Why is it that every time she says 'It looks Christmassy' or 'That is soooo Christmassy' while holding up something red or green I want to slap her?

EdgarAleNPie · 09/12/2009 20:46

my grandma ran a greetings business...my mum grew up doing this sort of thing by the thousand (eg, cutting 9 thousand sleighs, cutting tiny ribbons to dress the weeney reindeer)

my view is it is not something you do much of for fun.

wait till you see what i can do with gold paper and scissors..and sellotape !!

meemar · 09/12/2009 20:46

'add a glue gun to the mix and my life is complete'

Yes, me too

punchandjudy · 09/12/2009 20:46

Now, I too would love a glue gun.

OverflowingFestiveMum · 09/12/2009 20:47

Damn....I dont have wire or glue gun..apparently true Christmas essentials!!
Maybe Turkey and mince pies will do instead

ShutUpandDrinkYourMulledWine · 09/12/2009 20:47

ribbon shop is in sloane square I knew it

JackTheHallsWithBauersOfHolly · 09/12/2009 20:47

'Wait until you see what I can do with a cluster of acorns or nuts?'

Roffle

Glue guns - Fiver in my local hyper value. Inlcluding refills.

JackTheHallsWithBauersOfHolly · 09/12/2009 20:48

Thought she wasn't going to go near the (sneer) 'high street'

Or is it okay to buy or make cheap stuff as long as you wrap it in gold leaf?

splodge2001 · 09/12/2009 20:50

I'll show you a pretty christmas treat or 100 if you give me loads of cash so I can employ a full time nanny/housekeeper/maid/butler etc

punchandjudy · 09/12/2009 20:51

Love the hobbycraft add in the break..very well placed!

EdgarAleNPie · 09/12/2009 20:51

ooh good placement for the Hobbycraft ad.

pigleychez · 09/12/2009 20:52

Loving the advert for Hobbycraft just then. Kirsty would prob pee her pants in there!

ShutUpandDrinkYourMulledWine · 09/12/2009 20:52

sloane square probably doesn't count as high street

it is nice to see independent businesses promoted etc

but it is abundantly clear that I will not be able to afford their services for the foreseeable future

EdgarAleNPie · 09/12/2009 20:52

@punch great minds/..

JackTheHallsWithBauersOfHolly · 09/12/2009 20:53

This is my actual face right now.

EdgarAleNPie · 09/12/2009 20:53

@pigleychez fools seldom differ

ShutUpandDrinkYourMulledWine · 09/12/2009 20:53

god I love brown bread icecream

I have a secret love of old-fashioned cookery books - with the funny photos

I would think it weird to get one for christmas though

pigleychez · 09/12/2009 20:54

Madness! The expensive Teddy for a 3yr old!! Crazy lady!

meemar · 09/12/2009 20:54

brown bread ice cream?

EdgarAleNPie · 09/12/2009 20:54

you are hairless, noseless, and yellow jack?

splodge2001 · 09/12/2009 20:54

EdgarAleNPie · 09/12/2009 20:56

makes me slightly tearful...

hehe well there's some eyes watering on here tonight...

ShutUpandDrinkYourMulledWine · 09/12/2009 20:56

rofl edgar

JackTheHallsWithBauersOfHolly · 09/12/2009 20:57

Yup!

It's the whole 'Ooh I made it, it's so special

She should come over to the craft threads on here.

I regularly make my DD's toys, because I can't afford new ones!

SHE DIDNT MAKE THOSE FUCKING PRESENTS. I HAVE MADE MY PRESENTS, SHE GOT SOMEONE ELSE TO!

This is all DH's fault, if he hadn't got pissed and passed out in teh bed he would make me change the channel and I wouldn't be having an embollism right now!

MollieO · 09/12/2009 20:57

LOL Edgar!

I wonder when they filmed it? Won't the children be confused if they got Christmas presents any other time than Christmas?
