Hi all. I'm just caretaking until Reastie returns, but here's our new thread. Please do use up the old one first though.

This is intended as a friendly, kind, safe, warm and fuzzy place for people to share discounts, bargains and Christmas gift ideas both online and IRL. Please note the tone and intention of the thread and join with spirit as generous as DC helping themselves to the Christmas chocolate celebrations

Here’s some useful information about how to save the thread or a specific post so you don’t need to have a message to check in for every thread so you have the thread saved:

To watch the thread - click on the little bell that has ‘watch’ under my first message. This adds the whole thread to your ‘watched threads’

You can also bookmark a specific post by clicking on the ‘bookmark’ under the specific post. This saves your exact place in a thread but doesn’t alert you to new replies.

If you have any referral links or codes, please share them on the referral thread here:

A reminder that we don't use affiliated links on here please

All this Brio talk is making me nostalgic 😪 We've got a couple of massive crates in the loft as I just couldn't get rid of it when the kids grew out of it. We've got the mix of Brio and non-Brio. The special points and connectors might not looks as impressive to wrap but get the most use. DC4 is a very early Jan baby and his best present ever was when on his 3rd birthday we went to a heritage steam train station (I don't even think the trains were running) and let him loose in the shop to buy whatever he wanted.

🎄This looks very much in the realm of too good to be true, but there’s a gas camping stove on Amazon for just over £1.

Ooh how unusual! I’ve just taken a punt and ordered one for £1.29! Will see what turns up! Perhaps it’ll be the size to match a dolls house 🤣

Thanks for spotting

I’ve got a 20% off code if you’d like that?
It expires on the 19th November.

I am also looking for a discount on these if the code doesn’t get used or if it is multiple use 🙏

Definitely another Amazon scam. The reviews for the seller are all ‘order cancelled, item never sent by seller’

i really wish Amazon would clamp down better on these.

Do Whittards ever do sales / discounts / Black Friday offers? Interested in getting an advent calendar!

Yes they do - I remember they did Black Friday deals last year and they also do 10% off with blue light card if you have one

Is that a generic referral or your one where you get something too?

For train fans, the London Transport Museum shop has some cool things including model underground sets and cushions shaped like Tube Trains: LTM Train stuff

And for a really niche unique present, they’re selling off signage from the London Overground, starting around £25 for a line map and more like £5k for the platform roundel: Real London Overground signage

I now have train envy from everyone describing their cool setups!

Trains

Fun train themed toys ideal for budding transport enthusiasts!

Thanks! Is there ever any discount on the Iets Frans joggers?

I tried last week and it says the joggers are now exempt from discount codes 🙄 So annoying as they are so expensive!

Me too! Time will tell.

Can anyone recommend a decent folding umbrella please? Needs to be automatic folding, sturdy and pretty design for a lady. All the strongest ones seem to be plain black for men.

Re: Amazon scams

All these ‘too good to be true’ offers on Amazon are designed to get your cc details/other details/generate fake reviews/keep your money or part of your money, (every little helps!)

I really do wish Amazon would clamp down on these, but I also wish that people would avoid falling for the scams. It is absolutely ´not worth a punt’ to give your details to scammers!

Sorry to go on, but my DS was caught up in Amazon ‘brushing’ a few years ago and it’s awful. I wouldn’t wish similar on anyone and my heart sinks every time I read about a £1 Amazon ´bargain’ on here!

I’ve given that code to @PinkPanther27 but I also have a 10% off UNiDAYS code if that helps? That’s for full price and works with sale items as well.

Not sure how barfainous as I’m not familiar with products/prices but Look Fantastic have 25% off certain Elemis products online

Just checked my account and the money has gone through Amazon marketplace - rather than direct to the seller - will see what comes.

If nothing arrives (highly likely) I will raise and report etc. It does seem shabby of Amazon to not block dodgy retailers. This one has been on there for a year

Amazon don’t give crap tbh. They make you wait and wait and then wait a bit more before finally refunding and do nothing about the scam sellers who remain on their site but higher up on listings due to the number of “sales”

The Shea body shop code seems to have stopped working. It lets you get through to the payment page showing the discount but then at the last moment it refreshes and says the code doesn’t apply to you. Gutted!

My daughter is in love with her friend's doll but we've just discovered it is American Girl and they are soo expensive!! She wants cute, soft-bodied with plastic limbs and blonde hair. Can anybody recommend something similar, or where I can get a reasonably priced AG doll?!

Also, my son would love the Sylvanians Ice Cream van and the donut cart, if anybody has seen them for a good price?

I think Design a Friend and Our Generation might be similar and more around the £20-30 price range.

Argos have a few design a friends reduced -

Smyths stock our generation and have a couple reduced too

Apologies if this has already been mentioned, but there was some talk about the Bouquet in a Book earlier. Again, I haven't bought this myself, but there is a Christmas wreath book as well. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bouquet-Book-Christmas-Wreath-Pre-punched/dp/1446318710/ref=sr_1_2

I bought my mum one for her birthday in September, it looks absolutely lovely finished, but she said she found it a bit fiddly (she is an avid knitter and does other drafts, she's in her mid 70s). She said don't buy her another one as it was difficult with her mild arthritis, I thought I would say in case anyone is thinking of this for older relatives like I did.
