Mmm keen for wine - have you got any more cold Chablis left in that bottle? Well done on getting through your first day back moof, hopefully it wasn't as bad as you were expecting.

Harriet75C · 12/08/2010 21:40

pinkff plenty of Chablis left, and it's been in the fridge!

sarah may have spoken too soon about the snot. DH working late again and just got off the phone to him and now feeling all teary!

moof hope first day back wasn't too bad.

i was only allowed about three days (including the day i took the pills...) because there's no-one else that can do my job, apparently. going back was hard. only about 1 person knew and loads of people asked me how my holiday was. so i know how hard it is when they say that. hope it gets easier for you.

actually, hope it gets easier for everyone and to all of you SWI - GOOD LUCK! Let's hope the BFP fairy hits the rest of us soon.

Harriet75C · 12/08/2010 21:48

ladybee - i think my gp would have referred me for tests, but the guidelines of our pct state that you can't get any treatment if you're less than 36 and that if you have managed to get pregnant you go below everyone who hasn't managed to get pregnant ever. so ironically if I'd not had an mc it'd be a lot easier. my very much wanted and unfortunately lost pregnancy has apparently screwed up my chances of getting anything even when i hit 36! It's be great to take the bundle of paperwork and hit my gp over the head with it, but i think they'd help if they could.

i had a hysteroscopy for an unrelated condition at the start of 2009 and it showed no problems with anything, so maybe that adds to the not needing fertility intervention stats. Either way my PCT is shit. Guidelines say >1 attempt at IVF, but even if I wait until I'm 36, my PCT would only give one go.

This is why I think we need a hormonal bunch of TTCers to go hit the Health Secretary over the head with the guidelines and make them law rather than advice...

:)

Good luck TTC gang. Hope we all get our DCs soon.

LadyBee · 12/08/2010 21:52

D'you know what? that wine sounds really good. I've not actually had a glass at home for ages - a bit scared that I'll dissolve again and I'm sick of waking up with puffy eyelids from crying late at night. But tonight, it sounds like a good idea Smile

moof first day back in the office is tough - well done for getting through it. I have to say, I'm really really enjoying my time off. Had one week in after working at home, sorted some stuff out and had meetings that needed to be done, and am now off for a couple of weeks and I am enjoying myself so much. I like my work, but it's difficult to motivate myself at the moment. I hope the break helps and doesn't just make me never ever want to go back Hmm

arrrggghhhh, I'm having such a wobble about waiting. I know it's the right thing for me really, but I'm pretty sure I'm ovulating (or gearing up to) and it feels so odd to be observing that and not be gearing up to try to take advantage of it. My body is almost screaming at me to go for it but I'm such a mess still both results - getting pregnant or not getting pregnant are unthinkably terrifying...so got to just wait it out. right? Tell me I'm doing the right thing (for me).

PinkFondantFancy · 12/08/2010 21:57

Harriet - that really sucks, both the shabby way the NHS is treating you and only being allowed to have 3 days off. I was very lucky and had 2 weeks off, and when I got back loads of people asked me if I'd had a nice holiday and that I wasn't very brown..... Managed to resist the urge to tell them that I'd spent the last two weeks in my pit of despair bed :-( Still, was at least nice to know they'd noticed I'd been gone! :-)

Am trying to resist the urge to rant at DH - have been trying to convince him to get off the coffee and he proudly told me he'd had none today. Thought I'd had a breakthrough until I found that all he'd drunk in the last 15 hours is 2 cups of tea.... FFS. Apparenty the tap is too far away from his desk to drink water...... Biscuit Anyway, sorry to rant :-(

Harriet75C · 12/08/2010 22:09

pinkff - no apologies allowed on this thread. we're here to rant, sob, guzzle chocolate, swig wine, spill about SWI which we wouldn't talk to anyone about in RL, say how crap our DH/DPs are being and generally spill whatever we want. Right girls?

Also, I think there's probably legislation that says if you pick up heavy objects and chuck them at people who ask questions like that when you've just got back after an mc, you're not responsible for your actions :)

Not many people even notice I'd been gone sniff

Harriet75C · 12/08/2010 22:10

oh, and we're also here to be positive and celebrate all BFPs :)

Cheepz · 12/08/2010 22:23

well done mmof xx

tigger15 · 12/08/2010 22:37

Sarah hypnotherapy was £25 for 3 sessions. I don't know how much it is if 1 on 1.

PFF I suggested to dh that he cut down on caffeine and alcohol after we'd been trying unsuccessfully for 3 months. His response (he thought I was suggesting he does a similar diet to the one I do to maintain good blood sugar ie no bread, no sugar, carbohydrates only allowed for supper in small quantities, restrictions on fruit)

"life won't be worth living"

I still haven't forgiven him for that one since this is what I have to do to ttc.

He did cut down after I told him I would stop if such a minor request was in his view worthy of suicide. I'm not sure if he still is and I don't think it made a bit of difference.

Harriet my friend has been trying for 3 years and is well under 36 and has been referred for infertility. She has been told she'll probably need ivf but the waiting time in our pct is 3 years. She has managed to find a wonderful report from the head of our pct in which he says that they have exceeded all governmental waiting times by far are uneconomic and some one is going to bring legal action against them. So my friend has written them a nice letter outlining that if she doesn't get what she requires within the 18 week waiting period then she will be the person to bring the legal action (with extensive quotes from this report) Grin. Maybe you could do something similar? Check out the NICE guidelines you may be in luck.....

Freezingmyarseoff · 12/08/2010 23:34

Harriet apparently since April 2009 PCTs are obliged (by law) to follow NICE guidelines. So if you have the energy to fight your PCT then you should go for it. (I know this as my consultant (for a completely different medical problem) was telling me all about it). Afraid I don't have the the exact information to hand but basically your PCT is talking shit.

It's part of the NHS constitution which was published in 2009 and updated again in 2010. Here's a linky but need to trawl through it in more detail to find the relevant part although I think it's section 2.

Ladybee so sorry for your wobbles. It will get better. For what its worth I think you are doing the right thing by waiting. I know I've said it before to others, but I'm really glad I waited after my last MC (2nd one). I didn't think it at the time but looking back I say for sure it was right. Big hug for you.

Moof well done for getting through the day.

waves to all including Clare, Cheepz, PFF sorry I can't name everyone I MUST go to bed...

MamaPower · 13/08/2010 00:05

Sarah loving the choccie share , thank you.

Harriet me thinks we are getting rubbish service! I actually work in medicine (non clinical) and have various contacts within two pcts and one sha so I think I'll go on a little mission start of nxt week to see if I can get us some information. Keep you posted.
Night all x

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 13/08/2010 09:01

Magic8ballhastheanswers waves to you all, sending bigs hugs to all those that needs (I am much more podgy now so I am quite comfy & pillow like - serious over indulgence of carbs Hmm Grin) Promise to be back later to catch up with you all in the proper correct and polite fred way x

VivClicquot · 13/08/2010 09:08

Morning lovelies x

Loving the vibe on the thread at the moment. You can never have enough chocolate, cake or wine.

I've been watching the IVF / NHS chat with interest - the letter I received from my hospital last month inviting us in for tests said, "Dear Mrs Viv. You have been referred for possible IVF. Please complete this form..."

IVF? IVF! I only bloody wanted a scan to check that my womb was working! I practically fell off my chair when I read it and then panicked that the hospital knew something I didn't.

Anyway, am playing the game and doing as they wish as I'm assuming that the scans I thought I was being referred for are the first part of any IVF journey, so we'll see what they say.

I also feel 'lucky' in that we're being taken seriously - as you know, I've 'only' lost two babies (not three) and including the two 'successful' cycles, this will be our 11th so I can't even claim to have technically been trying for a year. So I feel grateful that we're at least being taken seriously by our GP etc.

Anyway - enough about me. 2DPO here so let the haddock slapping commence!

Love to all x

tigger15 · 13/08/2010 10:06

Viv - is it the HFEA form you're talking about? I think that's standard for any fertility clinic and they may just have stuck that on the top out of habit.

tigger15 · 13/08/2010 10:07

Forgot to add RTD came this morning. DH left the fridge open again. I accused him of trying to kill me (leaving the fridge opens destabilises all my insulin) and suggested temperately that if he really wanted to do this he should just push me under a train as it would be quicker. Another happy day starts.

kat2504 · 13/08/2010 11:30

Hi would like to join the thread, had mmc end July (ist pregnancy)erpc 2nd August. Currently waiting for cycle to resume really hope it doesn't take too long! Recognise a couple of names from the thread i was on before - hope you are starting to feel better now.

VivClicquot · 13/08/2010 11:33

I'm not sure - it was definitely a specific form for Manchester Central Hospitals but seemed like a very generic health questionnaire etc. After sending it in, I got a letter back saying to call them on day one of my next cycle and they'll bring me in for an internal scan between days 3 and 5 of my cycle.

And hi kat and welcome. Sorry you've found yourself here but we're a good bunch :)

clareanna · 13/08/2010 12:56

moof all fine at scan, also met consultant and she recommended c-section so booked me in for 3rd feb- gulp!

PinkFondantFancy · 13/08/2010 13:50

Arghgh why can't the preggers woman piss off from my yoga class and go to the specifically provided "pregnancy yoga" instead???!?! Don't need to see her radiant glow and massive belly in my face thanks! FFS!! It was the one place that I take an hour out of thinking about how I'm not pregnant! Focused most of my energy today trying to resist the urge not to kick her over from her headstand....not good...

owlshoes · 13/08/2010 15:37

Righto, am going to attempt Friday's list. This will give me the chance to update my name from saffronbun as that was just one of those 'bugger, all the good names are taken' moments when I first joined.

Welcome kat !

God, I'm on day 15. Best get on it, or under it, or him, or whatever. Thanks for the shiny list Owlshoes.

viv that's good news! glad to see something pro-active is being done!

Hairy is it you who does the acupuncture? Do you find it good?

God, I'm scared at being halfway up the list. I have lots of CM, although no EWCM yet. For any of you ladies who do proper charting, does it usually coincide quite well with Ov?

LadyBee · 13/08/2010 16:24

owlshoes - that name just makes me smile. I have images of them being brown lace-ups. Owls seem very sensible in their footwear choices to me.

I am currently sitting on the sofa, looking around at my living and dining room and marvelling at what an enormous tip it all is. Toys absolutely everywhere in the living room, clothes and random bits of furniture in the dining room. Fortunately, I have receive a call telling me that wardrobes and drawers are going to be delivered next week so there's a tiny bit of light at the slatternly-disorganised-household tunnel. So I shall ignore it, enjoy the fact that DS is still asleep (long nap, he's got a cold) and have another cup of coffee and a chocolate-chip muffin.

Am babysitting tonight, so get to run away before his bedtime and leave that up to DH to deal with, will be digging out my knitting and attempting to complete a pair of mittens in the peace of someone else's home.

Sorry not to name-check properly. Tigger sorry about rtd and DH stress...quick squeeze from me.

VivClicquot · 13/08/2010 16:30

YROTB - I have acupuncture and, while I'm clearly not upduffed yet, I do find it relaxes me a lot. Plus I went on Wednesday this week when I was having cracking ov pain, and after the session, the pain stopped. (Maybe this isn't a good thing!)

As for charting, this is only my second month but yes, my temp rose yesterday and again today, which would correspond with both the opks and the ov pain.

ladybee - I need to rush home after work to do some frantic hoovering as we've got some friends coming to stay this weekend, and our planned tidy-up yesterday didn't quite happen! So I feel your pain. :)

owlshoes · 13/08/2010 16:39

:) Am liking the owl-lace ups v.much.

Lots of people on days 14/15 at the mo - surely we will see a hoooge run of BFPs in about 2 weeks' time? That'd be cheering.

I also am intrigued about the acupuncture. Details, please, people! Where do the needles go? Does it hurt? My GP did it on my back once and it was going really well until the doc took them out - at which point I had a massive wobble and ended up lying in the waiting room with my feet propped up on a chair. NOT dignified. Would give it another go though if it was helpful.

Viv if I am not mistaken, the deal is that you get one of those magic letters inviting you for an appointment and then this means you instantly get a BFP before the appt is due. That's how it works, right? :)

VivClicquot · 13/08/2010 16:53

Oh how I hope that's the case!

Re: the acupuncture. I don't find it hurts at all and the needles go in different places depending on where I am in my cycle.

I always get a couple in my wrists (which IMO are the worse ones for smarting a bit!), a couple in my feet, a couple in my leg and then three or four across my tummy. Then, depending on where I am in my cycle, I might get one in between my eyebrows or a couple in my ears or one right on the top of my head. If we have time, I then might have a few put across my lower back which she then manipulates for about five minutes, which is really relaxing.

I think what I've found most interesting is that most months, I'll usually have a session around the end of my AF and then another around about ov time - and all are really relaxing.

However, last month, I had a session at about 7dpo and she used totally different points which were supposed to be quite energising (??!). During that session, it felt like I had a warm fuzzy glow move all around my body. It started in my right leg and just seemed to radiate everywhere in pulses - it was very weird, but did convince me there is something in it as it did feel very 'active'!
