After all the wish-list letters to Santa, careful planning/shopping, random purchases, requests to families/spouses - what has (so far) lived up to expectation? What is not nearly as wonderful as it seemed in the adverts? Any unexpected surprises - good or bad?

Hits: Harry Potter book, High School Musical Electronic Dance Mat, battery powered hamster that scuttles over the floor in a perspex ball, remote control dragonfly.

Misses: various bits of clothing that needs to be exchanged for different sizes.

DS1 17, DS2 14 have been squabbling over a long flexi rubber type centipede which cost £1.50 and has been pulled, knotted and swung about constantly since 8am Christmas day.

bunny3 · 26/12/2008 16:35

Hits: For ds the lego police station - it's a thing of beauty!
DD1 and 2 are playing non-stop with the toy kitchen and dream cottage grocery store.

Misses: singalong igglepigge - terrifies dd2 and she runs out of the room everytime it makes a noise!
ELC fairy land thing - kept them amused for 10 5 seconds

deckthegirlandboywithholly · 26/12/2008 16:37

I love my DS.

Lancelottie · 26/12/2008 19:18

Miss: accidentally stuffing DS2's main present (Wii game) into his stocking because it was the same shape as the vvvvvvvv cheap joke book, and it was late, and dark...

only realised when I heard the early morning cry of 'If the stocking is THIS good, I wonder what my MAIN present is!!!!'

Hits - robot dog we got for DS2 - it was a bit of a gamble but it paid off.

Misses - the docking station for my Walkman mp3 player which isn't really compatible. It won't sit in the little slot as the connection is the wrong type and connecting it by a cable isn't really what I wanted.

SpookyMadMummy · 26/12/2008 19:44

Hits: Nintendo DS each for the DD's.. and one had a Mummy make me better doll and the other a baby Chou Chou potty one..

Clary · 26/12/2008 22:10

Hits:

Nintendo DS for DD (not surprising I guess and just as well as cost £90)

20Q from SiL for DS1 I think which even DH agrees is really good.

GK kit for DS2 even tho it's far too big for him.

Indiana Jones lego for DS1

Draughts set for DS1

Misses:

cheap crayons from an aunt - I'd rather she just sent them a bar of chocolate (or nothing at all tbh) than crap crayons that break all the time.
