I wouldn't recommend mine because it only lasts for 15 minutes before you have to switch it on again. Would recommend getting one that will last at least an hour without your input.
toodizzyizzy · 05/12/2021 20:23

Thanks @bicyclesaredeathtraps I'd really best do some research! Do you get any relief with that 15mins?

I have my covid booster on Weds if I ever get over this cold/cough. Feel so rundown. It’s already minus 3 here and I hate the cold, blooming DH is always like a furnace so every Winter it’s a constant fight over the thermostat. I’m always cold wrapped up in my layers he’s walking about in shorts and tshirt complaining he’s too warm.

Me and my DH are exactly the same! He is constantly on shorts all year round. Thankfully I work from home and he's working 6 days this week so that heating is going on as soon as he leaves in an hours time!!

Please does anyone know of a cozy toes type thing that will fit a high back powerchair? All the ones I’ve seen are on self propelled wheelchairs with the back secured by a couple of loops over the back handles.

Evenstar · 06/12/2021 20:34

Hope everyone doing OK today. Not so good as I had to get up early to take the dog to the vets. I haven’t felt right since being knocked over by a dog last week and had massage today, it did help but my husband said I was very pale when I got back and I was really in pain. Then I had to fetch the dog from the vets and was waiting ages on a hard chair. I shall be glad to get to bed tonight. The lady who does my massage got me to book an earlier appointment with my chiropractor as she feels my back and pelvis are misaligned after the fall, so I have that to look forward to on Wednesday 🙁

Thankfully all went well with my poor dog who has had 8 teeth out, but they did some X rays and she has had the all clear with her heart which we were worried about.

sweetkitty · 06/12/2021 22:56

@SpookyScarySkeletons it’s the opposite way here DH WFH and I work 5 days a week in a cold building. Today I never felt warm all day. After dinner I got into bed and had a little nap with 2 of the cats Blush I have an extra single duvet over my half of the bed too

I do, it's good pretty much as soon as it's on, but it doesn't last so I have to keep restarting it.
Worrysaboutalot · 07/12/2021 19:33

@dreamingdream

Has anyone had gall bladder surgery? What was it like?
Yes. I had gall bladder surgery 15 years ago. Mine should have been a straight forward key hole op and apparently these don't have much recovery time and not much pain. Hope yours is straightforward Flowers

However mine was an infected gall bladder, so they had to open me up and I ended up on a morphine pump with a talking cat on the ward. I told my husband not to tell the doctors about the cat, as he would be taken outside! (Hallucinations are fun!)

Worrysaboutalot · 07/12/2021 19:34

@doadeer Love the cow story :)

doadeer · 07/12/2021 20:19

Oh it must be contagious. I'm in terrible pain and very low today.

I saw the osteopath and I've now got shooting pains down my legs and my back is just pulsating with pain. Coedine takes the edge off but no way full relief or even close.

God it's depressing. I'm only 31 😢 i managed till 5pm with my toddler then limped off to bed.

Tomorrow is a new day.

TheDeadlyNightShade · 07/12/2021 21:10

Cheers @Worrysaboutalot that looks interesting. I’d prefer a zipped one as when you are in and out of shops or sat in cafés, restaurants etc. it would be good to just zip it open. So I’ll keep that one in my back pocket.

bicyclesaredeathtraps · 07/12/2021 21:21

Gentle hugs to everyone having a bad pain day today. I'm not too bad painwise today which is a relief. Yesterday I had a headache so bad it made me vomit, and I couldn't have any light or look at my phone for distraction. Interesting lightening flash effect whenever I looked away from a light as well. Thankfully after 11 hours of sleep and some paracetamol (although not sure how much of that stayed down!) it improved

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 07/12/2021 23:20

that sounds more like a migraine than just a headache @bicyclesaredeathtraps

im a mess tonight. i had a seizure and fell out of my chair. dislocated two toes, two fingers and both knees so now im sore and feel hungover

See I thought it might be a migraine but I've never had one before so I wasn't sure. A family member has really dramatic ones (can't speak or move) so I never know what qualifies. However I will note it down in my ever growing list of random neurological symtoms That sounds really horrible, hope you're at least managing to get some rest now
OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 08/12/2021 11:50

it definitely sounds like a migraine to me. the light thing and the vomiting are dead giveaways. ive suffered them since my early teens so im well versed in what they are heh

doadeer · 08/12/2021 12:11

Definitely a migraine! That sounds awful 😢💐

HerRoyalHappiness · 08/12/2021 18:32

Evening all.
Today I had DS2s nativity play. He did so well, spoke loud and clear so everyone could hear and made everyone laugh Xmas Grin

Akire · 08/12/2021 19:27

Just popping in to say not dropped dead (yet!) think turned corner but not wish the coughing and choking on anyway. I’ve no doubt without double jabbed would been ICU. Watching temp spike night after night 104 oxygen dropping 90 then back up. So worrying. Never stayed long enough at 92 to go hospital but knowing it could and you not know is not good.

Thanks for the migraine info everyone. I had another one today, horrible things.
Akire I hope things continue to improve for you covid-wise, sounds awful

Akire · 08/12/2021 23:59

Meant to say someone asking wheelchair zip up cosy toes things? Have about 5. The standard one are short. I’m 5 3 so small and there’s no way it will sit on manual wheelchair by handles. Maybe for an 8y old but not other wise.

In power chair which are higher up they come just over hips. I did buy an extra long one which comes up to mid chest but again way off reaching extra foot or so to attach handles. Usually they have old lady pic who must be 4 foot nothing and he foot stick out straight in front because no room reach floor.

Even if you found massive one soon as it rains you get very wet backside. I struggle keep either side tucked up inside my coat. Once they are wet take days to dry. They also take alot of tweaking if you need to transfer into it while it’s on your chair open. If it’s up to high no room put feet down and really uncomfy. Not up enough it keep sliding down and have keep yanking it up.

Having said that do keep your warm and dry and you can zip it open in shops so don’t sweat to death but you are still on sheep lined fleece so once get hot sweaty stuck with it for however many hours. My friends affectional call it my body bag Grin
