last year i order a present for my niece and it arrived after christmas...sorry. like you i thought i would be organised and paid for it in the first week of dec.

Pinkjennybellrock · 02/12/2008 14:37

I ordered a DVD boxset for dh, which gave an estimated delivery of 5-9 Jan, but it has been dispatched today.

bellaBuonNatalevita · 02/12/2008 15:01

DH ordered a book for me on Friday and it arrived yesterday.

BouncingTinsel · 02/12/2008 15:11

Yes I was going to order something for DH and it said dispatched date between 23 - 30 December. Strangely enough, when I selected express delivery, it came up with a dispatch sate of 4 Dec

I cancelled the order!

Chamomile · 02/12/2008 15:15

I've placed 4 Amazon orders in the last month and everything has arrived without problems.

saltire · 02/12/2008 15:18

I ordered some books for delivery to my mum on Friday, she got them yesterday, same with the 2 PS2 games I got for the boys. I'm jsut waiting for another book to arrive now, and I've had an email to say it's been despatched

llareggub · 02/12/2008 15:22

I've had great service from Amazon lately. I've ordered late on a Wednesday evening and taken delivery Friday morning, despite going for the supersaver delivery.

I think it depends a little on what you're ordering and if it's really Amazon selling it to you. I've had everything I wanted delivered quickly and efficiently but a woman in the office is still waiting for the exact same book I ordered and have already received.

Blinglovin · 02/12/2008 15:38

Sorry - I should clarify that - she paid less than me, so I think she got it from a different seller than I did.

bratnav · 02/12/2008 15:41

My heart was in my mouth when i saw the thread titles, I have ordered almost our whole Christmas present list from them in the last couple of days, looks ok though

HappyMummyOfOne · 02/12/2008 15:47

Have done numerous orders over last 2 weeks and prior to that and everything has been fine. I only buy from Amazon though and not the sellers.

All the orders I placed on Friday have either been despatched or are at packing stage.

Had no problems last year either so have done the bulk through them this year.

OllieWollieWoo · 02/12/2008 16:22

All my orders have arrived - but whats really annoyed me is that everything was listed as being in stock and all brought from Amazon but they have dispatched them in dribs and drabs so one order had 4 different deliveries! Not v env friendly esp (and I am no eco warrier!) with all the packaging they use! (Feel better for getting that off my chest - its been really bugging me!)

HappyMummyOfOne · 02/12/2008 16:25

Think due to their size they no longer have one main warehouse so noticed items are arriving in bits on some orders but not on others. At least they use boxes which can be recycled and the tetra bubble wrap can also be recycled. Far better than the companies who just despatch in plastic bags with no packaging so ends up damaging the items box etc.

cookinmama · 02/12/2008 16:26

I have ordered loads and most has arrived, I did split my orders up though as last year I had my entire order not arriving because one item was meant to be in stock at the begining of dec and was then delayed until Jan. Had to email them in the end and the dispatched the rest without it.

janeite · 02/12/2008 20:10

I've done five orders in the last three weeks. All of them have now arrived, although the DVDs all arrived posted separately. And one of them, a poncey French thing for dp, I have managed to hide somewhere and can't remember where! So Amazon is great - but I'm not.

neversaydie · 02/12/2008 20:17

I have ordered lots of stuff (husband's birthday is on the 11th) this year, as has my Mum. All on free p&p, and delivery has been very quick so far. So no worries there.

On the other hand, I have just spent last years Christmas present gift token at Amazon.com and the projected delivery date is some time in May 2009! (For stuff that was all listed as being in stock, and paying for delivery.) I decided that the projected date was just a glitch and went ahead, although I suppose they could be planning on sending it by camel train via Australia. I have just checked my account and at least half the order is being packed now. So I guess it must be the camels.

ohdearwhatamess · 02/12/2008 20:35

I've done lots of orders in the past few weeks and months and all have arrived next day. Do have Amazon Prime membership though.

On the other hand they have been an absolute PITA about collecting something that was sent to me but I didn't order.

slayerette · 02/12/2008 20:38

My Sharpe's Peril DVD arrived yesterday.

Sigh....

I'm very happy with Amazon

tryingtocookacurry · 02/12/2008 20:40

I had terriblr problems one year for my son's bday where they estimated the deilivery to be 2 weeks and then 2 weeks later extended the delivery date and again and again blah blah until I cancelled.
This year, they had delivered a book and left it by my bin, didn't bother putting a note through the door telling me it was there and so it sat there in the rain for a couple of days until it was found at the weekend. Lovely! But - this isn't Amazons fault it's the delivery people

Yanda · 02/12/2008 20:42

All my recent orders have arrived on time recently. Yesterday at 3pm I placed a large order, chose first class delivery and it arrived at midday today

bratnav · 04/12/2008 13:42

Yay, ordered Monday night, arrived lunchtime today (supersaver delivery)

leoleomakingalist · 04/12/2008 13:46

I use Amazon a lot - leathal to me I have unopened boxes hidden under my bed because I can't resist buying books even if I can't find the time to read them! Never a problem with delivery except last christmas the supersaver delivery kept saying the delivery would be after christmas unless I paid for first class .
Haven't ordered anything this month... Yet...
Waterstones has been cheaper than them a bit recently and I have a points card.

Guadalupe · 04/12/2008 13:51

I had a dreadful time with amazon last christmas so this year I've been a bit more careful. I ordered it all at the same time but checked individual things for dispatch dates and any that weren't immediately available I put into separate orders.

The things that say they are available for express delivery usually leave fastest so I put all those together and grouped others together too. Still free delivery but it means your whole parcel won't be held up for the one item that says dispatched in one to two weeks or whatever. It costs more to ask for them to be sent when ready.

brightwell · 04/12/2008 14:25

I had a bad time last year aswell, ended up cancelling it getting it from HMV. This year i ordered at the end of October and it's all arrived. I placed another order with them last week, said items to be delivered between 16-22 which is cutting it a bit fine, I've had emails to say it's all been dispatched.
