My dp is very hard to buy for and I need some suggestions. What are you buying for yours?

He has an ipod, wii, fancy laptop etc.

He has a beautiful work bag, I've already ordered a special picture of me and dd, he has gloves, a wallet etc.

He has expensive tastes in clothes but buys what he wants when he sees it so I never buy him clothes.

I have no ideas at all .

TIA

Does he listen to the radio? I got dp a Pure Highway for the car - no more static and he can listen to ALL the stations now.

Makes car journeys much better - used to have to listen to 5-live through a LOT of static but don't now

monkeysmama · 03/12/2009 17:45

He has a fancy radio in his fancy car. I put a Roberts radio on my Christmas list and he thinks it is a sill idea .

Thanks though.

Fancy car polish for the fancy car?

Sound like a great car if it's got a good radio already!

bogie · 03/12/2009 19:25

have a look on www.firebox.com I always find bits for dp on there.

AvadaKedavra · 03/12/2009 19:28

Have you asked him if there's anything he wants? How about a weather station, they are the in thing for blokes this year.

Lapsedrunner · 03/12/2009 19:30

DH is getting noise canceling headphones (frequent flyer)

TheGoddessBlossom · 03/12/2009 19:53

god men are really hard to buy for.

DH is getting:

about 5 books and dvds on pike fishing, that he has chosen
socks
snow patrol dvd
mobile coffe mug (you know those insulated ones)
slippers
load of other crap that he probably doesn't want!

dairymoo · 03/12/2009 19:57

I have given my DP a Starbuck's insulated coffee flask and a gift card before, when in desperation for stocking stuffer ideas. I know he can afford to buy his own coffee but sometimes a gift card feels a bit more of a treat.

hannahsaunt · 03/12/2009 20:02

Dh has been complaining of the cold at night and has resorted to two duvets on the bed (13.5 tog and 10 tog). I object to the aesthetics so he's getting a beautiful king size cashmere blanket. (In case RL friends think we've just won the lottery - it's second hand and amazingly reduced).

CremeDeMenthe · 03/12/2009 20:05

Tickets for a show/concert?

Tillyscoutsmum · 03/12/2009 20:09

DH has a weather station (I had no idea they were the in thing for blokes - thought mine was just a bit of a geek !)

A photo desk calendar

A book he wanted

A magazine subscription

Some PJ things

Chocs

MisSalToeKisses · 03/12/2009 20:20

Agree with noise canceling headphones - dh has www.bose.co.uk/GB/en/home-entertainment/headphones-and-headsets/acoustic-noise-cancelling-headphones /qc3/index.jsp these and swear by them when flying. (I steal them when flying with, so agree!)

Hmm, just asked dh, and he suggested Dilbert collection.

Or, if he already has everything he wants - would he like a really fancy lunch out? Marcus Wareing at the Berkeley does a fantastic lunch menu at £35 pp (plus then wine etc of course, but at least cost of meal will be fixed).

MisSalToeKisses · 03/12/2009 20:21

Hmm, sorry for messy link!

saladfingers · 03/12/2009 20:29

what about an 'experience' voucher. 'Go Ape' have 20+ centres around the UK, if he's the daredevil type? www.goape.co.uk

nigglewiggle · 03/12/2009 20:30

DH would love the noise canceling headphones (he just tried them and raved about them). Unfortunately I have already ordered a pair of silver cufflinks with DDs' handprints on them. I think he'll love these just as much.

AvadaKedavra · 03/12/2009 20:31

Private Eye subscription?

saladfingers · 03/12/2009 20:32

Peter Kay tickets go on sale tomorrow at 11am for his tour next year if he likes a bit of comedy

Lapsedrunner · 03/12/2009 20:35

.....cuff links with handprints on must be massive?

nigglewiggle · 03/12/2009 20:37

We have very small children! No they scan the prints, reduce them then imprint them.

MisSalToeKisses · 03/12/2009 20:40

Have heard good things about Apple tv. This is coming from a relatively geeky house though.

saladfingers · 03/12/2009 20:45

lol

we're getting something similar for nanny's 60th birthday present, a silver charm bracelet with finger prints of all the grandchildren. They do key chains etc too

DaftApeth · 03/12/2009 20:56

Cashmere socks/jumper?

book - autobiography of someone he likes? Dp is getting the Tescothick one this year.

Chamois for his expensive car?

Clarins type toiletries?

Couples spa day?

Golf lessons?

Magazine subscription?

Sexy underwear for you?

Dvd, cd?

Weekend away?

Wine?

Gourmet hamper?

monkeysmama · 03/12/2009 21:01

What is a weather station?

Tickets to something is a good idea.

I think a nice meal is a lovely idea but not for him. Like with the experience days, he gets to do amazing things through work that I just could not match (nor want to!) Last week he ate at the Connaught twice and in Vancouver for work the week before he went on some special little plane that he was taught to drive.

I got him an insulated cup years ago and he lost it on day 1 back at work.

I'd like a thumb print necklace but he hates any kind of jewellery and I bought him some Mont Blanc cuff links last year....

I think tickets would be good and am going to look at Apple tv now.

So far he has a shoe cleaning box , some new pjs, a calendar from dd and a nice photo of us.

Thanks for all the posts - keep them coming!

Sexy underwear for me is being added to the list!

What magazine would you subscribe him to? Ok, so you don't know him, but I find lots of them pretty offensive!
