do you get up early with your kids on christmas day?

every sodding year mil nags us to get up - i can hear her asking my dp if i'm up yet. at 8.00 usually. it's bugging me so much - sometimes i lie in bed just to wind her up.

yes yes tulpe! already today it's been 'you have to tell mummy and daddy to get up early' whereas we do every year! ds is now 8.

of course i want to see him open his presents

7am is the earliest time anyone is allowed downstaurs in our house. If DD wakes before then - which is extremely unlikely TBH (fortiunately!) - she comes for snuggles in our bed. Normally me and/or DH will be awake anyway.

Then we all go down for presents together.

Well then, Jeep, go for it Languish beneath the duvet and insist on at least one cuppa to "wake you up" before deigning to present yourself to MiL and remainder of family

So she has been dictating this to you for 15 bloody years!! No wonder you are pissed! Can i ask why she stays over every year? What does your OH say about it?

NO-ONE but no-one would dare to wake me before 7am EVER!! I am grumpy mummy before then. Anything after that is fine. . Although I do have to have caffeine before any photo's are taken....

DH wakes me up every year...first year it was 5am and then has been around 6am every year. He didn't do Christmas presents when he was growing up and so is still mega excited. He woke up before DD this year (she is 8mo - so you can imagine how early that was!)

I'm always so excited, I wake up before DD gets up.
