The foot hot water bottle sounds great, if anyone sees a particularly cheap one or sees the aldi ones back in stock, please let me know. Dh and I do stockings but it has a very strict limit on budget!
thank you for the crayons dd will love them

re yoto cards, can anyone recommend anything for younger dc? We have a few cards but toddler dc get bored of the stories, there’s more voices and sound effects on the tonies as well as music. Is that just because yoto is a bit more grown up or have we been unlucky with card choices so far?

Argos big red event starts tomorrow if anyone’s got anything in their basket they’re waiting to be discounted
and rhs have got 20% off all plants atm

I noticed this one on mountain warehouse, could use the additional 25% off code if you were doing a bigger order.

You are, but just FYI they've changed the code to the new 4th gen yotos only, not the ones currently in the sale. So if you're buying the newer one (with the funky green button) here's the link for £10 off.

Hi, use this link to get £10 off a 4th Gen Adventure Jacket with a Yoto 4th Gen Player purchase, and I'll get a voucher too! https://refer.yotoplay.com/27fuh!1dd057faf5!n?locale=en

There was actually a bundle with two yoto minis on, might be a good one for you!
.
Otherwise I did a bit of research this morning and it would seem the BF sales are traditionally better for yoto so may be worth waiting for that unless you're in a rush.

Thanks so much. Not in a rush, so perhaps I'll hold off for now. 30% off two minis does seem great, but may do some research.

Could we keep the referrals to the referral thread - please and thankyou 😊

My bad. I asked for the referral by PM. I did a search for the referral thread and couldn't locate it. 😔

(Slaps self on wrist and scuttles back into the shadows).

lemoncurdcupcake · 06/10/2026 13:33

@fishfingersandchipsagain when people say 'the referrals thread', is it the whole promos section? Or is there a specific Christmas related referral thread?

Realised I mentioned 'the referral thread' when I first started the yoto chat but I was just parroting stuff I've read and I'm not actually sure where it is/what it means 🫣

@Stellinazucca that's interesting, which sorts of cards have you tried?

We had them for 4th birthday pressies and they've always been well used. We travel a lot and love that they're so easily portable.

My son (now 7) prefers non fiction cards (like everything under the sun, flags of the world etc) and independent ones like the arralan series. But he's also spent hours listening to enid Blyton over the years.

DD(5) prefers listening to music on hers so have lots of music cards. She used to love the Peppa pig stories but these days it's Barbie and Hotel Flamingo.

Make your own cards are great, can fill with books from borrowbox for free.

I thought the Julia Donaldson ones would be faves as we love the books but think perhaps because we usually read those and look at the pictures together that having it on a card isn't as tempting. Haven't been impressed by the Disney stories so far. Definitely an extent of personal preference.

My Starfish order has arrived and all seems lovely from two things I’ve opened so far. Thats part of MIL done 😁

What's this Starfish thing?

IlovePond · 06/10/2026 14:05

@ForeverTheOptomist - if mine ever arrives, I’ll get back to you 😹

Seriously - it was a charity selling off jewellery at clearance prices. Deal has now ended and some of us are STILL waiting …

IlovePond · 06/10/2026 14:07

@Cuwins - I just looked under Prime deals and bought the cheapest I could find - it wasn’t Xmas tape - just boring packing tape. It’s gone up from last time I purchased but I need some now 😿

Oooo thank you for this, I’ve just looked and there’s a great offer on two yoto minis which is perfect for my two boys upcoming birthdays!

Would you be able to pm me a referral code if you have one?

If anyone is ordering anything from etsy, this year ive been finding that if you add stuff to basket and leave it there overnight quite often you get a tempting discount code for it the next day. Might help someone!

🤪🤣🤣can you tell I’m a little bit tired???. Also I’ve forgotten to shorten the link so it goes to my account 🙄 would you mind reporting it so someone in mumsnet hq can delete?

That's my issue too! Anyone got tips how to link NOT to your own account?

It doesn't link to your own account usually (but obviously will look like it will for you personally)

Also, is everyone paying 3.99 postage for the little seed calendar?

Openmouthinsertfood · 06/10/2026 14:47

I think it only looks like it goes to your account because you’re logged in to that account? It takes me to my account.

Thanks to the pp who sent the hot water bottle for feet!
and yes perhaps this is the issue we’ve had almost all Disney cards so far. It’s mostly just one person reading a book, whereas the tonies are all the character voices in the story and lots of sound effects and then songs. Admittedly I don’t know how to use the yoto as well and the Disney tonies are pretty bad too, so maybe these are the problems. Might try again with a peppa pig one.

Oh gosh I saw this and had to remind myself not to judge about this as a gift for a 7 year old! playboy bunny things were all the rage in the 2000s for teens and preteens where I grew up! I thought it must be back as a trend, but was relieved anyway to see it was a typo 🫣

IlovePond · 06/10/2026 15:07

Just a heads up: Apparently ASOS has been hacked.

BargainChristmas · 06/10/2026 15:08

On the yoto/audiobook chat, if anyone is interested in the new Harry Potter full cast recordings, they're 75p each for Audible members today. Not sure how you'd gift them but it's a proper bargain.
