What’s on your list (if you’re a woman who actually wants stuff)

If you’re the type of woman says “all I want for Christmas is a hug from my children and a single Ferrero Rocher” then that’s absolutely lovely but not what I’m asking. I need ideas for stuff for myself, lovely things I may not have come across, to put on my Christmas list!!

So far I have a voucher for a Margaret Dabbs medical pedicure
A new casserole dish, Le Creuset style
The secret of cooking by Bee Wilson
A little zip up thing to put in my handbag with my essentials

I’d love some really nice knitwear also.
What sort of lovely things are on your lists?

If I was forced to ask for something (and I'm in the 'a good night's sleep' category of gift receiving these days)...

I would ask for a new pair of OnCloud On 6 trainers.

Some better walking boots.

A new COS cashmere jumper.

Some personal training sessions.

And I always ask for very dark chocolate buttons.

DevastatingFinish · 22/10/2026 13:46

Anyone asking for jumpers, do you have any links to what you’re interested in? I love browsing knitwear.

Some gorgeous ideas here. Gold t bar necklace is now on my list too!!

I can recommend Le Bon Shoppe socks if you like a nice sock.

I want a cashmere sweater I’ve seen on Me+EM and I could do with some new slippers. Some nice soap is always welcome and a voucher for a facial at my salon.

AllaMova · 22/10/2026 13:48

DP said she’d buy me new AirPods, since mine died after around five years of constant use.

Also on my list is:

A theatre ticket.
Books in relation to my special interest (classic film).
Dishoom cookbook.
Toiletries (White Company soap, Cantu curl cream and Aveeno triple oat serum.)

Various cookbooks, kitchen gadgets and fancy ingredients - am a serious foodie so have a culinary wishlist I update throughout the year. The Secret of Cooking is a great read!

Yhe I definitely have a list and I think it’s important your kids learn the art of gift giving and thoughtfulness - so I expect gifts from them as well. Their dad takes them shopping for their gifts for me and I take them shopping for their presents for him. They’re both pretty good (youngest is let off the hook as she’s too little to really understand).
I have an Etsy list that’s just stuff I see over the year that I like, DH normally gets me some bits off that for my stocking (earrings, rings, some knitted stuff).
My daughter normally gets me some jammies and bath stuff (themed around something I like, she will probably get me some miss piggy jammies or something because she asked me yesterday “do you love miss piggy still?” So I’m guessing that’s why she asked).
I don’t expect loads off my kids, but I think teaching them to pick out a good gift and think of what the other person wants is a life skill. I hate the idea of my son or daughters future partner just getting a shitty last minute box of chocolates and flowers from the local supermarket - I’d be so embarrassed and so would their dad.
Big present from DH is that we’re going away for NYE to Amsterdam. I know what it is because I had to renew my passport and he knows I need more than a week to plan my outfits to take with me. My gift to him is that I’ve arranged for us to meet one of his best mates (who moved to America) over there but he thinks his main gift is getting the car detailed lol.

Lego, KitchenAid mixer, and nice knitwear. Same every year (kitchen gadgets change).

Elephanttrunk · 22/10/2026 15:08

My birthday is just before christmas so I have a joint list of things that I would like although my husband always says that I ask for rubbish things:
Books - new releases in the psychological thriller or romantasy sections or I have a list of specific hardbacks I want for my collection.
House plants
New pjs
A heated blanket just for me (I keep stealing husbands)
Clarins tonic bath and shower concentrate (I love the smell)
A kindle clicker - this has gone up in priority as the nights get colder!
Chocolate
Red wine

A tool box!

I have loads of hand tools inherited from my granddad and they're all just knocking around in a cardboard box and I'd just love a proper toolbox so they could all be nice and organised

Givemeausernamepls · 22/10/2026 15:49

I am single and have decided I will be doing myself a stocking of smellies, chocolate, candles and a book. I will also be getting myself some new running shoes and possibly even a new garmin as mine seems to be a bit temperamental

I'm running low on perfume and fancy trying something new, so I plan to have a mooch in Diptyque and John Lewis when I go Christmas shopping to try a few out.

So - perfume, and possibly a matching body/hand lotion if available.

Larry David's autobiography.

New pyjamas, bath salts, and fancy bubble bath. I get these three every Christmas, birthday and mother's day and I always look forward to receiving them.

I always ask for bath foam, books and jigsaws, so I understand always getting the same things and looking forward to it, but good heavens, how many pyjamas do you own if you are getting three sets a year?! (or alternatively what on earth are you doing in them to wear them out so you need three sets a year!)

TheHouseofBamboo · 22/10/2026 15:53

I'd like some new sharp knives. I don't need them but I'd love to replace the Hodge podge of blunt knives. Due to having fingers fused by arthritis there's only one knife in the house I can use for peeling. I'd love another. I can't get on with proper peelers, it has to be a short bladed knife.

wishingonastar101 · 22/10/2026 16:00

I am getting (I buy my own shit these days... that's another thread)
Goop Vitamin C serum
Cos black midi skirt
New shower curtain

You have to give the gifter a coin if they give you a knife. I have no idea why.

A Rolife book nook set
A used book subscription box

My mum would love some Christmas biscuits from around the world so thank you so much for the inspo!!

dontcookwontcook · 22/10/2026 16:22

I would like: contributions towards a Burberry coat (second hands obvs because who can afford that!) and I’d like some new glassware
I also love the idea of vouchers for beauty treatments!

dontcookwontcook · 22/10/2026 16:23

I’d also love a Killian perfume but I don’t think anyone will be getting me that so maybe it’ll be a gift to myself!

(or alternatively what on earth are you doing in them to wear them out so you need three sets a year!)

I like fresh pyjamas each evening so I would say I usually have 8 or 9 sets in rotation in my drawer. The pyjamas I get for my birthday in summer will usually be shorts and vests or thin cotton etc, so I wouldn't wear those all year round. Likewise, my Christmas pyjamas are usually thicker and warmer and wouldn't be used from spring-autumn.

I'd say each new pair probably lasts 2-3 years of being worn and washed before going out of rotation (to charity/cut up as rags/thrown out), which I think isn't bad. Also, I usually change in to one of my older sets that's nearing the end of it's life if I'm cleaning the house, as I'm less concerned about spills and stains. I once lost a pair of Sweaty Betty gym leggings to toilet bleach, RIP, and I vowed Never Again.

I like pyjamas. Getting a nice new set with a pretty design brings me joy 😊
