Lighthearted - we all know every other family apart from our own does it wrong!

Mine are:

  • no pigs in blankets
  • BOILED veg 🤮
  • treating the Christmas cracker like a competition (we are are each person gets their own cracker prize family!)

I judge anyone who thinks they have to have a roast dinner just because it's Christmas Day.

planespotter71 · Today 09:18

Oh yes boiled veg, got to be roasted!

NestofVapers · Today 09:19

Genuinely nothing. I don't think I've ever been invited to a Christmas dinner and had a bad one. Plus if I liked someone enough to spend Christmas day with them it would have to be spectacularly shit for me to feel like judging them.

blackrabbitwhiterabbit · Today 09:20

I've never made a Christmas dinner in my life and am a veggie so 🤷‍♀️ .

Oliveoy · Today 09:21

I judge people who all link arms around the table to pull their crackers all at once

AxolotlEars · Today 09:23

Mash, peas, broccoli 🤣

gohomeroger1 · Today 09:23

People that have their christmas dinner at 12. Have it around 3pm/4pm for the King's Speech and stops you having to start cooking the roast during breakfast

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · Today 09:23

A starter- how do you fit it in?
Cauliflower cheese as a side
Not a single sprout at the table, it’s the law to have them.

I'm a veggie too and love a Xmas dinner, just minus the meat.

Peas. Mashed potato.

Completely agree - psychopath behaviour!

See I love peas on the Xmas dinner - got to be petit pois though. I think it’s because they’re so green and everything else can be a bit brown!

Frozen roast potatoes

SwingAndRelax · Today 09:25

"Judge" like on Bake Off, or are you using "judge" to mean "disapprove of"?

I think mashed potato on any roast dinner is weird. You're giving up valuable toastie space!

SnowflakesandSlippers · Today 09:25

I'd be disappointed not to have a Yorshire pudding, but apart from that nothing. I quite like doing it and don't find it a big job really, just a fancier roast than usual.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · Today 09:25

Frozen roasties. I have to stand outside on the step and hyperventilate if I am served a roastie that was previously frozen,

Which makes me a huge hypocrite because my Yorkshire puddings are all frozen, although nobody has pulled me up on this yet.

Edited

I have never eaten Christmas dinner during the day. Starters/canapés around 5pm, main meal about 6ish. As a child it was more like 8pm. But DM worked Christmas eve and wanted to not have an early start, and fit in a walk.

So yeah, I do find an early meal odd.

Me too. I've never understood why people have mash alongside roasties.

HolidayPlanningAgain · Today 09:28

Having anything because it’s “Tradition” especially when people sat around that table don’t like it!

PermanentTemporary · Today 09:28

I’ve hardly ever eaten a Christmas dinner that wasn’t mine or my mum’s thinking about it… not much. Oh I know, gravy granules. Given that it’s actually easier to make gravy from scratch, I don’t get why people use them and never have, and it makes everything taste the same and people pour it in without asking. Apart from that it’s all good.

I judge people for not having cauliflower cheese!

pamperedhooligans · Today 09:29

People who allocate two roast potatoes per person. There needs to be a huge mound of them!

SwingAndRelax · Today 09:29

Not quite sure if OP is saying she would make a judgement that there should be no pigs in blankets or if she disapproves when there aren't any... From the vomit face next to the boiled veg I think the second, which is correct of course. You must have PIB.

pbdr · Today 09:29

People who make sage and onion stuffing without sausage meat. Just the dry stuffing mix made with water!

And yes, I second boiled vegetables. Everything must be roasted, or at a push I might allow for sprouts pan fried in butter with bits of bacon. But a boiled sprout is a sad thing.

And don’t get me started on pale, underroasted potatoes…

MajorSamanthaCarter · Today 09:30

Mostly that they're cooking and eating animal carcasses.
