What gifts are we getting our DHs? Or other males like younger brothers (adult) fathers etc?

in desperate need for ideas

Haven't started shopping yet, not least because they have birthdays before Christmas. I'm determined to buy gifts they actually want instead of just tat that seemed a good idea at the time.
DS2 has not long bought a house and is keen to make the garden more interesting. He's got a few basic tools so I'm thinking about something in that line.
DS1 will get an annual subscription to Private Eye and DH a subscription to Scientific American.

I get my DH a homemade booklet of sexy vouchers and then throw it away along with the wrapping paper when I'm tidying up on Christmas day.

@didntlikeanyofthesuggestionslove this!

The most successful presents over the years for DH have been wellies, a bat detector, a weather station, a cheese selection and a crate of mixed beers. We’ve been married a very long time and I won’t bother to list all the unsuccessful ones.

DH is not into ‘stuff’ so I try a get him experience vouchers which he has said he prefers. I’ve bought all sorts for things he likes such as to the theatre, Bletchley Park, Go Ape axe throwing, RAF museums, Star Wars exhibitions, afternoon tea, Silverstone Museum, restaurant, Odeon, etc.

For stockings I get his fave sweets/chocs, car ice scraper with a built-in glove, quiz game cards & book (he/we like to do these on long car journeys), bird poo dropping remover for cars (a hit!), etc.

Invisible Women is a book every man should have to read, you can pop a copy of that in his stocking alongside whatever lame male hobby item he has requested from you.

Dressing gown went down well last year.

DH didn't know he was getting one, prob would have said he wouldn't use one if i'd have asked. But i bought a lovely big grey dressing gown with a hood. The white fleecy lining is really cozy and he loves it! Wears it a lot.

Torchout · 18/10/2026 18:46

DH gets membership to his favourite sports club. Then I get him a few small presents do he has something to open. I'm usually all excited gor Christmas but poor health means I cant get excited this year. One thing were considering for an adult son, we gave a couple is a hoodie for his favourite team . I know DH wants one too but its pricey.

campingwoes · 18/10/2026 18:51

I'm getting him an egg topper and a cap! We only do a couple of bits. Might get him some posh coffee beans.

GameOfJones · 18/10/2026 22:04

So far I've bought him a bottle of gin and a new wash bag but I'll be following for ideas.

I love this book

Vouchers (cold dip and sauna for DH, restaurant for dad)
Vinyl albums
Gig tickets (probably a comedian for DH)
Whiskey (FIL)
Matching sport team bobble hats (DS & DH)

Am avoiding any type of toiletry or random golf gift this year - I’m pretty sure they get binned/re-gifted.

Topbird29 · 19/10/2026 16:20

Got dh a pair of trainers he chose himself and bottle of hibiki whisky. Some books, and he likes the batons from hotel chocolat- they will be ftom our sons with some cans of specialist beer. My brother (46) gets aftershave (he tells me which he likes), and a "hamper" of things like chutneys, crisps, nuts and edible treats he would not usually buy himself as is on a budget

Ophy83 · 19/10/2026 16:35

I am going to get my dad a raclette machine. My brother RHS membership. DH I haven't decided yet on his main present, maybe theatre tickets. DS wants lego and filament for his 3D printer

There was a similar thread last week which I'll link, but that was just for DH gift ideas. I think its 6 pages long- so lots of ideas.

For older male relatives, I find food items go down well because often they don't need more stuff- unless its knackered. Some things we've given over the years:

-A bird feeder and seed when a relative had limited mobility
-whiskey or tipple they like. We make sloe gin and plum brandy which is always poplar.
-new dressing gown
-Food/drink hamper. You can often pick up baskets in charity shops or many supermarkets sell them near Christmas with often a ribbon and paper packaging. Make up your own or fortum and mason ones are lovely- but expensive!
-These gloves are lovely for anyone that gardens. https://www.longacres.co.uk/gold-leaf-tough-touch-gloves-ladies/?gadsource=1&gadcampaignid=17180907007&gbraid=0AAAAAD9uhHIeIINZ0WmZrk7wxSUcTe1S&gclid=CjwKCAjwotzWBhBFEiwA1JhPoKdXwDnJVMz7Njt5n9brxJPR7V870NVinfWhgkxXg7PWDRZovStsHBoCMzUQAvDBwE
