapping your hormones/cycle.

Thanks for the welcome jo, all the best for your labour when it comes! x

highheelsandequations · 06/11/2010 20:47

nonu so sorry for arrival of AF, hope you're okay.

confu3ed great news about the high result, hope you kicked up a fuss about the shoddy treatment and having to chase the results yourself.

jo thanks for the congratulations, I am taking each day as it comes and trying to relax and enjoy it, have been listening to zita west relaxation CD every night and think that's helping with the happy thoughts! 2 1/2 weeks to go, it's so exciting!

stac glad Rilegh's aready learning how to get what she wants from men :o

boba I've never heard of urine samples as tracking but it sounds like a good way to see what your hormones are doing.

broken I'm sure clomid is supposed to help with luteal phase defects. If it's any help, I'm fairly sure that I ovulated around CD16-18 on clomid and cycles whilst on it were around 29 days, consultant seemed happy with that. Did conceive after extremely late ovulation on the cycle after my 3 rounds of clomid. As long as your luteal phase is more than 10 days I think that's okay.

Welcome bully, I've found the ladies here very helpful and supportive and hope you find the same.

Exciting news here, I have a (very) early scan on Wednesday morning. As we are really not sure of dates the FC are happy for me to come in this week, and if it's too early they'll give me another scan a week or 2 later. Think I'm only about 5 weeks just now so we won't see much but hopefully it will at least set my mind at ease that there's something there and it's in the right place. Maybe then I'll be able to stop POAS every morning :o

Happy weekends to everyone :)

Hi Jobob, yes 100mgs clomid now and with my 21 results at 47.5 it appears to be working at last! Wow 2 weeks, how exciting!!! When you say that your consultant didn't worry about multiples because of your age, was that because it is less likely to conceive twins or because it didn't matter if you had more than one?

Stac brilliant, not sure I would have owned up to that either! My result has given me new hope that this may work, fingers crossed!

Good luck with the scans higheels and supersunny Smile

jobobpip08 · 08/11/2010 14:53

stac don't know what I'm doing - the placenta praevia and breech completely changed by the 34 week scan, placenta clear and head down. BUT now baby is transverse so a little bit of everything going on! I am seeing the consultant this week and will ask for him to book me in for induction on 22nd (38 weeks), or if baby is uncooperative then a section - I just need some peace of mind that this one will get here safely.

confu3ed the age bit related to the quality of my eggs - so less likely to conceive twins than someone younger.

boba lol at the frozen wee - seems like a good plan tho!

babydust to you all xxx

Brokenbits · 09/11/2010 10:33

Sorry for my absence. Had to deal with a couple of deaths this week. Been a bit of a horrible few days, what with yet another pregnancy announcement. Someone up there obviously doesn't like me!

confu3ed So pleased your tests hadn't gone missing and that is a brilliant result. I'd still be inclined to complain though. It might prevent them being so crap in the future. I'm in the north. I'm not entirely sure what constitutes decent treatment and/ or the lack of it, but it does seem to vary wildly dependent on your hospital/ clinic. I've now had 5 scans! They've told me to go for two lots of blood tests - one on Friday and then again on Monday to guarantee an accurate progesterone result. If the tests come back with proof that I've ovulated, they will leave me alone for another couple of months to try on my own and then reassess in January. They only go a bit bonkers with the scans on the first month to check that hyperstimulation is not an issue and that it's definitely working. They kept scanning me right up until the point the follicle disappeared to ensure it didn't just grow bigger and bigger. If my progesterone levels indicate that I haven't ovulated, they are going to double the dose of clomid and then presumably keep scanning me next month to ensure that is working. I'm kind of hoping it doesn't come to that, but I doubt it will work on the first go.

Ooh jo how exciting. Not long to go. I bet you're on a complete rollercoaster of emotions right now!

stac14 It looks as though I ovulated on day 20. I got a positive OPK the day before and my scan did show a definite absence of follicles, so it looks as though I'm still ovulating late, but not as late as I used to. I have another question now! I don't seem to have had a temp spike. Can clomid affect your BBT this far into the cycle? Should I completely ignore temps? I'm just worried that I won't be able to interpret fertile signs when I'm left to my own devices with no scans, as I seem to be getting EWCM at a funny time now too. There's less before ovulation and more after, which seems a bit odd.

Welcome Bully. Only on my first round of clomid, so can't really comment, but it sounds as though you're in safe hands with these ladies.

boba That sounds like such a strange method. I've heard of the blood tests but never urine. I imagine it makes their lives much quicker in the clinic if they don't have to do loads of scanning though! It could also be simply because you have such lengthy cycles, it's an easier starting point for them to work out where you might be at each stage.

Waves to sunny. Good luck with the scan, though I'm sure I'll see you on the other thread for hand holding before then.

Brokenbits · 09/11/2010 19:56

Sorry. Me again.

I'm spotting. Bugger. At first I got all excited because I thought it might be an ovulation bleed. It was just pinkish at first, but I've just had a bright red bleed, which seemed to stop as soon as it started. Does anyone know what this could mean?

Can you get this when you ovulate, or should I be worried that it's something more sinister? I'm freaking out because I've never had anything like this mid-cycle and am directly linking it to the clomid since it's my first round!

nonu · 10/11/2010 08:48

boba82 · 10/11/2010 14:34

broken sorry to hear that you've been having a tough time. I can't be of any help as this is only my 1st round of Clomid, maybe phone nurse at clinic?

Stace sorry if I came across wrong? Just read back my post & realised it sounded a bit bitchy, I was actually meant to sound panicky as I was worried I was on some weird monitoring system when everyone else is being scanned! Blush

popsy1 · 10/11/2010 16:44

HI ladies i hope you are all well, sorry for not posting in a while.

So sorry for all you ladies having a tough time at the mo. TTC is a hideous and often lonely time. This thread was a blessing for me to come and have a rant, witter, moan with ladies that knew exactly how i felt. It always made me feel less of a monster knowing that my feelings were not irrational (as i was once told by a very close friend) and when people announced their pregnancies my feelings were normal! Wink
It always amazes me how different the treatment and monitoring varies from area to area! I had scans and blood test until they knew i had ovulated then nothing. In total i had 18 months of clomid, 5 of those with metformin. First time for 9 months and then 6 months 1 with metformin got pg unfortunately it wasnt to last:( 3 more months of met and clomid and I'm now 22 weeks pg:)Its been a hell of a long and painful journey and i was just about to give up! Thankful now i didnt :)
I cant remember who said about age differences but i have DS who is 14!!! Its been a real worry for me, But i wouldn't have wished what ive been through on my worst nightmare, in an ideal world we would have conceived 4 years after my DS was born and i wouldnt have suffered 2 losses along the way. However i did and have survived and its made my family very strong for it. I will never forget my 2 little boys and carry them with me everyday. It has made me more thankful for the little growing inside me.

God sounds like therapy Wink Wink sorry

Jo i cant believe you only have weeks to wait:)i bet you cant wait to hold your LO. I understand how anxious you will be feeling, but i will be thinking and saying a little prayer for you hun:)

Stac our 20 week scan went well. Our little boy is doing well and growing beautifully :) He is kicking away merrily. Did you have G diabetes with Rileigh? I seem to remember you did. What happens if you do? I am being tested for it in 2 weeks and just wondered??? Hmm

Glad all is well with you lady, still think we should meet in the summer with our babies :) Are you going to find out what you are having??

Love to everyone else xx

boba82 · 10/11/2010 19:41

It's great to hear your story popsy, gives me hope that there's light @ the end of the tunnel. Congrats on your son, hope you have a great pregnancy, what's left of it.

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 10/11/2010 20:23

Hello ladies,

Hope you don't mind me coming on your thread :) Hope you are all well.

Have just been diagnosed with PCOS and done lots of research and discovered I may be offered Clomid to help TTC.

Just looking for some info on how it works, how you get it, what it's like etc etc?

I have a DD 2.7 and have been TTC for 10months, haven't had AF since June, sent for bloods and scan, scan showed PCOS waiting for follow up appointment with GP next week.

Will I be allowed any fertility treatment if I already have a child?

Can my GP prescribe it or will i need to be watched by a fertiltiy consultant?

TIA x

confu3ed · 10/11/2010 22:57

Broken sorry can't help you with mid cycle spotting but found that I had spotting 5 days before af on my first month of clomid.

Popsy your story is great for giving us all hope, and you are so right talking to others helps loads!

Alovelybunch I have pcos and had issues ttc went to my gp who did a day 21 blood test. Levels were low so I got referred to a specialist infertility clinic where I was given clomid at my first appointment. 50mgs to start but my tests showed I didn't ovulate every month so now on 100mgs which is making me ovulate, just need to get pg now!

I already have a dd and was given this treatment on the Nhs, but I think from other posts on this thread that this is not always the case it depends on your primary care health trust.

My gp would not prescribe clomid without referring me to a specialist.

Good luck :)

stac14 · 11/11/2010 00:47

boba you didnt sound bitchy at all hun, just hadnt heard of it i'm sure your cons know what their doing

broken i didnt spot on clomid but it is common. I didnt check my temp but found i had hot flushes with clomid. Think jo or pops may have though. We just bd every other day from when i thought i may be oving.

nonu hope your going to stick around. I know this has been a rough month for you hun but we've all been there. Whats your next step?

Welcome alovely i have pcos and took 2yrs to conceive dd, i stick around as i found a great support network here as i'm sure you will. My gp started me on clomid 50mg with bloods being took on cycle day 21, 28 & 35. I went to see cons who ordered more tests for me and dp. As confu3ed says its all down to postcode

confu3ed hows you?

Hey pops fantastic news i am so happy for you. Is lo measuring bigger than average? Thats why they sent me for a glucose tolerance test, you fast from midnight get bloods drink lucozade or sugary water then 2hrs later get blood took again. Mine was high for pregnancy and as i was 33wks and rileigh was measuring 38wks i was put straight on insulin and had an elective c-s at 38wks. Even at 2 wks early she was 9lb 12oz. Its more tiring for you, for baby it just meant they would be bigger, if you want to know anything give me a shout. I have to say i had great treatment and support x
