The gorilla analogy is brilliant!!!

@sweetkitty hope you're feeling a bit brighter this morning. I feel your pain on the teenage DD front. How is it that teens are so wise about everything and is parents apparently know absolutely nothing. 🤷‍♀️

Akire · 03/12/2021 12:53

Still waiting for results but now can’t smell so not really thinking it’s negative now! Been using Vicks under nose help stuff nose but even pot under nose nothing! Strange as of last night was all fine. Plus feeling better today with coughing.

How do you work out what day is day 1? The sneezing a small cough or the day you decide oh oh time To get PCR?

Hope the covid isn't too rough @Akire
@HerRoyalHappiness I think a donkey is a great idea, I once went to the christmas party of some kids I worked with dressed as a donkey (grey dress, grey tights, homemade felt donkey ears) but all the kids said I looked more like a bunny rabbit. Disappointing.
On my period today and I don't know if it's that, the cold, or coincidental, but it feels like someone took a sledgehammer to my joints.

HerRoyalHappiness · 03/12/2021 16:31

@bicyclesaredeathtraps I always feel worse around my totm.

Akire · 03/12/2021 16:56

Still no results not sure how much slower postal PCR. Feels like waiting ages now.

Not in to much pain just bored restless now

Just had my Gyn apt come through in kits over a week! So be just covid free so already panicking about that. And it’s not at nearest hospital like I asked so stress of finding accesable taxis and all that crap to go with too. I thought would be 6-12m at least! suppose it be out of way before Xmas

It international day of people with disabilities.
Does our prime minister discuss our needs and what can be done to help us? Insist that more spaces are accessible? No. He wears a purple tie. Xmas Hmm

Akire · 03/12/2021 19:15

Covid has finally really hit here. Youngest (14) had positive LFT on Monday and had positive PCR back on Wednesday and Mrs PC tested positive yesterday. The youngest is doing ok, but Mrs PC really grotty last night and in bed before 6:30pm.

I've had the settee all night and have woken up feeling grotty. LFT negative at the moment, but my joints feel like I've been hit by a bus.

Seems a bit too early for wine and codeine!! 🤣

We all had it at the start of November. I had headache for about 5 days, a cough in a morning, sore throat and lost my voice and felt tired. I was ok by about day 7/8. Definitely got off lightly! DH has no health conditions and he had scary high temperature and still has the cough now x

The way you look at it it could be a bit late for wine and codeine? 😂
sweetkitty · 04/12/2021 07:09

@Akire yes I work with non verbal autistic children, usually I can dodge but one little bit got his hands in and pulled hard. Took 2 people to get him off. I love my job but wonder if it’s too much for me hence the 7pm bedtime last night.

I’m so surprised by the lack of covid in our house with 4 DC at different schools. It’s been rampant where I work too. What I have noticed is even once people gone back after their 10 days they aren’t well still even weeks and weeks later

Akire · 04/12/2021 08:11

Day 6 today I think still waking up in pool of sweat and having strip off but only last 2 days and no actual temp. Breathing feels better less out breath just minor throat and cough. Stuffy nose still. I spend most days in bed anyway so not like I’m pushing myself to the limits. In bed having large glass orange juice which can still taste. I’m shocked I haven’t felt more sick certainly not suspect more than a cold really maybe been lucky with tiny viral load.

Sorry to hear the PC household has it also so much harder when kids involved and you can’t just die quietly on your own.

Hi, can I join please? I have back and hip pain caused by Bertolloti's Syndrome, it started causing me problems after my 4th child was born - I get so little sleep as I'm in pain, I'm a bit fed up with being in constant pain and the thought that it will only get worse doesn't help! 😂 currently coping on Naproxen and paracetamol, baths and hot water bottles!

Akire · 04/12/2021 08:36

Hi @Hotpinkangel19 great name, with4 kids you must get limited sleep anyway. It’s amazing what hot water bottles can do for that sort pain help give some relief. Even if end up having to be really hot I’ve burnt myself more once. Those microwave heat up for 60sec lukewarm things are not much cop.

I did email them from their tells us how improve service link but not going to do much good.

Wow. Love the gorilla story. So accurate! (Especially with @Akire addition)

I'm soooooo tempted to print it off and put a copy in each of my friends and relatives Christmas cards! Haha. But I won't. Because they will wonder 'what the hell is this?' I think you can only understand if it applies to you.

Anyway, happy Saturday everyone. Get well soon to all Covid sufferers.

ndo4000 · 04/12/2021 17:35

Hope you're managing ok @Akire . Sounds horrible. I wonder if you have the new variant?

Just checking in really. Having to spend 6 hours sitting in a hard chair at my daughters swimming gala. It is so bloody uncomfortable!!!! I'm sure I am irritating the people around me with all my fidgeting!

Got my COVID test on weds lunchtime before my steroid jab and the. I have to isolate. Sort of looking forward to that tbh! I never get time in my own!!!!! Ah well.... every cloud I guess!

Anyway have a good evening everyone. Crack open the wine and codeine and fingers crossed for a good nights sleep x

RainbowZebraWarrior · 04/12/2021 17:40

Bloody hell, man. DD started with a cold last night. Been in bed all day. Now I'm starting to feel really grotty. Just sat down and the cat came to crawl on my lap. He has what looks like tears running out of his eyes. Upon googling (reputable vet websites) it seems he also has a virus. I actually have to work tomorrow. I do very little meaningful work, so I could do with out this and am now wondering if we should get PCRs - well not the cat obviously - although who knows if cats can get Covid!? I've done oximeter readings for me and DD. She had Delta variant Covid in July. Her oxygen level was 93 but quickly picked up to 99. Mine was 99. DD has had low level temp. Just going to take mine now. Bugger, bugger bugger.

Akire · 04/12/2021 17:50

I think so many start as cold sore throat snotty odd cough but not awful. Feeling bit shakey but no temp. I’m sure would heard if new one must be testing them all.

Do you have any LTF @RainbowZebraWarrior mine showed up in seconds even when not supposed to use for symptoms.

I can still taste but it’s right up the creek so everything apart from dry bread taste awful. Think I prefer if had no taste at all. Even some fruit Xmas cake takes like eating spoon full of dark treckle so overly sweet or salty.

Plus been worrying all day about Gyn apt as we last parted words of well if it was serious you have lot more symptoms by now. (Been 2y of ovarian cancer signs) then get apt next week. Even not in covid times that’s bloody amazing. Trying not panic. I mean have to go either way and find out but have had lots bad exp this hospital in neurology so hardly reassuring. Plus stress of trying find reliable wheelchair taxi service as all really crap reviews. I’m in London so goodness knows what it’s like else where. I’ve got council card gives me some sub journeys well before covid. So for first £12 on meter I pay £3 then everything on top. But even if book days in advance they only start looking 15min before it then get the we are looking for taxi messages or calls which I can’t answer.

So stressful only reliable option is to take manual chair and get ten a penny taxi but hospital is massive though suppose least
Not be stranded. That’s if I’m post covid better. Going scare crap out everyone if coughing like I am In weeks time!

Taken more pain killers in bed ice pack and hot water bottles.

Yay Christmas tree is up!! Bloody cat is climbing it already.

DH pissing me right off by constantly accepting extra shifts. I've not spent more than a couple of hours with him for the last month. It's frustrating cos it's always a bone of contention that I earn double what he does so he feels he needs to work more to contribute even though for our first 6-7 years together he earned double what I did. Anyway whinge over!!

I managed to half build the tree then DD12 sorted the top branches. Then she and DD17 and DD17s girlfriend did the decorating under my instructions.

I feel all lovely and Christmassy now!

Hope all have had a peaceful weekend!
