ola!

Ben's napping so we'll see how far I get!

Iggy - expressing/bottles/arrrgh! Its all so individual and down to baby keeness and Mummy can or canny be botherdness. I fell into latter as Ben took a bottle of EBM from week 3 but I couldn't be bothere with faff of expressing to get 2oz when he could be on me (like your explanation LBM)as he always had to be passed to me anyway. Stopped doing it then cue two months later when he REFUSED to take any sort of bottle..

Neeko's H has refused any sort of bottle from week 3 but other babies are happy to go between them..

It's down to how easy you can express and how willing your DD is to take the teat. I would recommend Tommee Tippee as they are the softest teats and the nicest bottles to hold. Good luck!

Neeko - your DD1 ishilareous but in a stern naughty girl way Grin. Loving image of H banding her legs. She has lovely chunky legs so those srawberries never stood a chance! So delighted you got 8.5 hours sleep too - way to go H. On breast milk alone too!! Unless you've bene sneakily feeding her tattie scones? Grin.

Vjay - not gained any weight is a good result! Soooo, what are your plans for Ajay's birthday? Oh and sorry you have larithingymaboab..

Welcome back BQ!

cupcake - hope your enjoying your holiday en famille Smile

4ever - so remember the Sad and Angry you had to put up with all those pg ladies last year...What a difference a year makes, you have you gorgeous biscuit Smile. It's one of the cruelest things post-mc, the silent sadness we have dealing with pg women and watching their bumps grow Sad. But then I've been on the other side too whilst pg with Ben, playgroup friend who burst into tears last Sept. after hearing my due date as she was due then and had had a MMC at 11 weeks (she is now 36 weeks pg Smile. We don't know all the women who looked at our bumps with sadness as they were due the same time as us...

On a brighter note, I've been inspired by your casts of S's feet and have bought the plaster of paris kit from Mothercare (£45) to do a mould of Ben's feet as they are so pudgy and gorgeous! Wish me luck it may get messy Grin.

eek! Ben has woken, got to go.

p.s. off out gonight, friend holding a children's clothes party - white wine is in the fridge and I will be home for 1am, no I will Grin

MLS I so hear you on the bfding - been there twice. BabyJ is only on the 2nd percentile and has just hit 10lb's but this time the doctors and hv's are just more chilled about it. As I "failed" ( my definition) with dd1, I was so determined to make it work with ds - I was just like you. But "failed" again - however dd2 has made it all right by managing to feed her.

I feel your pain and hear your determination - that was me too as like you I felt that I had to be able to do this as it's the most natural thing in the world. BTW, this time, I went to see everyone including bfding counsellors, as I felt that I should have seen them with DS and they would have the magic key. They really didn't and the advice they gave was rubbish!
With babyJ, I said I would try for 4 weeks and review then. And now here we are at 14 weeks or so...

bakingqueen Lovely to see you back, sorry for your loss. And you are right, we are so blessed. Baby J has been cooing and gooing at me today - it's just lovely and will happen for all the small panters too.

blue enjoy the party - lol at you getting excited about a clothes party but any excuse to get out is good in my eyes!

cupcake enjoy the childcare ( il's!)

Hello to everyone else - got to go, tea to dish out

4everhopeful · 28/08/2010 00:03

Just wanna add to the whole bf chat that i felt so much better reading that both lbm and blue also only got 2oz max when expressing, as i really felt like a 'failure' too..

I was determined id bf, in hospital the mw made me feel crap when S wouldnt latch on the day after she was born, even tho she did at 1hr old, Sad so i did the cup for the first week then went to the bottle, but expressed every day for 4 weeks just so shed get her daily oz or 2 of goodness! In the end, like the others said, the horrible daily ritual and faff of pumping got me down and id much rather of been cuddling her instead!

I figured i tried my best and felt SO relieved when i made the decision to stop! Wierdly about 2 or 3 wks later during a night bottle she turned her head and went for my boob and iv combined ever since! I do think i just didnt produce enough to begin with but now they gush! Its funny how it all turned around, i say just roll with it, we are all different, our babys are all different, i think birth weights may come into it, then again it could be irrelevent! In pregnancy i was very practical, told myself id try, prepared it may not happen so got bottles, steriliser, formula and pump in case, but still felt shit about it that first couple weeks..

A long old waffle to basically say we are all different and i think too much emphasis is put on it. So long as babys fed, happy and gaining weight, our job is done. Grin

Morning all! Just got a tx from our Barbie Grin

'Could you please update thread to say im here safe, dolly is doing great, sleeping so well! I miss you all but am so busy, will try to update monday. Love to all x'

VJay · 28/08/2010 13:36

4ever you summed it up beautifully, 'so long as babys fed, happy and gaining weight' Smile. As I've said before, Cjay was bottle fed and Ajay was breast fed, and both were happy and gaining weight Smile And also like you said, all babies are different, and my 2 prove that, me and Cjay just couldn't get to grips with the boob, whereas me and Ajay managed it very easily ConfusedGrin

Thanks for the barbie update, so glad she is sleeping well Smile

Hello - just a quickie to say I've been lurking but not had time to post. Have been looking after DTs on my own for most of the past 2 days and its impossible to get on the computer with them around!

bq welcome back! Sorry for your loss - feel free to vent on here. Come and join us on the small pant bench and hopefully we all will be graduating very soon.

4ever thanks for barbie update.

blue what time did you get home in the end Grin

vjay well done on the no weight gain. I bet your clothes are feeling looser with all that cycling. Sorry about the labyrinthitis - its not nice is it. Must be a weird bug going around at the moment. I am feeling much better but I had the dizziness/sick feeling on and off for about 3 weeks before I went to the Drs. Hope yours clears up soon.

neeko well done on the weight loss! How old is M? The story about her crushing the strawberries did make me laugh - at least it was with something that comes out.

mls take it easy please!

cupcake glad you went on holiday in the end and I hope you are having a lovely time Smile

Waves to lbm, moon, iggy and monkey (I will try and remember to post about CM stuff when I get a chance but robitussin makes CM more watery)

Right - have got to go and construct a chair we bought for Isaac at Ikea this morning - on the advice of the occupational therapist. It spins around - he will love it Grin

loueytbg · 28/08/2010 21:08

Quick question for those of you who have done acupuncture - how often should you go? I'm going for my first session tomorrow and I'm not sure if it should be weekly or less often than that?

monkeybumsmum · 28/08/2010 23:20

Hi All Smile

Very quickly dashing on for Louey - I would've thought weekly to start with. When I first started with acupuncture she wanted to do it at least every week, which was actually impossible as I was only back in the UK for a few days. When I've had reflexology it's been sessions every week, then reducing it to every few weeks, so perhaps that might happen with long term acu too? I suppose it really depends on what your practitioner thinks is best for you...
Hope that makes sense - am a wee bit tipsy as just polished off a v nice bottle of champagne with dh that one of his customers bought him. Bet I'll read this in the morning and it won't make any sense Grin

Good luck with your first session, and I hope it works for you! Acupuncture literally got me through my pregnancy with ds, it was the only thing that made the slightest difference to the sickness - I am a huge fan!

Will catch up more when the words aren't wobbly... Gosh, I really am a lightweight Grin

loueytbg · 28/08/2010 23:26

Thanks monkey - the champagne sounded lush

Neeko · 29/08/2010 07:48

Hi all. Very tired here as H been up since 3.30. Yawn. Put her into her cot on Fri night. Friday night great, last night less so.

Before I forget again, I had a text from Gracie recently. RL is very busy just now but she hopes to be back on here soon and sends her love to everyone.

To add to the bf discussion, I was prepared to ff both times if it didn't work (fat chance with H!) but was really lucky that I had no supply issues either time and had lots of support in hospital with M and from MN with H Smile. Whilst we're all aware of the benefits of bf, I'd argue that the benefits are lost if mum's too stressed to be a mummy. Being a ff baby myself didn't cause me any problems. I fed M till I went back to work at 5.5months and I'll probably be feeding H forever! Grin She's 5 months today. Solids - we're coming to get you soon.

Louey Hope the accu really helps. I've never had it personally but have heard loads of good things about it. Well done for being on your own with the DTs. That must be exhausting. M will be 4 next month, but she thinks she's much older Smile

Blue How's the hangover? Hope the chips n bru helped.

vjay hope our los weren't in sleep cahoots last night. We're going to my MILs for dinner today and she's never heard of low fat Hmm

Barbie so pleased to hear Dolly's sleeping. I'm assuming your mum's had a word Smile

Iggy Glad to hear things are going well. The medela swing is great, especially if you can get them to drink the expressed milk!

MLS Hope your little pirate had a long lie in her own bed.

BQ welcome back but sorry for your loss. It's about time the small pants bench had some action.

Monkey champagne? MMMM. Hope it was the hangover free stuff.

Moon don't you go disappearing again.

Curly Grin Grin Grin Love to Curlygirl

SabsFabulous · 29/08/2010 16:17

Hi, hope everyone is having a good weekend. Just a quick one from me to say I've been lurking. Fasting is still going on, have another 10 days or so to go. We've settled back into a more manageable routine with Saara, even though her waking and sleeping times are a bit later than usual, but we'll work on that after Ramadan finishes.

I'm so excited about our meet-up

Will be back soon once I can get my brain back in gear

BTW I am sooo embarrased, I posted this on a completely wrong thread - I really do hope they delete it! Blush

SabsFabulous · 29/08/2010 16:51

And I posted it on such a rude thread - not a thread I should be reading when I'm fasting Blush

And they havent deleted it yet Blush

HELP!

BlueMoon1981 · 29/08/2010 20:32

mermaidspurse · 29/08/2010 20:33

ps thanks for the giggle.x

mermaidspurse · 29/08/2010 20:59

VJay · 30/08/2010 20:08

Evening all Smile

sabs I did Grin at you posting on that other thread Grin

It is very quiet on here, you must all be enjoying your bank holiday weekend, which we don't get up here Hmm.

I'm going to make a HUGE chocolate cake tomorrow for Ajay's birthday at the request of Cjay. We aren't planning on doing much on Wednesday, just heading to the pub in the evening for dinner, and the boys can have a play. I wish we could be with all our family and friends to celebrate his 1st birthday. Dh is off for the day, so we can have him all to ourselves Smile. PIL are up in 2 weeks so we may have a second celebration then. Get Ajay having 2 birthdays, just like the Queen Grin

cupcakefairy · 31/08/2010 16:08

I'm back...sleeping baby but for how long??

We have been having a difficult couple of weeks actually. J was sleeping 7pm-6am for ages then all gone wrong 2 weeks ago...think it is combination of 12 week growth spurt and a cold he has had. He's been feeding so much more (ouchy nipples!!) taking 1-2 hours to get down to sleep with lots of screaming (we've tried doing it earlier & earlier incase he's overtired but making no difference) then waking around every 2-3 hours at night and refusing to go back down... all feels just like the early days again and I'm walking round like a zombie.

I ended up crying about it in the caravan one evening when he'd just taken ages to put down & I was so stressed the whole site could hear him crying & that I wasn't getting to enjoy my holiday. Was a bit Blush as that's the first time I've cried about not coping (apart from obviously, the days of nursing my fanjo Wink) and was in front of MIL...but she was v understanding as apparently dh screamed 24/7 as a baby Grin

Anyway, fingers and everything else crossed, J seems to be turning corner now..up 4-hourly night before last and 5-hourly last night, phew. We put him in his big boy cot last night though, in a gro-bag and everything and he has jabs Thurs so will prob continue with disturbed sleep Confused
We're giving the moses basket to friends due in Oct so no time to grieve over it!! Grin

Ooh, sorry for that ramble..just wanted to let all the sleep-deprived mummies know I totally feel their pain now!!

I shouldn't complain though as he is just the loveliest baby during the day. He was a delight while camping. We had no rain, yippee! :) and J smiled and chatted through the few days, loving all the attention from his granny & granddad. Will have to put up some pics of him; he looked so adorable.

Neeko yay to the long sleep! Was it a one off??

Vjay thanks for chilling the wine Grin how's the diet? Hope it's scrapped for the birthday party! I'm gutted I forgot to weigh myself at my parents' on Sunday (we don't own scales!) ...so will have to wait another couple of weeks. I'm aaaaalmost into my 12 jeans though.

Moon YIPPEE for setting a date! I'm so excited! My sister has given me a crafty project for her wedding in April and I am beside myself to get started Grin LOVE weddings.

Louey Eek to awful ovulation pain...and Hmm to having appendix out when it might not have been needed!! Pompoms out for you.
Grin to not being able to watch The Wire once the DTs were older! I watch BB in the mornings with J and dh totally disapproves! I reason that at least it's the repeat so all the rude bits are cut out Wink

Speaking of BB, MLS thanks for the updates :) I'm loving Ultimate BB! Brian is just as funny as I remember.

Barbie glad you arrived safely. Apparently we have this weather in store all week so thanks for packing the sun Grin

4ever So glad biscuit coped well with her jabs. Dreading J's. We also don't think his christening can be the same day as Summer's now :( cos BIL is away travelling & dh wants to wait for him to get back but we don't know when it'll be Hmm

monkey are you back at work now? Really really hoping that colleague's announcement comes at the best possible time (there won't be a good time of course but you know what I mean) Don't be ashamed to have a good cry and let it all out. Praying this is your month.

BQ welcome back!! So sorry about your bereavement :( The girls are right it's DEFINITELY time some of you vacated that small pant bench. Come on BFPs!

Blue are you knee deep in plaster of paris? Grin That sounds so much fun.

Lol, a rather loud bottom burp just came from the direction of the baby; think he has woken himself up Grin

Much love to our MIA Emmsys, thinking of you all.

cupcakefairy · 31/08/2010 16:09

x-post Vjay (that took me ages!)
Awwww how nostalgic to be thinking about this day last year... I remember it well us getting so excited!
You must post a pic of Ajay in his dressing gown and slippers once he has them Grin
