DH is purple with apoplexy at the twee. It's the Salford in him.

serinBrightside · 08/12/2009 20:56

DS had that polar bear cake for his birthday cake at the weekend! He ate the whole bloody bear by himself.

ruddynorah · 08/12/2009 20:56

dh- 'fuckin wow my arse'

MollieO · 08/12/2009 20:58

I assume her children aren't actually allowed in the house .

crankytwanky · 08/12/2009 20:59

WilfSell I laughed so much at your list a little bit of wind came out!

I WANT THAT WREATH!

giddyupRudolph · 08/12/2009 20:59

The programme has sent DH into such a rage that I have had to turn it off to maintain domestic harmony. He never gets angry but he is seriously fuming at it. I'm confused.

WilfSell · 08/12/2009 21:01

Men around the country are taking to the streets smashing windows. DH has just howled hearing it is on tomorrow as well...

SmacOnTheLipsUnderTheMistletoe · 08/12/2009 21:01

and there's more tomorrow night!

crankytwanky · 08/12/2009 21:02

Gosh I'm glad DH is at work! The show seems to have an undesirable effect on menfolk!

MollieO · 08/12/2009 21:02

Isn't it the first of a three-parter?

CybilLiberty · 08/12/2009 21:03

I like the way she wrapped her wreath with 'wah'

SmacOnTheLipsUnderTheMistletoe · 08/12/2009 21:03

sorry x posts with Wilf. DH is doing nights so I get the remote and don't have to suffer America's Hardest Prisons or the other drivel he chooses to watch. Yes it's twee but I still like it!

WilfSell · 08/12/2009 21:03

three?

I love her though.

giddyupRudolph · 08/12/2009 21:05

DH - "I know Kirstie is my guilty pleasure, but this programme is so vacuous that it's giving me a migraine"

MollieO · 08/12/2009 21:08

Here according to Radio Times:

Wednesday
2/3

Series in which Kirstie Allsopp shares her tips for a magical hand-crafted Christmas. Kirstie prepares presents for her family and friends, enlisting the help of some of the UK's most talented crafts people to prove that a visit to the high street can be avoided when looking for stocking-fillers. She also flexes her negotiating muscles by taking a trip to Goldbourne Road market in London to look for the best second-hand gifts.

Thursday
3/3

Series in which Kirstie Allsopp shares her tips for a magical hand-crafted Christmas. Kirstie prepares for her festive party with the help of writer Amy Willcock, who lends a hand with the all-important turkey. Chocolatier Marc Demarquette also gives Kirstie some pointers on how to make perfect chocolate truffles, while three members of the Embroiderers Guild demonstrate how to create Christmas napkins.

WilfSell · 08/12/2009 21:08

rofl at smac: yes, that's the TV gender divide isn't it?

Making fluffy things in an aspirational way (her bargain hurricane lantern cost 35 quid I think) vs. let's follow some lowlife on a shaky thermal imaging night camera and listen to bleeps.

hormonesnomore · 08/12/2009 21:12

MollieO - must go now & embroider my Christmas napkins. Hahaha. I love Kirstie though - she's a good sort.

MollieO · 08/12/2009 21:16

hormones I feel all anxious at the thought of fitting in all these essential Christmas crafts between now and the big day .

SmacOnTheLipsUnderTheMistletoe · 08/12/2009 21:17

DH doing overtime night shifts on Wednesday and Thursday night so will be watching all 3 !

I told DH I didn't need to know about American prisoners shoving drugs up their bumholes but he probably feels the same way about bargain hurricane lanterns at 35 quid.

I do feel a little bit inspired to try making a wreath though although my garden doesn't have any potential for freebies at all.

MollieO I didn't know people still bought the Radio Times?

Shellseeker · 08/12/2009 21:42

Is it wrong to be secretly a little bit in love with Kirstie?

,,,and Nigella?

zisforzebra · 08/12/2009 21:51

Kirstie's idea of budget and cheap are nowhere near mine but I do like watching her and occasionally can get some inspiration from her programmes.

She drives my DH mad as well (his summary was "knitted woman makes shit you don't need") though but luckily for both of us, he's working tomorrow and thursday.

lucykate · 08/12/2009 22:00

i am not convinced the woman who made the icing polar bear with kirstie has actually ever looked to see what a polar bear looks like.

girlywhirly · 09/12/2009 09:30

Kirstie must have had £60 worth of fir in her decs even before adding her 'free' ivy, etc. I love to watch her making stuff, even if I wouldn't do it myself. I thought she was going to do my trick of buying old crystal drops from broken chandeliers in the flea market, and making them into decs for the Christmas tree.
