Just waiting for an appointment with my mental health team for a physical exam. That should be fun. I'll be told I'm obese and need to lose weight. . . Easier said than done when you're unable to walk unaided.

Have you tried low carbing at all? I'm diabetic so eat very very low carb but plenty of protein and good healthy fats and I'm still steadily losing even though I can't exercise.

My right foot and ankle are on fire at the moment. I've cheated and taken 30mg of codeine and I'm still rocking to try and get through the pain.

HerRoyalRisesAgain · 07/10/2021 13:10

I have tried low carbjng, I couldn't stick to it. I like pie too much Grin

cricketmum84 · 07/10/2021 13:26

Haha I also like pie 😉 unfortunately it doesn't like me and sends my blood sugars soaring!

Low carb bread isn't very nice. It tastes a bit like that semi sweet bread you get in Spain? And if you toast it it crumbles into dust.

Oh well... at least I will always have cheese!

HerRoyalRisesAgain · 07/10/2021 14:25

Low carb bread is awful. So is gluten free bread (DS2 is coeliac)

Evenstar · 07/10/2021 15:15

I find the gluten free is OK toasted.

HerRoyalRisesAgain · 07/10/2021 15:52

I've never eaten it toasted. It tastes like cardboard so I give it to DS2 who needs it and just eat normal bread Grin

Evenstar · 07/10/2021 16:05

One of my sons trained and then worked as a chef for a few years, he maintains that everything gluten free not only tastes like cardboard, but is made from it. I have been gluten free since 2013, and my doctor feels there is no point eating it again to get an official diagnosis.

Actually some things are really nice and I have been able to adapt favourite recipes it just usually needs more liquid, the thing to look out for in commercial products is that often they add a lot more sugar.

HerRoyalRisesAgain · 07/10/2021 16:22

I dont mind gluten free pasta. That's about it though Grin

Evenstar · 07/10/2021 19:36

We only have gluten free pasta now it’s just me and DH, but actually the kids have had it when they are home and not noticed

cricketmum84 · 07/10/2021 23:00

Did my 5 unaided steps 4 times today!! Once when my parents were here and they were so happy!

That's 20 unaided steps in one whole day!!

Gilead · 08/10/2021 00:32

That's 20 unaided steps in one whole day!!

That’s brilliant, well done you!

HerRoyalRisesAgain · 08/10/2021 06:47

@cricketmum84 that's fantastic! Well done!

I'm exhausted today. I've been so busy all week I just want to sleep now.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 08/10/2021 12:59

really struggling with my mental health at the minute, waiting on a call back from my nurse after she speaks to the doctor about possibly upping my meds or adding a new one in. I think its been triggered by two things, 1- my smear test which i find traumatic for past truama reasons and 2- its comingb up to ten year anniversary of my mum passing away and that was a really rough time for me.

Hopefully the doctor will help and i will feel better soon.

sweetkitty · 09/10/2021 13:49

@OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack sorry to hear your struggling hope you get something to help Flowers

I have a weeks holiday from work now Smile so happy to have a break it’s lovely having a weekend thinking I don’t have work to do tomorrow. I used to work 3 days a week then upped it to 4 days and thought I might as well be there for 5 as I was doing 5 days anyway. In some ways it’s easier to be there full time when I was 3 days I felt I missed out plus you get to pick up all the rubbish and fill in. It’s just very hard to me - I think o need to balance it out. Im very very fortunate in that financially I could cut days the extra money is nice but not essential to eat, decisions decisions. Im contracted to the end of this year so will have to stick it out.

TMJD pain is horrific today too can’t eat properly.

cricketmum84 · 09/10/2021 17:01

@sweetkitty I've just booked some holiday too :) I've worked non stop since the start of the pandemic. Had all my holidays paid by previous employer as I was essential skeleton crew. Started a new job in May and I've got 2 weeks that I have to take before the end of December or I lose them.

Just thought sod it I'll have 6 days at the end of October and spend my time watching Christmas films 😂😂

Sorry the pain is so bad at the moment. It's just shit isn't it 😢

I did another 20 unaided steps yesterday in batches of 5 at a time again. But JFC my legs feel like I've run a bloody marathon today!!

So ready for strictly, Chinese takeaway and a large G&T!

Akire · 09/10/2021 18:36

I’ve come away few days see family but my back is really bad still. Not like worst pain everyday in fact I’d score it about 4 but more when bending can’t help but moan and groan. Hoping it eases up soon.

@OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack how you feeling today?

OP posts:
OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 09/10/2021 18:52

im delicate but managing, thanks for asking @Akire

I had a third covid vaccine yesterday and my arm is absolutely killing me but that seems to be my only side effect from it

how everyone else doing?

Akire · 09/10/2021 19:02

I think we should all be getting far more emotional support even those around us often have no Idea and it’s not something every medically asked about unless you are obviously in an awful place, but a bit bloody late by then!

Drugs are helping so rather floaty now which helps, Nieces and nephews are upstairs and strangely quiet (4 under 10!) there’s hope for the evening yet

Hi sorry for the offload rant earlier Blush I’m just very down right now. This TMJD pain isn’t going anywhere fast and I’ll have to do something drastic about it but I just don’t have the time to be traipsing to private hospital miles away and forgoing loads but I’m going to have to as I’m in so much pain anyway.

And the woman at the Boots counter was giving me all the evils of codeine and not to use it for more than 3 days because it can become addictive (I’ve been on it for 5 years now it keeps me functional at times). And the only reason I’m buying it is to try and make my dihydrocodeine last longer as I stupidly forgot to get another repeat prescription as they only give me 14 days at a time Angry do you know how hard it is when your in a shedload of pain. and your trying to stretch your painkillers until you really really can’t do without them?

Oops I’ve went ranty again but I hate that most of us on this thread will have experienced this we’re not done junkies looking for our next codeine fix we’re just people in a lot of pain struggling to get through the day and have some kind of life!

HerRoyalRisesAgain · 10/10/2021 08:32

Morning. Back is killing today, plus I've woken up with a sore throat and a headache.

cricketmum84 · 10/10/2021 11:03

@sweetkitty if there is any place in the world that a pain and doctors rant is appreciated and allowed then it's here! I did the same earlier this week as my evil GP has taken my codeine away. I have had to turn to black market codeine... (my mums friend has a repeat prescription but doesn't take them anymore so they just keep sending them to her!! So annoying that someone who doesn't need them gets them fished out like smarties while those of us in chronic pain are treated like junkies!)

@Akire hope you are having a lovely time with family ❤️

@HerRoyalRisesAgain sorry you are feeling so rubbish :( hope your day improves for you.

Today I am mostly reading a book and counting down the hours until it's acceptable to have a nice glass of painkilling wine!

sweetkitty · 10/10/2021 11:09

@Akire thank you
I can’t even have wine anymore Sad it gives me migraines. Last time I met up with a friend had a few cocktails I spent the next 2 days in bed unable to eat, drink, speak and was a wreck basically. Lost 5lbs in 2 days through dehydration (sipping water just for it to come back up again), it’s just not worth the risk anymore. So I turned to my other vice chocolate but now I can’t eat that properly but I have a tactic, post a bit into my mouth and wait until it melts Grin

Akire · 10/10/2021 12:09

I find catch myself saying “oh I treat myself to some meds” when you been agony all day because you have keep strong ones for when you are desperate and avoid the druggy seeking behaviour.

Glad you have a black market supply I take codeine for month sometimes the only withdrawal I get is headache for day or two that passes. They do help
Pain but make you feel sick and constipated dry mouth might as well just get drug less side effects.
