We've had one for years...and i wanted a new one . In the end i brought the one that isn't a calender but just a nativity scene and split it into the boxes i already had.

namechangedDontwant2Bflamed · 08/10/2008 16:33

I know this is a silly question but how do these avent calenders work?

belgo · 08/10/2008 16:35

you have to assemble them it advance, putting all the bits into the 24 boxes, and them they have a box to open every day. They take a couple of hours to assemble!

Frankensteinshughjarsssss · 08/10/2008 16:35

I was wondering the same thing

Chocolateteapot · 08/10/2008 16:35

I've just bought the Animal Feeding one for DD, I think she will love it.

Troutpout · 08/10/2008 16:39

oh yes they are really good

Frankensteinshughjarsssss · 08/10/2008 16:40

But how do they work?????

Nemoandthefishes · 08/10/2008 16:42

each day you open a little box to help set the scene. Ds absolutely loves his and its best £14 I have spent. He was 2 and a couple of months when we first got it and he is 5 on friday and has just been talking about it which is what reminded me I need to get one for the dds who will be 3 and 2 this christmas

the boxes then hang on a big cardboard picture, and each day you open one up and it gradually makes a scene. The scene itself is also cardboard.

sagacious · 08/10/2008 16:44

They do lego city ones as well [overexcited emoticon]

Troutpout · 08/10/2008 16:45

You get all the little pieces that make up the scene and all the numbered boxes with the instructions telling you which pieces go in which box
All the boxes go on a card hanger
Then you get a cardboard background scene on to which you gradually assemble your scene day by day with the characters and accessories.

Troutpout · 08/10/2008 16:45

x posts..belgo said it better

Wheelybug · 08/10/2008 16:47

I think I'm going to get dd the animal feeding one - she had one last year which was a great success but I just bunged all the bits into her playmobil box despite my good intentions to reuse it !! She'd love the fairy one but it just seems it should be christmassy....

Frankensteinshughjarsssss · 08/10/2008 16:54

Oh I understand now. I missed your first post belgo.

What a lovely idea. DD will be just turned 1, do you think she will be a bit young?

belgo · 08/10/2008 16:57

yes one year is a bit too young! The pieces will be far too small for her. Unless you want to get it for yourself

Frankensteinshughjarsssss · 08/10/2008 16:59

You caught me out!

plumandolive · 08/10/2008 17:04

Oh they look gorgeous I absolutely love playmobil.
I might get the animal feeding on too.
Thankyou

ohdearwhatamess · 08/10/2008 17:11

I've got the Knights one for me ds1.

Buda · 08/10/2008 17:16

We have a Playmobile one - have it about 4 years now. Bought the Lego City one last year and I hated it. NOT Xmassy! I had threads on here moaning!

So will invest in a new Playmobile one this year!

NappiesLaGore · 08/10/2008 18:20

we would lose multiple crucial bits within minutes. categorically. we will not be getting one of these for that reason (and if someone gives one to any of mine i will syphon it off and give it to someone else before they notice)
look nice tho.
shame we dont do 'bits'.
