Hi first thread on this years but feel like I’ve not left as I’ve followed it all year anyway.
I am hoping for inspiration for a 13 yr old boy.
Any present ideas in general would be so welcome.
I normally have bought loads by now but not this year!
In the run up to Christmas I do a little present a day - I kind of advent calendar but more just a wee tree gift every morning. Girls are definitely easier for this!
In the past I’ve done silly socks, shower/sprays (not a hit) books, superzings, blind bag, small figurines of games he’s into but I’m stuck this year!!!
Has anyone any ideas - it’s just a wee tradition I want to keep going through the teenage years, they’re still so young thought they def don’t think so!
He's into Gaelic sports, plays soccer, loves Leeds United, gaming on PlayStation and X Box, traitors, (lush bath bombs but don’t want their advent calendar or 24 of them )Agatha Christie mysteries and weirdly true crime, chess, travel, he loves new/in things being stylish and ahead of the pack with style and the latest/next ‘big thing’
All ideas please would be so welcome
And board games for this age when they’ve hit so many.
And stocking fillers
Girls definitely don’t need as much thought with hair nails smellies etc
no big ask then - but I know I’ll get loads of ideas in other threads so hoping for the 24 little gift ideas here
🤯😂 I need to get into the Christmas vibe
Fingers crossed

Does he really need 24 gifts then gifts on the day? It’s so money-centred - not the point of Christmas at all!

One thing I did with DC was a jar of compliments - they loved reading them each day.

EspanaPorfavor · 26/09/2026 16:20

My DS is 13 tomorrow!

we’ve got him Cards against humanity (family edition) and some little Lego mini figures on eBay to go alongside his main present.

Leeds2 · 26/09/2026 16:24

My first port of call would be the Leeds United shop. There are loads of things on there that might be of interest.
Pack of Top Trumps.
Jar of fancy chocolate spread or peanut butter.
A chocolate orange.
A £5 gift card for Greggs/Costa/Caffè Nero.
Pack of Percy Pigs.
Key ring, maybe an LUFC one.Or pin badges.
Power bank.

If I did that for my teen DS, I honestly can’t imagine his face 😆

My son would probably have found a jar of insults really funny at that age though. 😂

You can buy a mug and on it in Leeds United colours says this is the only cup we'll win this year.

Most popular card games with our teen DC at the minute are Flip 7, Taco Cat (and variations), Cards against Gravity also good - works well with a J2O bottle. Weirdly, Rummikub also having a bit of a resurgence with the teens at our local youth group.

What about some wee £5 vouchers like for Greggs or Starbucks - just enough to buy a wee treat on the day.

searchforthesun · 26/09/2026 17:04

A bendy phone holder, long charger, mini projector for his room, neon sign for his bedroom, keyboard cleaner (the sticky ball type), fluffy blanket, led bedroom lights, clip on bedside light, throw at the wall alarm clock, projector alarm clock, mini waffle maker

Rosietru · 26/09/2026 17:13

Hand warmer for the school commute, touch screen gloves, shin pads, football gloves, muscle soak for the bath, unusual cans of pop, cool magic tricks, mini aftershaves, power bank

Thanks so much
I’ve gotten loads of great ideas for the boys stockings
For the Advent 24 gift thing not so much.
maybe I didn’t explain it so well- it’s mostly like doing a home made advent calendar so there’s a theme - if you know what I mean, rather than all the wee general bits and pieces you’d put in stockings.
So the year I did socks I got the cheap advent one from the white stuff - remember 😂 - and then different ones in TK’s wrapped them all, numbered them and put them in a big Christmas bag from the pound shop and had special ones for Christmas Eve. So every morning they went diving into that big sack to find the right number and it was great fun.
Did the same with all superzings
And the Christmas book year
So I guess I’m trying to find a theme - 🤷‍♀️ - that I can wrap and number etc and have a bit of fun, just silly but it makes the run up to Christmas lovely.
I don’t mind spending a bit, I know it’s not what Christmas is about but it is too in a way!
The advent calendars the girls get - or ask for 😉 are not cheap, but they love seeing what they get everyday - I just don’t see the same thing for boys.
I really hope I’ll get some ideas

A jar of compliments 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

persisted · 26/09/2026 17:26

Get a Lego set and divide it up into small sections- first one is the instructions then you build as you go. Loads to choose from.

Leeds2 · 26/09/2026 17:32

For a themed advent, I would do 24 different chocolate bars. or spreads - there are some unusual ones out there if you look carefully. For example, and I mentioned it on the adult stocking filler thread, M&S have brought out a new Custard Cream spread this year. Or 24 different flavours of crisps.

It wasn’t their main gift…

but I think lots of kids would like the idea. If they’re having a bad day they can go back and read some. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’d like that! 🤣

Well no, given you spend £400 on each child 😆

Kittkats · 26/09/2026 18:40

Dr dent tooth whitening strips (TikTok)
Japanese sweets
funko pop

Stompythedinosaur · 26/09/2026 19:37

It you want a theme, could you do American sweets, or Japanese snacks? Or stationary? Pin badges?

I do something similar for my teens, but I stopped doing a theme a while back as I found it so hard!

Orchidmaster · 27/09/2026 07:49

Mine have liked:
American sweets
Fidgets
Jam (😆)
LEGO

SandwichMakerHater · 27/09/2026 07:52

If they are into Agatha Christie, what about trying to split a murder mystery into 23 clues with the 24th revealing the murderer!

Ophy83 · 27/09/2026 07:54

I would go witb either a games theme or foodie theme

Games: d&d dice (if he's into that), small games e.g card games, miniature/ travel versions of games (small games are very useful for trips to the pub if you have any cosy afternoons over the holiday period), Robux voucher, a larger game every now and then perhaps to coincide with weekends when you will have time to play it. My same age DS loves Catan at the moment so I'll probably get him an expansion pack for that this Christmas. Ticket to Ride is good. Ransom Notes (it's worth looking at Big Potato games more generally, they have lots of good ones)

Food: hot sauce, taki crisps, traitors sweets (this could also go under the games option!), Christmas pringles, jerky, Tony's chocolate bar, butterbeer, sweets, fancy spread for bread/toast e.g. one incorporating marshmallow or PBJ or custard creams

Or you could do a sports theme incorporating Gaellic football and Leeds as well as anything else he enjoys, but I don't have suggestions there!
