I feel terrified for them. I just hope we can start to make some changes in the next few years.
I don’t talk to them about it but I just do end my time thinking about what I can do to try and help them in the coming years.

It's not China's fault that "The West" are demanding ever increasing quantities of products, often cheap tat, nor that "The West" were happy to export our waste to the Far East for "processing" (i.e. dumping). China, India, and other Eastern Countries are just satisfying our demand for "abdicating" our pollution etc from West to East

It’s good business for them. And increasingly they are selling their tat to emerging markets so eventually Westerners will be handwringing about it while the rest of the world gets on with it.

Cant stand how British people feel guilty about things that have nothing to do with them

Oh come on, Chins has a huge population and wealth has increased hugely, they are estimated to be the largest consumer economy today. They're not just some poverty stricken backwater churning out goods for the over privileged white people.

'China is steadily becoming a crucial market for categories geared toward consumers with higher incomes. By 2030, it may be home to about 400 million households with upper-middle and higher incomes—roughly as many as in Europe and the United States combined. Over the next five years, it is estimated that the number of millionaires in China may double, from around five million today to ten million in 2025. Thanks to their rising incomes, Chinese consumers are punching well above their weight. China generates about 17 percent of global GDP today, but accounts for a larger share of consumption in several categories (Exhibit 2). Three patterns are emerging in terms of China’s share of global consumption.'

Not to mention of course that they have over a 1000 coal powered power stations and are still building two a week, despite the fact their renewable sector is also booming.

China has also banned all but the very highest grade waste imports and are importing well over 90% less than they once did. A lot of the UK's waste goes to Poland and the Netherlands.

Who export it on to the far east! It doesn't stay in Netherlands!

There needs to be a global wake up and reset. We managed it with Covid. The problem is people won’t want their freedoms or pleasure restricted - it’s a hard ask to go backwards in terms of lifestyle.

If only a few brave millionaires would stand up to those money grubbing scientists with their degrees and their research!!

We don’t need any more experts - amiright?
