Ds's Christmas list consists of "anything Ben 10-ish".

I'm thinking the Deluxe Omnitrix, a few figures and the DVD.

Anyone any experience of the above? Or other ideas?

I've just discovered that the omnitrix is a Top 10 toy so will snap one up fast!!

DS has the omnitrix and loves it. We also have figures and a lunchbox (like every other boy in his class, which is tremendous fun as you never know who's leftovers you're going to get).

Looking forward to getting the DVD as I've never seen programme (we don't have Sky, he watches it at friends houses) and I really need to know who 'stinkfly' is.

Ben 10 Top Trumps will fit nicely in a stocking.

NorbertDentressangle · 17/11/2008 21:00

What ages are your DSs as my DS (4.5) wants "Something Ben 10" and I was wondering about the Delux Omnitrix thing too (didn't realise it was a top 10 toy though so I need to decide quickly as well).

I haven't the foggiest what it does though so wondered if it would suit that age?

twinklytoes · 17/11/2008 21:07

here's some ideas have bought the green one for friends ds

Grumpalina · 17/11/2008 21:09

Both mine have an Omnitrix and love them (aged 8 and 4). DS1 is also getting a Ben 10 fleece blanket (he loves wrapping a fleece blanket round him whne watching tv. Also he's getting a Ben 10 skate board and the DVD.

DS had the non-Deluxe Omnitrix for his 5th birthday. The Deluxe version has more lights & LCD games. It says from 4+ and I would agree with that.

wideratthehips · 17/11/2008 21:22

ask me anything...

the movie isn't great (well its not aimed at me!) its played on rotation on cartoon network, ds1 loves ben 10 (hes 4.5), but i think he found the movie a bit scary because it was 'real'

the dressing up outfit is great...with the omnitrix my son bounds around the house 'saving' me..i have to make boohoo noises and he comes to the rescue

he has a lot of the little sumo slammers (as bribery) and they fit perfectly into a dozen size egg box..you cut out the picture on the back and stick each one in its 'pod' and make a spaceship

ummmm....

theres loads of merchandise..

wideratthehips · 17/11/2008 21:23

its on itv on a sat morning or virgin on demand

M1SSUNDERSTOOD · 17/11/2008 21:25

Toyrus has deals on all Ben 10 stuff. You get the Omnitrix free if you spend over $40 (stupid keyboard)on selected items.

Frizbe · 17/11/2008 21:26

you can get scooter and skateboard too, plus card game.

NorbertDentressangle · 17/11/2008 21:28

Well I've just read some reviews of the Deluxe Omnitrix that suggests its very popular with the 4/5 yr olds, and you all seem to confirm that too, so I've just ordered it from John Lewis (£13.95 whereas it seems to be £15.99 elsewhere).

I'd rather get it now and know that its here for Xmas rather than be trudging round every shop in the county in mid-December trying to find somewhere thats still got one

tassisssss · 17/11/2008 21:32

Thanks all!

Vanessa, I've never seen it either. Really hoping it's not awful! Or that ds (who's a wuss) will find it too scary.

Norbert, my ds will be 6 in April.

Top Trumps for stocking's a great idea.

We do have the Alien Handbook (around a fiver and on 3 for 2 in both ELC and Waterstones) and it's FAB.

wider, you're obviously an expert! i'd seen the slammers but the storage issue bothered me (have a thing about too small toys!). the egg box idea is fab!

anyone else out there?!

tassisssss · 17/11/2008 21:32

I'm with you Norbert and will be getting one asap. Tesco have them at that price too.

tassisssss -in a few weeks time we can sit back with a smug grin and tell people "Of course its out of stock. Well what did you expect, it is a Top 10 toy this Xmas after all. You really should have bought it earlier "

tassisssss · 17/11/2008 21:49

Haha Norbert! You can, anyway, I've not ordered mine yet because i'm too tight to pay JL postage when I could (maybe if they have it) pop to Tesco and get one! My local argos apparently has them but I'm potty training so not shopping for days...

I'm excited thinking how thrilled my wee guy's going to be!

wideratthehips · 17/11/2008 21:59

to be honest ben 10 is one of the most tolerable of that genre...

i personally will not allow anything power rangers..the program is beyond awful and violent and with scary things in it

theres usually quite a good story in ben 10 (good grief what am i saying?!) and the theme tune is very catchy!..also i dont think anyone dies or that its too violent

ds1 has some ben 10 socks..good stocking present, cause i wont let him wear emblazoned clothes to school (does that make me mean?) and hes always extra chirpy on those days!

twinklytoes · 17/11/2008 22:04

Ds has a Ben 10 t-shirt - not with a picture of Ben 10, but a replica of the one Ben 10 actually wears (oh yes). I got it from ebay. He lurrves it, especially when wearing his omnitrix and green combats. Bless. Just another thought.....
