Welcome to our new shiny thread for February. The lattes and expressos were not quite hitting the mark so we have moved to the pub. Whether you need Diet Coke or stiff drink help yourself we have a tab going and hunky staff are very attentive.

Checking in, and hoping everyone is ok.

@Gilead I know I've seen you recently on another board, but just wanted to say that I hope you are doing ok.

Gilead · 26/03/2022 00:50

Hi, Bad pain week but dd is here for a couple of weeks and her twin will be popping over for a few days so things to look forward to!
Hope everyone is coping and @RainbowZebraWarrior, thanks for checking up on me!

RainbowZebraWarrior · 26/03/2022 11:28

Sorry to hear you've had a bad pain week @Gilead but nice that you have some company to look forward to.

I've just had my Immunology appt through in the post - at the RVI Smile it's in 11 days time! I'm quite impressed (I mean, this is the 2nd attempt at referral, but got there in the end. It's for 9am though and I physically can't get there for that time, so I'll call them on Monday and hopefully sort a slightly later slot.

Gilead · 26/03/2022 12:14

RVI are good, my rheumatologist is based there, although I see her at Hexham.

Akire · 26/03/2022 12:47

I’ve had rough few days but bowel pain is at bay at the money. Supposed to see consultant Gyne in 2 weeks time but no apt yet. Need rule out of he thinks bowel pain is related to condition or try get referred onto someone else.

So feel like got hang over pain day but least not in the awful uncomfortable can’t do anything. Tried tidy flat but constant battle. Never seem have enough good hours to do much on the actual decluttering.

Nice hear from you Gilead glad kids are visiting. I’ve went mum parcel for Mother’s Day so job done.

Back in hospital! Stoma blockage.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 27/03/2022 11:36

Oh, no @Gilead sending hugs. Hope they can sort you asap.

Akire · 27/03/2022 16:23

Yes good luck hoe it’s easy to sort for you and back home in no time.

Oh @Gilead I hope it's an easy fix for you

Akire · 28/03/2022 14:28

So finally put on big girls pants and filled in yet another e-consult form. You have pick an area but under kidney bladder and urine problems only gives you option of having blood in urine or stingy when you pee. So spend half million boxes telling them no, I don’t have urine problems or burning or urgency just kidneys are still hurting.

Waiting then tell me good news blood tests are fine and bracing self for the “are you feeling depressed” questions. Well yes I am rather now after 7 weeks of kidney pain. Was taking 60mg Codeine at weekend which isn’t alot for some of you but is for me and still feeing the squeezing pain. Plus codeine isn’t helping stupid random bowel pain. We can’t win.

Gyne said see him in 12 weeks which be this weekend but no appt. Last time I had text with 48h notice so see what happens.

Hope Mondays been better for the rest of you!

Gosh @Akire what a palaver. There is just so much wrong with the system.

HerRoyalHappiness · 28/03/2022 22:33

@Akire what a faff!

Akire · 29/03/2022 11:30

Thanks not heard anything yet from GP or hospital still. Least pain has dropped few degrees so not at the rolling around floor stage today. Did manage take down rubbish out so peak achievement here.

How’s is everyone else today?

I slept in bad position, so feeling very wonky. My Mum ripped a fingernail off yesterday so I've just been round to wash her dishes. I'm utterly shattered just from doing that so I've got a lovely local cleaner there now giving her a quote and times for a weekly clean. A weight off my mind. Think I'm going to get this lady to do my house maybe once a month to make my own life a bit easier.

Uncle had massive stroke last night and has been in A&E for 18 hrs. Just being moved to a ward now so I have to ting back in an hour and get an update. Not much I can do however, as he's 350 miles away.

Akire · 29/03/2022 13:25

Sorry to hear about your uncle that does not sound good especially with covid rates in hospital.

Good idea about cleaner it affordable.

OP posts:
HerRoyalHappiness · 29/03/2022 18:56

@RainbowZebraWarrior sorry about uncle. Flowers

RainbowZebraWarrior · 29/03/2022 20:34

Uncle is ok, amazingly. Spoke to the most wonderful A&E Consultant today, who put my mind at rest. He was the sort of person who was just unbelievably reassuring. He even called me 'my lovely' and said I could ring him direct any time.

@Akire did you get seen eventually by GP?

@Gilead how are you? I'm thinking of you.

Thinking of everyone else, too.

Akire · 29/03/2022 20:55

That’s great it makes such a difference when someone is nice!

No nothing from GP supposed be back in 48h of doing e-consult but nothing. We see what happens tomorrow but hard edge all time waiting can’t go sleep In day case you miss something. Prob get the phot apt text tomorrow.

Gilead · 30/03/2022 08:23

Hi everyone, @Akire

@RainbowZebraWarrior sorry about your uncle, hope things improve rapidly.
I have a cleaner once a month, it maes an enormous difference to my life and is definitely worth it.
I’m still stuck in the hospital, no visitors allowed. Nothing shifting!

Akire · 30/03/2022 08:55

Morning. What’s the plan Gilead? Will it mean a new Op? Got woken up by something crashing in flat but not found out what it is yet.

OP posts:
RainbowZebraWarrior · 30/03/2022 10:25

Morning, and gentle hugs all round.

Cleaner seems lovely. Mam is going to have her weekly, I'm going to have her for 2 hrs once a month, so £30 well spent as she will be able to do the stuff I cant. Robo vacuum cleaner goes round couple times a week, so not that much physical stuff left for me to deal with.

Akire · 30/03/2022 10:42

Still no news from doctors. Thought maybe first thing so now it be before aft surgery? Will leave till PM before try and do thing again. Pain just about manageable so no pain killers yet. Got slight codeine headache from taking so much lightly. Should really get in clean PJs at least but feel totally drained!

OP posts:
RainbowZebraWarrior · 30/03/2022 10:59

Gosh @Akire that is so rubbish. Wish I could help.

Gilead · 30/03/2022 18:41

@Akire sorry this is happening it’s horrid, all the waiting.
Did you find what made the noise that woke you?
Plan here is lots of pain relief. Nurses ignoring what you tell them. Nothing to eat or drink other than water since Saturday (fair enough, it wasn’t puke that was coming up)
Then today after adding IV paracetamol to the mix (has been shown to be considerably more effective than morphine with fewer side effects) I stood upright, took myself to the loo, far fewer sound effects on movement, definitely easier so they took me off it! Aaarghh, you couldn’t bloody make it up!
Anyway trying breakfast tomorrow and if no bad results, home in the afternoon.
