Hi first thread on this years but feel like I’ve not left as I’ve followed it all year anyway.
I am hoping for inspiration for a 13 yr old boy.
Any present ideas in general would be so welcome.
I normally have bought loads by now but not this year!
In the run up to Christmas I do a little present a day - I kind of advent calendar but more just a wee tree gift every morning. Girls are definitely easier for this!
In the past I’ve done silly socks, shower/sprays (not a hit) books, superzings, blind bag, small figurines of games he’s into but I’m stuck this year!!!
Has anyone any ideas - it’s just a wee tradition I want to keep going through the teenage years, they’re still so young thought they def don’t think so!
He's into Gaelic sports, plays soccer, loves Leeds United, gaming on PlayStation and X Box, traitors, (lush bath bombs but don’t want their advent calendar or 24 of them )Agatha Christie mysteries and weirdly true crime, chess, travel, he loves new/in things being stylish and ahead of the pack with style and the latest/next ‘big thing’
All ideas please would be so welcome
And board games for this age when they’ve hit so many.
And stocking fillers
Girls definitely don’t need as much thought with hair nails smellies etc
no big ask then - but I know I’ll get loads of ideas in other threads so hoping for the 24 little gift ideas here
🤯😂 I need to get into the Christmas vibe
Fingers crossed

Kattikka I’m sorry, we’ve only had the mystery-type calendars for slightly older children.

Could you make it a bit simpler on you both by doing for say 10 or 12 days in the run up to Christmas rather than the whole month. Or make the early ones Christmas decorations for your tree or whatever. I am a fan of functional practical gifts so include some things he needs anyway eg pens and pencils, socks etc

my teen would be over the moon with a different gift card each day 😂 be pretty pricey though even if you only did £5 per gift card, you could always do one place more than once so wouldnt have to think of 25 different places.

greggs
mcdonalds
playstation store
cinema
fortnite
Roblox
starbucks
App Store
sports direct
kfc
primark

You can buy a mug and on it in Leeds United colours says this is the only cup we'll win this year.

If there’s a spurs one I’ll definitely get that for my son. Not sure he’s ready to laugh about it yet though!

The 12 days of Christmas are the 12 days after Christmas (the number of days it took the travelers to reach Bethlehem after the word of the birth) ending on the Epiphany (6th January).

Advent is counted the 4 Sunday (and days in between) run up before Christmas however most commercially bought things count it from the 1st of December so it can be used the same every year.

There is no event thats a 10-12 day run up to Christmas, so that would be odd for the sake of being odd.

I do the same homemade advent calendar thing. Last year I cheated and bought a popcorn advent calendar (John Lewis), dismantled it and split the 24 packs between my two children (the remaining 12 pockets had Christmas themed chocs in them). I’ve bought the Crazy Aaron’s Thinking Putty for 13 year old DD which, again, I’ll dismantle and put into the fabric advent calendar all individually wrapped and then top up the rest with special festive chocolates.

That might be raw and risky if he doesn't have a good sense of humour.

This is a tricky one - I've never stuck to a theme. This is actually the first year I am not doing one for my similar age DS at all. I feel like last year, we hit a point where it just wasn't loved, so this year I will stick to chocolate and spend elsewhere.

If I was trying to theme it, I'd maybe pick his favourite animal and go from there. E
g. my DS likes sharks. So I'd get shark...

  • Socks
  • Tee
  • Rubber duck shark
  • Lego shark man mini fig/polybag
  • Stationary
  • Mug
  • Onsie
  • Shark trust/MCS charity bits (lots of really nice stuff there)
  • soft toy
  • shark tracking bracelet/app

Got to be more... but my DS does really like animals!

Yeah- I’m thinking not this year tbh!
