I'm getting DH Glenmorangie whiskey and Toto tickets. Not sure what else yet.

Usually end up getting my dad a rugby style jumper that he requests.

FIL usually has books and wine.

Me and DH watch National Lampoons Christmas every year. So as a surprise in the lead up to Christmas I've bought the famous moose glasses and a bottle of egg nog which I will surprise him with when we watch it.

YorkieTheRabbit · 23/10/2026 22:00

I get my DH a homemade booklet of sexy vouchers and then throw it away along with the wrapping paper when I'm tidying up on Christmas day.

One year I got DH a pair of Raybans, they were not very expensive due to it being off season, he loved them and have lasted years.

I don't have many blokes to buy for, and the ones I have I find it difficult - as evidenced by the fact I have a thread on here about what to get my brother for his birthday!

For what's irs worth, I for Christmas I am buying:

DB (early 50s male) - a hamper of his favourite foods, drinks, treats - it will be things like jelly fruits, chocolate footballs, luxury tins of soup, packets of some strange powdered mash he likes - plus a few little novelties like a humorous coaster, a card game, some sparklers....

FWB (late 40s male) - clothes - a couple of "going out" shirts as he never has anything to wear when we go to smart places, and a decent gilet for cold dog walking mornings. I am buying good quality vintage items as that's his preference, for environmental reasons.

DD's dad (mid 40s male) - similar food hamper to DB, although DD's dad is more of a cook, so there's more of a focus on unusual spices and condiments, from my local halal and oriental supermarkets. I've also stuck in a game (executive drafts) - a few emergency "survival" times as he likes an outdoors expedition - and some novelty socks in the shape of a sushi platter, which made me laugh as he lovees both sushi and socks!

I love compiling a hamper for someone I know well, picking out fun ideas and their favourite things - and it also works out fairly cheap (especially as I start picking up the items around September time). And you definitely know that at least the majority of it will be used!

Dressing gown went down well last year.

DH didn't know he was getting one, prob would have said he wouldn't use one if i'd have asked. But i bought a lovely big grey dressing gown with a hood. The white fleecy lining is really cozy and he loves it! Wears it a lot.

I did this for my ex - he swore blind he didn't want one but for loads of wear out of the lovely one I bought him.

(He was the sort of man who saw admitting to wearing/wanting any form os designated night attire, especially something fluffy and comforting, as a sign of weakness.)

My dad got a dry stone walling course one year. It was a 2 day thing and he absolutely loved it. Made a change from the usual alcohol type gifts.

This sounds like an absolutely tremendous thing. Sadly our of my price range i imagine. I'd love to get it for someone - Hell, I'd quite like it for myself!

I think it was about £70 although I am going back a few years. It was with a local group and then they all went to build a section up at a local farm.

Have a look on the Menkind site. There’s loads of great stuff for men and boys on there.

ovaloctopus · 30/10/2026 01:02

So far I’ve went with a whisky advent calendar (from Master of Malt), and a bottle of whiskey (although he knows about that as he picked it out when we went to a whiskey hotel from their whiskey shop).

Will be adding some clothes but I always wait until Black Friday for that. I am also toying with a hamper made up of favourite condiments, food, etc.

YorkieTheRabbit · 30/10/2026 21:58

@shadesofwinter, I’ve received an email newsletter today, the Christmas whisky is available to order, it’s not showing on the website as yet.
I’ve ordered, £84.90 including delivery.

By the way, if anybody is going down the food hamper route with a hubs (or other bloke) who is a bit cheffy, and looking for fun ingredients - I popped into Lidl today and they have a range of Greek stuff that looks perfect.

As I mentioned above, dad's dad likes to cook, and has always loved Greek food in particular. I got him a quite stylish looking bottle of olive oil (they have three, all in differently coloured but very attractive bottles - all reasonably priced as it's Lidl. And also some little tubs of spice mix designed for specific Greek dishes. I got him a Souvlaki one and a gyros one, and they had a tzatziki one too, and a few others. All cheap as chips. And there was lovely olive paste and aubergine puree and other lovely looking stuff....

Just an idea!

Rosesandcrysanthamums · 31/10/2026 18:57

Do they have any hobbies?

My hubby likes scuba diving so I have bought him a beacon light to clip to his BCD (inflating vest type thing that all the hoses etc attach to), an SMB (float thing that shows where the diver is coming up to the surface) and a new rash vest.

I appreciate that's very specific to that hobby though!
