Out of stock...do I give up ?

I am bit naïve in the whole present buying thing when something is out of stock as (luckily) not really had that problem before.

However, went online last week and made a list of a few things for my sons and have since gone on and they are all out of stock! Not the end of the world as it is nothing they have asked for in particular but do shops get things in stock again before Christmas? Surely as it is only 22nd November they should do!? I have put in to email me when back in stock and one of the items is in stock at the main supplier but of course at higher price!

Anyway, thats it really..just wanted to know how this whole out of stock thing works!! lol

No there won't be any new stock in this year sorry

It works like this. Toy importers in this country place their orders to china and these toys are sent over on humongous container ships that take six weeks to sail from china to the UK. They arrive around September time and that's the lot. What comes on those containers is what goes in the shop so once you see these toys in the shops you need to buy them then. Importing these toys into the country used to be my job.

Of course you can shop around, just because it's not in one shop doesn't mean it wont be in a different one, but if it isn't in the UK now, there won't be another container ship coming this year.

What is it you're looking for?

What you looking for? I'm at work with nothing to do for a couple of hours so can look for you if you want.

thanks for your replies and offer of help. One is a Wall.e toy which my Tescos has a sign saying back in today. My DH just asked at the customer services and they said that they will probably have it out the back as most stock is put out over night so I will go first thing tomorrow.

The other is a Lego toy which they do have in stock on the main website (despite being out of stock at Argos, John Lewis and Amazon!) so will probably bite the bullet and pay for it there go there despite it being £7 more expensive than anywhere else!

I said to DH...next year we will just get things rather than waiting!
