If someone was to buy you a gift card, what one would you prefer?
Would you prefer somewhere you shop regularly or for more of 'treat yourself' place?

I'm trying to gather as many options as possible/the most popular!

Merry September!

I prefer an Amazon gift card 😄

Kamek · 15/09/2026 11:21

John Lewis

Forgottenmyphone · 15/09/2026 11:23

A ‘treat yourself’ kind of place. If it was Amazon or John Lewis, I’d probably end up spending it on the dc as I shop for them more often than myself.

Focussingonme · 15/09/2026 11:45

Treat myself, so a clothes shop I like or a Bluewater voucher for variety. Like the pp an Amazon card would be frittered away for me sadly.

NimbleHiker · 15/09/2026 16:29

I would choose an amazon gift card because i love reading.

yonem · 15/09/2026 16:41

John Lewis, M&S or book tokens. I don’t shop at Amazon so end up offloading those onto someone else

luckylavender · 15/09/2026 16:46

I try to avoid Amazon where I can. Mine would be Waterstones, John Lewis, even though we don't have one in my City, Boots or M&S I think

VioletCoral23 · 15/09/2026 16:46

Amazon

Goldpanther · 15/09/2026 16:48

M&s, liberty of London or the local farmshop

Runningupthecurtains · 15/09/2026 16:49

Oh can I have a Book token please? 📚📖📕

coasthereforawhile · 15/09/2026 16:52

Waterstones

IronEverything · 15/09/2026 16:55

As long as it doesn't require the recipient to travel anywhere they don't usually go, it should be all good.

JLMA · 15/09/2026 16:57

I like a gift card for a meal somewhere local-ish.

valentinoandme · 15/09/2026 16:59

Definitely NOT a One4All gift card- they are an absolute nightmare!

FIFIBEBE · 15/09/2026 17:11

John Lewis. If you buy JLP gift cards in Sainsbury’s you can collect Necter points on the purchase.

This! It’s awful! A scam

Theonewhogotthecake · 15/09/2026 17:40

I vote for John Lewis, M and S or Amazon.

muddyford · 15/09/2026 17:42

Amazon for me, Tesco for my father, Sainsbury's for my sister.

TheGirlWhoLived · 15/09/2026 17:51

Marks and Spencer for me!

CoffeeChocolateWine · 15/09/2026 18:26

I would appreciate anything, but I would choose John Lewis or M&S because I’m most likely to buy myself clothes or something nice for my home. But something like a massage voucher would be an absolute hit as well.

I’ve never been bought an Amazon voucher before but I won one once. Something that really pissed me off about it was that once I had opened it and added it to my account, it was automatically used for my next order. Admittedly, I probably placed the order too quickly and didn’t look properly, but the fact that it defaulted that way annoyed me. I think I ended up spending it on cat food 😂

This!

Amazon for me or cash. I’m put off others as shops regularly close down and I’ve also had a gift card with nothing on it. It wasn’t activated properly

Was coming on to say the same!

Cornishmumofone · 15/09/2026 18:34

I hate gift cards… I’ve had so many which expired before I use them.

TofuTuesday · 15/09/2026 18:42

I will never buy another gift card unless online and sent by email.

there is a significant issue where people take the non activated cards, scratch the info panels, and replace them. When bought and money added they then can use them, and the recipient will find that their card has a nil balance.

happened to us with a £100 tesco card and took weeks to resolve. Also an m and s card.
