As a child we always had an angel - one of those old fashioned ones with a funny fuzzy dolls head and skirt made of nylon. However, the first year of living with DH we went out and bought all of our Christmas decos and he grabbed a big gold star. In his family it was always a star. I'm sat here now and tbh, it bothers me. Just doesn't look quite right. I'm thinking of buying an angel and sneaking it onto the tree - don't think DH would really care either way. Just wondered what the general consensus here is?

ABudafulSightWereHappyTonight · 08/12/2008 16:00

Star here although it was always an angel when I was a child. Haven't seen one I liked though.

frankbestfriend · 08/12/2008 16:01

Pre dcs it was always a star, much more stylish imo

However dd prefers likes a big old tacky angel, so angel it is!

NewNameOtherOneWasObvious · 08/12/2008 16:02

Always a star in our house, DS (when he was tiny) thought it was too girly to have an angel so star it is. I haven't seen any angels I like any way

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 08/12/2008 16:03

Star. Although we have had Santa before.

HangingbaublesofBethlehem · 08/12/2008 16:06

This one might fit the bill?

I always thought a star would look classy but our star is just plain old gold plastic and look like... gold plastic.

timmette · 08/12/2008 16:08

Star we have a really nice gold one and you can even put a fairy light in.

HangingbaublesofBethlehem · 08/12/2008 16:10

Check out these - I remember having those on our tree when I was little. I'm going to phone my mum tonight and see if she's still got any hanging around.

Angel (currently a homemade by dd one made of cardboard, doilies and glitter)

We're classy like that.

ohdearwhatamess · 08/12/2008 16:36

I think we have an angel, but I honestly can't remember (decorations not up yet).

I'd love a Robin though.

cherryontopofthexmastree · 08/12/2008 16:39

we have a cuddly winnie the pooh, dressed as an angel. from the disney store dontcha know!!!

weWUZZuaFRAGGLExmas · 08/12/2008 17:17

we have a santa

weWUZZuaFRAGGLExmas · 08/12/2008 17:18

woops, got confused with the smilies

yummybunnymummy · 08/12/2008 18:17

i vote for the tacky plastic doll / angel option, every year we try and improve her general shabbyiness and tackines with a bit more lace and tin foil (ds additions), just one of those family rituals that now after a few years seems really special, although does look pretty awful, but i love it!!

yummybunnymummy · 08/12/2008 18:18

lol at woolies plastic angel...very like ours (without the added improvement of tin foil and a shed load of sellotape...

pigleypudding · 08/12/2008 18:19

We have a silver sparkly wire snowflake with beads on it... Sounds naff but is nice really

This year we have gone for this instead - angel

ChippyMyrrhton · 08/12/2008 18:31

angel (or fairy)here

at work we have a star I discarded, now someones has stuck a homemade knitted angel on top of the star there is obviously an argument a debate to be had about star V angel

santasinmywaistband · 08/12/2008 18:35

Love it pigley

seeker · 08/12/2008 18:36

Star. A particular, beautiful mirrored star that dp and I bought for our first Christmas together 25 years ago.

bollockbrainASSofBETHLEHEM · 08/12/2008 18:37

a home made angel, made by the dc when they wre tiny. All wonky with a wonky face. But it is the best ever.

TortoiseRidesaReindeer · 08/12/2008 18:40

'We have a silver sparkly wire snowflake with beads on it'
That sounds just like what i have.

IF one of the DC bought home a home made angel i would swap but only if they insisted!

blametheparents · 08/12/2008 18:43

Try something new.

We have a Christmas Moose, he is white with gold antlers and looks great. We've had him a good few years now and it now seems like a family tradition! I can't even remember how it came to be that we had him, or put him on the tree, but he looks fab!
